sonar has it down, it supports more file types, works generally the same, and I don't have any issues with it. of course I do keep several different audio workstations installed. I've got FL Studio, Ableton, Sonar, Pro Tools, and Reason. They're all amazing
come on guys don't talk about the record industry if you know this little about it. Having your "tunes signed?" It's a lot more than that, particularly nowadays.
Isn't that what people do though? they get a tune (a single tune) signed. I'm talking more about people who make electronic music on their computers. Bands would obviously be another story. I generally don't like "band music", but people who do everything on their computer have a much smaller chance at getting popular, unlike bands. Weren't these record deals meant for bands in the first place? they'd use a studio to record their performance for a deal, which is the people owning the studio would promote their music and sell it on CD's or LP's in this case and get some percent of the profit

That's not how it works. Daft punk and every other big name in techno is signed to a label. They're artists, not bands... Your concept of the point of a record deal in the first place is completely wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recording_contract I CBA to explain the rudimentary basics [editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
contracts vary, there aren't set things you have in the record industry there is a massive difference between an exclusive contract and getting a tune signed, but generally obth will get you way more publicity than if you put it out yourself
there is no such thing as getting a tune signed, seriously. you're thinking of licensing which usually happens through a label.
on a lighter, less argumentative note a preview for a tune lifestyle recordings should be releasing later on in the year. i didnt think a preview clip deserved its own thread, but id like to know your opinions

[editline]20th July 2011[/editline] Technically it's really really well made though, how do you get your drums so, uh, cool? Like there are lots of sounds there, any tips?
why did you quote my post lol
why did you quote my post lol
calm down mate
I love this, but it's way too ambient for my tastes. Edited: Technically it's really really well made though, how do you get your drums so, uh, cool? Like there are lots of sounds there, any tips?
usually i would say compression, but theres actually very little in this song, its just a mix of processing the drums alot to sound as pure and punchy as possible, and trying out alot of experimental stuff you usually wouldnt otherwise try

But not quite abstract enough to be 'just sounds'. It felt like it was just doing a bad replica of flutes. Rest of it had a great vibe though.
Does anyone know where I can find some good choir and string pad synths for FL Studio 10?
Kontakt has some nice choirs and strings.
Kontakt has some nice choirs and strings.
vienna nghgh
What's the best way of learning to program your own synths?
Read the manual, watch tutorials and experiment.
here's hefill by my band it's our more progressive side
here's hefill by my band it's our more progressive side
Either the recording or mixing is really bad. That or I shouldn't have fucked with my sound settings
The recording is just a live recording mate
This seems like as good a place as any to ask a question. I picked up FL studio yesterday, but I'm running into a problem. Some times when I add notes to the piano roll, they refuse to play. It doesn't matter whether i'm doing it with kicks, boobass, or 3xosc, it just refuses to play the notes. Some times it will happen while I'm editing, so half of the notes in a piano roll will play but the others wont. Any idea why this is happening?

I fixed it by removing the faulty notes and replacing them. If anyone knows a better solution, I'd be interested in hearing it.

So does anyone in here follow Drum and Bugle corps or know what Drum Corps International is?
Hasn't been working for me recently, I have to delete the whole mixer thing which isn't possible when I used it earlier in the track.
Try clicking a note that's playing and then replace all inaudible notes.
So does anyone in here follow Drum and Bugle corps or know what Drum Corps International is?
You should check the drumming discussion, in the music section. I know bitsponge and stupid09'er talking a lot about the corps.

It's that triangle in the upper left corner of the piano roll itself
Music made from the heart and emotion I was depressed today
Spaaaaaceeee. Makes me think about spaaaaacceeeeee. Slow and nice so far. I like the harmonies, the high end is slightly harsh, but that might be my headphones. Still going throooughh spaaaaceee. It ended. Kind of a sad end in some weird way. It is what it is.
When I write music I either want it to be as progressive and heavy as fuck or like this I want them to take a ride through my mind
