So, do you guys frequent any other music forums?
Personally I go to KVRaudio every once in a while, nice stuff there.

KVR is nice, but I never post there.
KVR is nice, but I never post there.
I think my postcount there is 2.
I always hang on www.drummerworld.com. Best drumming-website out there, and they even have pro-drummers like Gavin Harrison, posting there.
Buying EWQL soon, fuck yes. :smug:
Fucking hate writers block. Making music is the only fun time consuming activity I have right now until I get a damn job. I'll have to making something inside out genre wise then start fresh again.
what is the big deal with getting signed?
what is the big deal with getting signed?
Make money
Make money
other than this?
it seems like a stress thing with the copyright crap and all that stuff
i'd rather play live than getting signed though, and i'm sure you earn more from that money-wise than selling 10 copies of your EP to your friends within a year
no trust me being signed is a lot better
you can still play live when you're signed
no trust me being signed is a lot better

i meant making money off playing live instead of having your tunes signed
Yeah, but getting signed gets you publicity, and then you make more money from playing.
Signed is making money selling records on top of playing them live. What's not to like? Here in Norway you can register your tunes to Tono(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TONO) and get paid each time the tune is played live or on the radio.

That is amazing and should be global.

There is a service like that, it was mentioned in an issue of computer music, lemme dig it out
[editline]19th July 2011[/editline]
Yep, you need to register for MCPS here http://www.prsformusic.com/creators/wanttojoin/join_us/Pages/JoinMCPS.aspx
And PPL too http://www.ppluk.com/
It is a pretty confusing guide, but you should be able to register for some weird copyright thing, which makes people have to pay royalties. Honestly I dont get how it works, but feel free to figure it out.

It's a pretty raw version of the recordings my band got from the mixer guy, was just recorded with two mics
Forgive the solo, I hate it too

no
you're wrong
getting signed = advances
getting signed = being visible
being signed means you have a fucking PAID MARKETING TEAM. That's invaluable. Also connections, being able to get on label based tours.
But you will get fucked over generally even with that aside. You will get exposure, popularity, and money (sometimes you won't get popularity actually but still). Depends on who you sign with but 70% chance you'll get screwed over in one way or another that will make you furious, though you will get many other things you will have (most likely) absolutely no chance of getting otherwise.
I could go into detail if you'd like.

hahaha have you guys never heard of performance rights organizations? There are three HUGE ones in the US.

come on guys don't talk about the record industry if you know this little about it. Having your "tunes signed?" It's a lot more than that, particularly nowadays.
I've been contemplating buying a MacBook Pro since I've heard that they're better at performing live than Windows machines. Should I?
it doesn't matter what brand it is...
[editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
both OSes function equally well it's the software you're using that matters
[editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
as well as the hardware in terms of what you are using to record to the laptop

That's true. Windows laptops have always seemed kind of iffy to me, though.
well they're more difficult to use ie they are iffy if you are lazy and/or retarded
That's true. Windows laptops have always seemed kind of iffy to me, though.
They are just as good as any MacBook.
well they're more difficult to use ie they are iffy if you are lazy and/or retarded
I guess so. What are some good Windows laptops for music production?
Goddamnit, why do you guys always debate Mac vs PC's? Can't go anywhere these days..
The answer is this, use the OS you feel you know best.
Calling him lazy/retarded, is stupid. Let the man choose for himself.
it's not as if microsoft makes the fucking laptops..
ask here

They didn't really call him that and they didn't say PC was better then Mac, bro :v:
- snip -
Reading fast = not good.
what incredible insight

personally i think having both is best, while i only run reason 4 on my pc at the moment i definitely think having logic would widen my options for alot of stuff
if youre wondering what the most used tool is in the industry, i'd say logic

Industry standard is either ProTools(especially now that the new version doesn't require specific soundcards) and Logic.
I'm actually gonna build myself a computer pretty soon, but just to game on.
It's almost like the whole Ps3 vs Xbox debacle, where many just ended up buying both, and not regretting it.
