I'm not sure what type of thread this is, other than off-topic, but is there already a sort of "Help Thread" or production techniques, creating presets, recreating industry sounds, etc type of thread? If not, does anyone feel like there should be? However if this is that type of thread, does anyone have thoughts on how to create the bass(?) at: 0:30 Or even what that type of bass(?) that is called and I'll just do personal research on said name. I think a production technique thread would be highly appreciated. What bass are you talking about?
Can anyone tell me how to make the bass in this song?
Assign some LFO's to the cutoff of the filter. For the sub-bass use sine waves, for the lead bass layered on top maybe some square waves or saw's not sure... But LFO's are the answer to making the bass move.
I know about the LFO thing, but I just can't figure out how to make the lead bass.

What programs do you guys use to write your music?
Oh wow man I forgot to add the link:
I think that one will cover the basics of making a dirty electro bass like in the video. To make the sound in the video I would add a bass sample and tweak it and then add some glide in the sampler. Guitar Pro 5 masterrace
Guitar Pro 5 masterrace
I see your Guitar Pro 5 and raise you Guitar Pro 6 (too bad 6 sux dix :saddowns:).
Reason 5 + Record 1.5
Just curious, what do you guys use to make/record your music? I use Reason 5, but I've been interested in maybe trying out either Cubase, Logic, or Ableton. Can anyone offer some insight on them?
I use Cubase, haven't really used anything else other than Ableton live. Cubase is good because the interface is simple and you don't really need to know much music theory to understand it but it's still pretty deep if you wanna edit your recordings. Some people swear by Cubase but some people say it's too simple. Then again others say Reason is too simple and I still don't understand it at all. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
What programs do you guys use to write your music?
Cubase, Manuscripts, a pencil, a piano and a guitar
Logic 9.
When I get my USB-MIDI cable for my keyboard I'm gonna record the most awesome solo version of the Song of Storms ever. Found the perfect voices (Going through 483). One for the accordian, one for the rain, one for the thunder, and one for the piano of course. :keke:

That shit is awesome. :v:
Logic 9.
Never quite understood how to use that thing efficently. :saddowns:
After going through Reason, Cubase, ProTools and Sonar, I found Logic the best(in my opinion). It takes a while to get to know the program, but when you do, you discover that the layout and controls are very intuitive.
If you know how to use, hmm let's say Cubase, then it is pretty easy converting to Logic. It's actually pretty basic. If you're going in to the depths of logic it may get really hard, but overall it's a neat software which is really easy to understand imo.

Well, that's ironic :v: [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] What is it you don't get? It got a basic timeline and basic mixer .__. This guy got some pretty good logic tutorials: http://www.youtube.com/user/nzmusic101
I actually thought ProTools had the most cluttered interface, but I only used it for 2-3 months at school. I guess it's easy to get into, but most DAW's get difficult if you want to do advanced stuff.
What school do you attend?
I attended some media school and tried to major in sound production and mixing, but I got burned out since I also had to work with Flash Animation, 3d design, Web-design etc, while I was doing sound and composing music for videos. Now I'm gonna attend music-school and major in drums, so the skills I learned will definitely come in handy.
