It looks like you wrote your name on the picture with a marker, and it doesn't look good at all
You should check the drumming discussion, in the music section. I know bitsponge and stupid09'er talking a lot about the corps.
Thanks

It's a cool picture, and okay alias, but post some music.
I picked up my bass and then it was 6 am
I hate it when this happens

This is awesome. There better be a kickass bassdrop after that.

So, I'm gonna take Intro to Music Theory this school year, and I already know a lottt about music, and I've been making it for almost half a year now. Will this class still help me a lot/have you guys taken it?
Just made this: http://sonisdnb.com/ickybass.mp3

Music theory certainly can't hurt. It's all about understanding why and how music works. Since you're taking an introduction class, I'm not sure how deep you'll get, but you might get into counterpoint at the end or start talking about chord progressions. What you learn isn't going to play into your compositions a lot (unless you compose mainly baroque or classical styled music), but it'll let you see and appreciate the works of the great composers a lot more fully.

Yeah, I've heard that the chord progressions and things like that helps a lot. I've also heard that it's one of the hardest classes. lmao.
Funny you guys talk about music theory, I've written a short guide on how (I think) you can become a better musician, and I would very much like any feedback and criticism you could possibly find on it.
Here's a link if you're lazy :

Thank you for taking the time to read it!
You'll never guess how I can get the melodies from my head into my songs.
What's a good, cheap mic for general recording, and what's a good portable recorder?

You record yourself humming them and use melodyne to figure it out? Oh wait you use Reason, no idea then

Tab switches between the views. If you want to compose music, screw session view(The one with the clips) and use arrangement view. Shift + t creats a new midi track and shift + t creates a new audio track. Ctrl + g makes a group, with which you can apply effects to a group of tracks, for example you could put all your drums in a group and apply compression.
Session view is great for djing ofc, but I'd learn arrangement view first.

Do you by any chance know how to make a reese like that?
Do you by any chance know how to make a reese like that?
It seems to me he highpassed the actual reese and added a sub below it, so it has like separation between low and hi frequencies

madness, thanks for the help- gonna take a while to get used to it

Yeah it's just detuned saw waves + chorus/phaser/notch filter and some subtle distortion and then EQ to taste (mids are definitely scooped pretty deep on that one), and there's a low pass filter with an LFO making it wiggle a bit. Sustained reese sounds like that are pretty easy to make, it's when you start doing crazy twisty shit that it gets hard.
Okay, here's my secret.
I think up a melody in my mind, usually takes around 5 seconds.
Then, note by note I enter them in a program while humming note by note.
Each note is "copied" from my mind to the program, then the notes are arranged so the melody has the correct speed and note length etc.
I think that's how most people work haha. I do that minus the humming. I'll throw down a couple initial notes or drum hits or whatever and hit play and then my head will fill in what comes next on it's own and I'll just make whatever I hear in my head come out of my DAW.
PS: Here is some interesting reese action: http://www.sonisdnb.com/wowza2.mp3 :)
Imagelines plugins are just getting better and better. This one seems pretty cool.
