Is there a darker form of electronic music? I've tried listening to stuff on internet radio and it is all way too peppy.
Listen to the album Too Dark Park by Skinny Puppy. Shit's intense.
Is there a darker form of electronic music? I've tried listening to stuff on internet radio and it is all way too peppy.
does dubstep count? [editline]23rd August 2011[/editline] classic dubstep by the way, brostep is just like farting into a microphone and hitting it with an LFO

One of my favourite artists of all time. [editline]23rd August 2011[/editline]
well to me it is that's all I'm saying [editline]23rd August 2011[/editline] it's all bad to me
I really get the feeling you haven't put effort into listening to a huge variety, so you I don't think you can say that.
Oh no! I have a bit of musician's block! What are ways you guys get over musician's block?
Honestly, I just force myself to sit down and start writing and edit what I write until I get something I'm happy with.

Try listening to Dark Ambient. Some of the stuff there gives even me nightmares.
Examples would be nice

He doesn't like electronic music, get over it? :P I hate opera very much. Wanna fight about it?!
I sometimes wonder if I could become an opera singer. Sometimes I wonder if I could become a singer.
Examples would be nice
sleep_research_facillity is dark ambient some of aphex twin is dark ambient burzum is dark ambient I guess [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] and on the topic of electronic music, I'm not a huge fan people always whinge that there is a massive variation in electronic and I can't seem to find it all follows the same formula really
burzum isn't dark ambient fuck you just kidding and yeah most of it sounds the same to me. the reason some chiptune type stuff works good for me (sort of) is because it doesn't rely on "sound effects" and bullshit that most techno (electronic music) does. I mean if you look at most electronic songs in a midi layout they are just really boring triads being played with different effects, and if not that just stupid sampling. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] I want to check out sleep research facility though aphex twin is interesting in concept but I don't actually want to listen to it lol
there's a mediafire link in my thread to sleep research and fair enough for aphex, I tried to dig it but it's a bit too minimalist need to try chiptunes, for the nostalgia factor you mentioned. 8 bit has this cool uplifting or really sad quality to it for me [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] http://www.mediafire.com/?mqqqzfui2yz it's there if you want it
thanks [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] here's the one chiptune whatever the fuck you call this composer that I like the only one, really even then I only like some of his stuff a lot of it I can't listen to
going it cranking right now got good news too, got guitar rig working but guitar rig 2, not 4. Still great, heaps of effects for me to use. Delays, phasers, distortion, amps, you name it. Try it with guitar rig 2 bro, you might have better luck and it's still a great program [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] also that song: I would consider listening to more. I would kill for some sad 8bit
Examples would be nice
Do you have Spotify? If so, here are some links to some scary shit(I can probably send you an invite). Schloss Tegal - The Myth of Meat(The last track is really nasty) http://open.spotify.com/album/4MmbeFY5FbcG2sgiMy3oCF Folkstorm http://open.spotify.com/album/0xgkuRrwCdiCtxnvGswvyF Genocide Organ http://open.spotify.com/album/0eTC0E8JZhyMLMO4Tm4I3T Here's also some introductory youtube-clips on the world of dark ambient. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umQ-3PlTS84&feature=related Part 4 Part 5 (Remember to use headphones).
sure that's cool and all I think it's cool but why would I listen to it I'm not going to say it's not music, but I will say it's devoid of melody and I can't imagine myself finding any time to listen to something like that other than in the background while playing STALKER or some shit. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] the 4th one has some substance at least I guess the 5th one does too but it's just crappy bach melodies and minor chords
True, it's pretty effective if you have a good imagination. I think maybe you're looking for dark electronic music with some kind of beat or melody?
I think it's pretty clear he's not looking for any electronic music at all

Some examples of very varied IDM/Electronic music.
You could also try some Venetian Snares. While we're talking about Aphex twin, check out this awesome jazz-cover of flim.
The best electronic is synthpop :) (Also italo and spacesynth of course)
