I've come to the realization all of my music is shit welp
i know that feel bro... In my case it's a matter of learning basic music theory I think. I don't know what seems to be bothering you about your music, but as others have commented, just make music, watch tutorials, read books. Try to make every music session count.
You might want to check this out, remix competitiong, $4,500 worth of studio equipment as a prize and a trip to a studio in LA. http://www.indabamusic.com/opportunities/red-bull-rhythm-and-sound-contest
copyright hakita
you'll get 90% of the profits
you'll get 90% of the profits
90% of 0 is still 0, bro.
So I've just finished writing a 5000 word thesis kind of thing on sound acoustics and recording studio design, it's not hugely detailed (and I can't vouch for 100% accuracy of it :v:) but it's got some interesting tidbits and a fair amount of maths involved in it, would anyone be interested in reading it?
lol irony i'm making a song about fighting bears with bear hands yo
what ):
Finished my remix! What do you guys think?

I am keen to sort out the acoustics in my "Control Room" when I get some new monitors (Yamaha HS80Ms It seems) and I am sure I can pick up something useful from it!
The Facepunch Collaborative V seems to cost $5? Has the download limit been exceeded? I want to see the stats!
If you really think so, just make better music!
I'm trying and I just can't seem to find any riff that works, it just stands still and I can't find shit to glue various riffs together. Shit sucks so bad, I just want to make music and I just can't =(
i know that feel bro... In my case it's a matter of learning basic music theory I think. I guess I'll just have to wait until it works or something V:v:V
You might want to check this out, remix competitiong, $4,500 worth of studio equipment as a prize and a trip to a studio in LA. http://www.indabamusic.com/opportunities/red-bull-rhythm-and-sound-contest
I have no experience whatsoever in remixing, so this is going to be a lot of fun!
totally agree, man!!1
lololol So I have an idea for a thread, it's pretty much the creative music-thread but instead of wips you guys will post full songs (preferably one song at a time) and I will listen through it and give you my thoughts on every song. I will also talk about things that I think needs changing etc, even though they are completed songs. Or I'll just skip that last part and give you my thoughts on your music. Is this something you guys would like to see? [editline]13th September 2011[/editline]
The Facepunch Collaborative V seems to cost $5? Just keep trying and trying untill you come up with something to work with, but don't press yourself.
I am so fucking beat down I'm just about ready to give up [editline]13th September 2011[/editline] I can guarantee that you're never going to meet anyone more mentally unstable than every single person in my family it sounds angsty and everything but holy fuck you all need to see these lunatics to understand just how insane these people are [editline]13th September 2011[/editline] this isn't even the thread I meant to post in but I don't even care at this point
Tell us about it, if you wish to. [editline]13th September 2011[/editline] okey wtf [editline]13th September 2011[/editline] oh and look, imageshack censors the word "fuck" out of the file name
there's a pretty extensive history of mental illness in my family, ranging from schizophrenia to depression to all out kill-a-family-of-five insane. My grandmother is the worst, she's got a really nasty case of schizophrenia. She's the one I expect to go and kill someone at some point. My mother has a very mild case of schizophrenia but nothing too serious, her weak point is her passive-aggressive personality disorder. My aunt has severe obsessive compulsive disorder along with a severe histrionic personality disorder and me? I'm a diagnosed obsessive compulsive, depressive schizoid with a history of impulse control disorders currently including onychophagia, trichotillomania and several controlled substance addictions.
Not sure if anyone caught this, should I?
Go for it, it certainly wouldn't hurt.
yeah just do it, no reason not to
What plug-ins do you guys use for mastering? I've come to the point where I want to master my tunes at more than just 'good enough'
Aud-1 (Now Aud-2?) http://www.uaudio.com/uad-plug-ins.html Expensive but the plugins are top class. Other than that, Izotope Ozone is nice. Though I am personally thinking of moving to Out-the-box Mixing and mastering - I want to try some analogue flavoring. Beef up my pre-amp selection too, I soo want a TL Audio Ivory 2 5060.
Oh god, my Condenser mic didn't pass Customs Clearance. What's gonna happen to it?
Oh god, my Condenser mic didn't pass Customs Clearance. What's gonna happen to it?
you're probably not getting it back
I sent a report and the seller is going to give me a refund and send me a new one. I hope it will pass custom clearance this time.
Er, I got some idea that I can't quite get a hold of. Like I got what would happen before, and I can kind of hear what the part would sound like in my head, but I really don't know what it is. I don't know how to get around this. It's a paradox because I know what is in my head and I know it is conceivable, yet I have no idea what to put down to achieve it. Maybe I need some coffee.
Not sure if this is a problem with my speakers or just normal but this kick that i have keeps making a 'FWOOMP' noise over everything and it sounds really bad, I've tried everything but it won't go away. someone please help me
Use another kick? Could be a really strong subby kick or something
