I've played similar things myself many a time
Good, then you got a start for a song!
I just kind of noodle around a lot Maybe I'll start using guitar rig and the different effects to enhance my playing, loop a chord progression and play over the top of it
So I've been really trying to get Cubase to work but it just doesn't, it's terrible in so many ways and its fucking impossible to navigate and well its just fucking terrible I hate it, Reaper is just so much better in every possible aspect.

I had a hard time figuring out how to get guitar rig to work but I did it also vedi I might've found the solution to your problem with it go to the settings and stuff in the interface, options and go to the rig kontrol 1 option and try the left and right channels That's how I got mine working
"I can't figure out how to use a program so it has to be awful."
Yep!
Actually Cubase is very easy once you get into it. Though you're probably not missing out on anything if you decide not to learn Cubase. :v:

The problem is that it says that the output range is not connected, anyone has any clue what I can/must do to get it to work? [editline]28th August 2011[/editline] Ok even bigger problem now Whenever I record with Asio, I only get on the left channel. Whenever I record with directwave, I get on both channels BUT instead the shit fades out and sounds as if most frequencies are cut out All while everything is sort of distorted I fucking hate windows 7

Try checking that everything is okay on the output tab too. Might fix the outgoing sound. I have no idea if that's the shortcut though, I'm telling you this by memory. :v:
#for only 200gb of samples its a bit steep
It's not just the samples though- if we're looking at the same one, you get all of Native Instrument's VSTs, like Absynth and Massive, and lots of awesome effects. I've got Komplete 7 (there wasn't an ultimate in that version) and I fucking love it. I probably use at least one item from the package in every song I make. If you understand and use the collection to its fullest, it's a fucking great deal.

If you're asking me to share software I bought... na.
With drop boxes on soundcloud, can you link to a song you have uploaded already or do you have to re-upload it every time? EDIT: Nevermind, worked it out.
I have to write a composition for a woodwind or brass instrument (more instruments optional) for my composition class. I only know one person who plays woodwind/brass, and they play trombone. I need to have the composition outlined by Wednesday. This sucks.
Why are you complaining? It's a chance to get creative.
It's just that I don't really know any other musicians who would be able to play any other parts. One of my housemates plays piano. I could write something jazzy maybe, but I don't know much about jazz theory.
Can't it just be composed in a DAW? Or does your teacher have some weird restriction?

Why does it matter if your friend plays the trombone. Not like you have to compose it for him right?
