It depends how hard your hitting the pipe and how much flame your applying if equal ratio to joints burn rate to weed burning then how the fuck would paper smoke in any way reduce harshness

I just picked up a pipe pretty much the same as the one posted but a tad bigger. I'd say it's smoother than a J

Unless you have a real filter (I.E: Carbon), the smoke won't have much time to condense. Try taking a really long hit on a joint and your lungs will burn. A pipe on the other hand, lots of the tar/resin condenses in the pipe, that's the black residue that builds up inside of the pipe, and why we wash them out with ISO. That stuff is part of what makes smoking harsh (And why vaporizing is not harsh). It's a great part of why using a bong is so smooth, because the water cools the smoke and also acts as a filter.

I guess its just me man.

It didn't really affect the experience negatively for me
