Eugh.. I'm far up north, trying to get some inspiration to make at least 2 new compositions. Only thing I have so far is a tune made out of slowed down animal-screams with a lot of reverb, and generic house/drum n bass nr: 1000. Sucks bigtime. I try to find some instruments, but I never find what I'm looking for, make something out of a riff and some drum-beats, then I just delete the whole thing and start over. Anyone have some tips to get some inspiration to make tunes? On the positive side, I've acquired 4 new payed gigs, which I'm going to be playing the next months.
i know what you mean man, since ive been comisssioned for a few works now it becomes more and more difficult to come up with something that isn't generic and boring. just try to imagine that making the tune doesnt matter, piss about a bit with production, and scrap the idea if it doesn't sound great. when you eventually come to something that sounds nice use that and try to turn it into a whole tune

I used to have lot of ideas, but they're just gone. Thankfully, I have never ending drum-creativity, so the drum parts in my compositions are always better than the other instruments. Maybe I'll just make music consisting solely of drums. :v:

FL Studio users, I'm wondering if it's possible to move Channels in the Step Sequencer up and down? As far as I know it's not possible (there's no option). So was just curious is there might be some add-on or way that I might of overlooked. I have mega OCD with FL Studio, and love keeping everything super neat, organized, and easy to locate. Having all the channels mixed up by order of when I added them is so annoying, to me at least.
Yay I finally finished another song

Then press ALT + Down or ALT + Up to move it.
Anyone got any tips for writing sad piano songs? I'm horrible at this stuff.
Minor scales help obviously.
Reverb.
Well, I just came up with this melody: http://filesmelt.com/dl/An_Escalator_To_Heaven.mid Sound good?

Where would I find good tutorials if I want to try out Fruity loops? or is there something better than FL?
Where would I find good tutorials if I want to try out Fruity loops? or is there something better than FL?
It's personal preference, really. Some tools are better at certain things, depends what you're looking to do. Google/youtube/the usual place.s
alright, thanks.
Where would I find good tutorials if I want to try out Fruity loops? or is there something better than FL?
If you want to make strictly electronic music then FL will do just fine. Try google and youtube, it's a lot simpler than you'd think.
I am messing around in 3/4 time, and I got something that sorta sounds like Portal 2.
Anyone who performs regularly (rhythm guitar or bass), what do you do on stage? I'm in a band, we're somewhere between folk and indie rock type of thing. I play bass but apparently I look uninterested on stage which is mostly because I'm concentrating. I don't want to headbang or look like a douche. What should I do to aid my on-stage performance?
Smile, enjoy yourself and interact with the others in your band.

[editline]12th July 2011[/editline] Does anyone know any good drum break packs? I feel like slicing something else than amen break for a change.

Best thing to do is pretty much enjoy the music and imagine that the crowd is a part of your band.
Damn I like Serj Tankians Gate 21. A shame its so short. Especially the part from 1:10 to 1:30 on the studio version. Are there any similar songs, basically, fast, good vocal and piano?
Cool Found a vid of my band playing (I'm on guitar), not the best quality, but it sort of adds to the stoner feeling of the song. It was taken up in high quality though (Mic'd up etc) so I'll get those up soon aswell. What do you think?

You want us to form an opinion on your song (and stage performance?) from such a shitty recording? The cameraman needs to learn how to hold steady and not sway, it ruins everything and you shouldn't let him film any more of your stuff because he's not doing you a favour, like at all. Seems pretty groovy though, I'd love to hear the song when you get back the high-quality version. =)

And you expected us to have that knowledge? It makes a lot more sense the filming is the way it is now, it weren't when all you did was say "hi this is a recording of our song it's bad quality".

I did say it's not the best quality which usually means bad quality, chill dude...
Oi Dick, no need to be a dick.
