I think you should open your musical boundaries instead of judging music on if it's played by people or not. Simplicity isn't always bad you know.
wow im going to go fucking nuts i said it's subconscious I can't really do anything about it. it has nothing to do with simplicity, by the way. [editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
True. I admit myself I feel the same way about metal music as he does for electronic, I don't think that can be changed. Still I find electronic music a far broader term. All music is electronic these days if you think about it, unless its some kind of live orchestral perfomance. Why is a guitar recorded into a mic, into a computer and then compressed into an mp3 file more 'real' than a synthesizer? But lets not have a big discussion about it because I understand what he means.
Because it is played by a human rather than completely generated by a computer with no real human input [editline]25th August 2011[/editline] all music is electronic = you missing the point. i am talking about music generated with no human input, that's all. keyboards or whatever work fine with me. [editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
it's easier to make electronic music yes, but it's difficult for the average person to make something incredible. the same can be said for guitar, in a year someone can learn to play it but it doesn't mean they're going to be the next member of megadeth lol
so then what is your point? hahaha [editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
True but mixing is less important in acoustic music. In electronic mixing is like more than half the track Yes I realise it is really important for acoustic music too. I'm just saying, electronic music is not played live, it usually consists of more repetitive patterns, and relies more heavily on effects usage and a clean mix.
i think the point he is trying to make here is just from a musical standpoint the mixing has more effect and impact because of how drastically it can and is supposed to alter the sound where as with "acoustic" music ultimately the same thing is being played at the core regardless.
God, you guys are like Jehova's witnesses. He doesn't like electronic music period. Why do you guys even care?
i made a cool piano piece like those bach inventtos, should i post it here?
Yes
God, you guys are like Jehova's witnesses. He doesn't like electronic music period. Why do you guys even care?
i dont mind discussing it. if they want to take the time to find music they think I might like that is fine with me, no skin off my back however just saying "open your mind" won't do much good
you guys are fucking retarded NOOOOO YOU MUST LIKE ELECTRONICCCC WATCH ALL THESE VIDEOOSSSSSS [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] EXPAND YOUR TAASTTTESSSSSSSS
you guys are fucking retarded NOOOOO YOU MUST LIKE ELECTRONICCCC WATCH ALL THESE VIDEOOSSSSSS [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] EXPAND YOUR TAASTTTESSSSSSSS
lol calm down (fyi im perfectly fine with someone only liking accoustic music, being otherwise would be hypocritical as a few years ago i felt the same way)
I just think that it's laughable that these boy scouts are still going after two pages when it's clearly obvious that nobody cares or watches the videos they continue to post I hate it when somebody spams me with links to a kind of music I don't like and are like "cmon bro give it a try" when I don't really care, nor want to spend my time listening to them
My producing quality has sinked lower than ever, what do I do to fix this? [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] And by quality, I mean, all the music I tried to make in the last two weeks is shit.

Anybody here have a link to a good site for learning piano? I can't afford lesson, but I got a piano that my brother owned so I can use that, I just need a good place to learn.

Put it into words and write it down.

Take a break or soldier through, it'll come back.
I am going to release my EP the minute I can think of a good musical project name.
Making some progress on my Grime remix, please share your thoughts
DUde the bass is way too low. I can't hear it on anything. I can see it from the waveform but I can't hear it at all. I really wish I did it's a kickass track fixitfixitfixit
How's this? I changed the bass frequency slightly (hopefully it still retains subbyness while being audible for you haha), took hi-hats out in some parts, added a 4th section. http://soundcloud.com/thisisvirosa/chimpo-ft-drs-holdin-on-1

I want to start writing songs but I don't even know where to begin
What am I to do when I run out of soundcloud minutes?
use bandcamp instead because it's better
use bandcamp instead because it's better
can you change your username/band name whenever you want? I am still trying to think of a good musical project name.
I think you can just change the artist that released the album and go back and edit that later as well if you'd like. i mean an account on that site is more like a record label account than it is a band account. you can release material under any name, really [editline]28th August 2011[/editline] iirc that is
I want to start writing songs but I don't even know where to begin
The only way to start making music is to get any means of making music, I.E an instrument or electronic software where you can make music. So your first question ; Do you want to make acoustic (rock, hard rock etc) music or electronic (trance, dubstep etc) music? It's easier to make electronic music than acoustic since you can make full tracks all alone with electronic music whereas in acoustic music you need more than just a guitar (in most cases, obviously there are exceptions) or whatever type of instrument you want to invest in. Don't be fooled though, it is equally hard to make music in both "genres", but also extremely rewarding. So, acoustic or electronic? Maybe both?
what? neither, I have a guitar I play guitar and I get lessons I can improvise pretty well I just don't know how to begin the process of writing a song
Improvising and just fiddling around is a great way to finding stuff that sounds good, after you've found a riff or just a couple of chords that sound good you can start building on that foundation. You could start off with finding a riff that'll be the verse for your future song. After that you can find a similar but different riff to work as the chorus. You can then put the verse and chorus together, and build a stick that comes after the chorus. In fact, I'd want you to build a song that works like this structure; Intro Verse Chorus Verse Chorus Stick Chorus Chorus Outro Start off small, make a song that's between 1-2 minutes long. In fact, I'll let you have a riff that I've been currently working on (~105 bpm) You know how a metronome works I assume, the numbers above are each hit on the metronome. =) :::1---2---3---4---1---2---3---4--- D-----------6--6-6---------------- A--6--6-6--4--4-4--7--7-7--4--4-4 E--4--4-4----------5--5-5--2--2-2 :::1---2---3---4---1---2---3---4--- D-----------6--6-6---------------- A--6--6-6--4--4-4--7--7-7--9--9-9 E--4--4-4----------5--5-5--7--7-7
