I wonder what would happen if I'd try to learn how to use a tracker. :psyduck:
I attended some media school and tried to major in sound production and mixing, but I got burned out since I also had to work with Flash Animation, 3d design, Web-design etc, while I was doing sound and composing music for videos.
Now I'm gonna attend music-school and major in drums, so the skills I learned will definitely come in handy.
So is it "videregående medier og kommunikasjon" pardon my Norwegian
Oh, that sounds like a cool media school. I'm attending media classes to, but we only learn basic stuff, mostly film.
It was called OPIM in Hamar(Høgskole/College?), but the class got put down/renamed, because it was not optimized for learning and had some crappy teachers.
Hey guys, new song!
I think this is my first successful "emotional" song.

Hah, I just found out that my dad had a copy of Sonar 8.5 producer edition in our basement!
Installing it now, anyone know how it compares to FL studio?
Hmmm... I think the sonar interface is messy and does not look as nice as other DAW's. But I guess, it's pretty good when it comes to making music. But it definitively falls in my bottom list of DAW's.
I got Sonar 8.5 with my soundcard (Cakewalk UA-25 EX) and decided to try it out, but it was unbelieveably messy and outdated, didn't even bother to start looking throught things. Maybe I'll get onto it someday, for now, I prefer FL Studio.

Sonar X1 does look pretty slick though.
The piano roll seems to suck, I can't find a way to simply make it snap to the lines, which is annoying.
Anyone know the what name/term is for this noise I hear in a lot of songs:

Sort of sounds like water spraying/falling. Sounds like an effect :v:
That's a sweep. It's super easy to make.
Set one oscillator to white noise, slap a highpass filter on it and automate the cutoff
Does anyone here have an ocarina? I'm thinking of buying one, but are they really worth it? :v:
The ocarina is an awesome instrument, but they look like they're hard to play.
But hey, if you want one, I can't see why you shouldn't buy one
I'm definitely going to get one though. They don't cost anything. :v:
prepare your bodies for amazing ocarina solos :smug:
I purposely a 16-minute MIDI song

I've been hired to record some drums for a some people/company that makes loops that people can jam to. Problem is that my acoustic drums are packed in the attic, since I haven't got any place to record them. Shit sucks..

Why would they hire you if you can't record your drums?
They saw my youtube-videos, and sent me PM's, that they wanted me to record some drums for them.
I'm probably gonna set them up in my house and do a really quick recording. Don't know what the neighbors will think.

They don't seem particulary profesional if they just send you a PM asking you to record it.
Same for me. I'm doing it just for fun and to practice my grooving.
Hey guys - out of curiosity - do you like writing songs in your favorite genre the most, or do you have more fun writing music that's outside of your favorite genre? Similarly, do you find it easier to write pieces in your favorite genre than in other genres?
I don't even care about the genre.
I just write what comes into my mind and fits the rest of the song.
I can compose all sorts of music equally bad.
I try to vary my music as much as possible, think I've gone through very many genres now. Never perfected anyone of those though... still have a long way to go
Personally, I just do the music, and just add whatever I have to add to make the music sound good. Genres make music too narrow, it's all about expressing yourself and you don't decide "now I want to feel sad", you're either sad or you're not (or a mix of other feelings).
My biggest problem is that I make a lot of riffs that I think sound good enough, but none of them fit and I'm never able to finish any of them. My musical curse.
Do you have any friends to play with? I've noticed that it's a lot easier making riffs and the transitions between those riffs if you have someone or some people who can help you glue it together. =)
