drums you'll want at least 4 mics though. normally you'd run those through a full mixer board with ideally one mic per drum plus an overhead and 2 room mics
I don't have a drum kit, and my friend who can play drums, I assume can record them. It's mainly for bass and keyboards, and occasionally my friend's guitars. I'll have to buy drum samples at some stage though.

I'm going for it.
Hey guys, I'm about to buy this for the sake of hanging on my wall and adding to my guitar collection but it doesn't list the specifications and I don't know if it's something I'd actually want to play. All I know is it's a replica of the DG-335 custom Gibson guitar which sold for thousands of dollars until they stopped selling them, looks awesome, is hallow body, claim to work with other OEM manufacturers and it gets great feedback. Thoughts?

the neck looks smooth (and if it sticks some steel wool will fix that) and the wood looks good. don't know about the electronics but those are easy to replace.

So if needed I could go to my local guitar shop and they'd replace some of that if needed?

if you needed. the pickups are probably fine, I'd be more worried about the pots tbh.
the tuners and bridge look good too so you shouldn't need to replace anything.

Alright thank you mate, ordering away now.
actually at that price I'm considering buying something from them.

O YE
[editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
doesn't look anything like a g6120 but shit's nice
So I'm finally going towards digital recording but I was just wondering what I'd need. I'm a bit short on cash. I already have a Asus Xonar soundcard but I'm just wondering if there's any way that I could avoid buying a Line 6 pod and get top notch quality audio.
How many inputs? Also, do you need or want a DAW? A lot of these interfaces come with DAWs, some may just be trials, but some are the full version or stripped down versions. But the main question is how many inputs would you ever need?

No I don't need any software. I just want something with one input that I can use to play through my PC's speakers and mess around in some programs like Guitar Rig and Cubase
Any ideas on where to get vocal samples? Like, monks singing.. that kind of thing. Things like in the start of this:

Monk samples are easy to find. Look up Gregorian chants, they're plain vocals.
For that video, it's some kind of ethnic voice. I can't think of anything free, but there are a few quality sample libraries ($$$) that have that sort of thing.
Anyone? I need to find out what I need for my PC-guitar set up without setting me back $100-200 bucks
I got about $650 to spend on a Synthesizer. I'm planning to do house, trance, maybe daft punk style electronic or some mess around experimental.
Been looking at the Korg R3, that vocoder would come in useful.

Why do you want a synth? Are you gonna play live with it.
Really, for mostly everyone, I'm pretty sure investing in NI Massive and a decent midi keybaord would be a lot more valuable.

Actually, I do plan to play live with my friends. And I would love to have the ability to take it to the studio. Cause currently I'm stuck with a desktop.

Ah, that's cool then. I've heard great things about the R3, it is quite the step up from the microkorg.
Seems like a good choice to me.

You want to spend less than $100? This is something you are going to have to look for because most people buy more expensive interfaces.

forget musiciansfriend on interfaces, their selection isn't that good and what they have is overpriced
this is the one I always suggest to people looking for a good cheap interface

the only problem with it is that there's no onboard midrange control but most of the EQing is done way after tracking anyway
Maybe I'm being too harsh on myself, but I am having some serious doubts in my musical direction. I need advice on how to deal with it.

We all have our doubts, what is it that you're doubting? That the music might not be for you? Try making different genres of music, I refound my spark (sort of, guitar has broken down completely now so I can't really play it anymore) when I did an electronic track, try and do an acoustic track or just something you haven't done before.
Should I get an Electribe to compliment the R3? Ive heard they do well together. Im thinking either the EMX or the ESX.

It's not so much that I don't think I'm making the right music, it's that I feel like I am trying to be like some of my favorite bands. I'm also concerned about myself as a 'solo' musician. I kinda wish I were part of a group or collaboration, but I haven't found anyone who understands the ideas that I have.
I'm feeling like I'm playing pretend.

Well, that's part of music, you try and emulate things you like while still building on your experiences and emotions. Every band has done this, they've been in the same exact seat you're in now. Don't be disheartened by that, because your're only trying to emulate things that you love, and as previously mentioned the bands you're emulating have done the same thing.
I checked through your last.fm to see what you're trying to emulate, and I noticed that you seem to enjoy industrial and hardcore (with some minor alterations), I'm not sure exactly how telling this is of your actual musical taste since last.fm doesn't track everything you listen too, but I think your doubting on you just trying to emulate your favourite artist could come from a lack of musical width.
Industrial and hardcore are both pretty angry and hard musical genres, both very good genres mind you BUT (always the but) they are rather one-sided ; I think it would do you a lot of good in your growth as a solo musician (and musician in general) to try and take a break from your current favourite bands. Explore the musical world, find things that are the opposite of what you've been listening to.
I think your doubts comes from that you just have started to root into the ground, what used to be a fun exploring thing has turned into routine, and when things get stale, they get boring.
If you don't mind me asking, what would your ideas be? I can't help you with the music since I've just only started exploring electronic music (making that is), but I'd love to help you with trying to find out what your goals and ambitions are.
Try and put words out on paper on what your ideas are, try and really write out as intricate and informative as possible, make it readable to the whole world! You're maybe having trouble finding people because of some problem of conveying those ideas? I'd love to hear your ideas, you can either write them here if you want to, or PM me.
I'd be honoured to help you in any way with your musical growth. =)

Haha! I haven't used Last.fm in like a year! but I do listen to a lot of the industrial/experimental stuff. Some of it is quite the opposite of angry and downright peaceful.
I kinda just go with the flow when making music. Sometimes what starts off trying to be noisy and ambient ends up being bright and poppy (of course, these remain as loops on my hard drive). I don't think the main problem is musical diversity.
I've mentioned (and demonstrated) my stream of conciseness vocals. Essentially I just set up my mic, found some voices and started talking - then applied filters. I've written songs that follow a basic structure using this technique, but I don't know how to write the music for them. I've never taken singing lessons so I want to hide behind FX until I can find someone who can coach my voice.
I think the issue is that I feel like I suck at being my own producer.

Thanks mate, just ordered mine.
Hey guise, I just received the Roland MKB-300 for free, from someone who didn't need it anymore. What do you think?
Also, it seems to require midi for output, will hooking it up to my computer with a midi-usb cord and opening sibelius do the trick?
Anything that can interpret midi will work. I assume Sibelius can, though you may want to go for a DAW. As far as I'm aware Sibelius is more a composer and is similar to Guitar Pro.

Alright, yeah I have Pro Tools too, but my main concern is that it didn't come with a midi-usb cord, just a midi-midi.
A midi to usb cable would work fine if you don't have an audio interface. Realize that a lot of the older keyboards and controllers don't support USB.
