A midi to usb cable would work fine if you don't have an audio interface. Realize that a lot of the older keyboards and controllers don't support USB.
Ah, well I do have an audio interface (the Mbox 2 Mini) but it doesn't have a midi port. i guess i'll just have to try out the midi-usb when it arribes and hope for the best
Man, the score editor in Pro Tools is like it was made to be inconvenient. Maybe it's better in 9 or 10, but the one in 8, oh my god O_O
I just realized that FM synthesis is a lot like sex. Think about the sine wave getting it from the big square wave, and making a whole new sound after modulating each other because they didn't wear a LFO filter.
Are there any good singers that would like to do the vocals for a Christmas album where all the lyrics are changed to be about drugs? Below is an example of Jingle Bell Rock.
Light it up, Light it up, Light up the pot Light up the bowl and color it coal Toking and blowing up smoke is so fun Now the journey up has begun Toke it up, Toke it up, Toke up the pot Ice in the long-neck, we're gunna get bong-wrecked Sitting, side splitting laughter's ever so fair In the smoke filled air What a high time It's the right time To toke the day away This swell bud of mine is the best kind To get ya gliding in that one-toke way Pass it here, stoner man and Pick up your bong Smoke it around the clock Mix and a-mingle purple, orange and green That's the kind to smoke That's the time to toke That's the time to smoke pot
You would need a good voice, good recording ability, and to be able to record the parts quickly. The album is planned to be released before Christmas.
My sax quartet piece for my composition class got played today, it was pretty sweet, I got a lot of compliments. It was the most praise I've gotten for any of my music so far, it felt really good. Does anyone know of software where I can play and use effects and output them through PC speakers? Audacity can record but I want something like Guitar Rig where I can play live and hear the results back.

Amplitube is my favorite that does that, but it's expensive. [editline]8th December 2011[/editline] there is a free version of amplitube but it doesn't have all the effects that the paid version does http://www.ikmultimedia.com/amplitubefree/features/
Something free? none that I know of. Amplitube is my favorite that does that, but it's expensive.
Anything. I can and will pay for it but I already got the MultiMix 4 so I'd prefer not to actually pay for any hardware.
Anything. I can and will pay for it but I already got the MultiMix 4 so I'd prefer not to actually pay for any hardware.
there's no hardware you've got to pay for. I didn't buy any hardware when I got amplitube.
there's no hardware you've got to pay for. I didn't buy any hardware when I got amplitube.
Yeah I've tried everything and it just isn't working with the Multimix. I'm thinking of returning it and trying something else.
close steam, skype, anything that might capture the mic, in some setups those programs can cause issues with any interface.
Yeah still nothing and I'm trying this all on Cubase/Guitar Rig and Amplitube, the only thing that works is recording on Audacity.
what are the symptoms? are you using asio? do you have it set to the right channel?
Does anyone know any good VSTs for vinyl and lofi stuff? It's such a pain to gate vinyl noise to samples and that shit.
Apparently, when I work on my songs in Reason, the quality is worse than when I render it.
Interview with Feed Me ya'll might find interesting. Kind of weird how he seems so uninterested in DnB, it's almost a shame in a way because his stuff was incredible.
I've been getting these urges to record songs, all bass (Double bass, bass guitar, etc.), but I've never gotten around to figuring out how to record my stuff so it sounds good... :v: I really want to get into recording my stuff, but currently the only gear I have is an amp, bass guitars and a double. Any advice for a beginner in recording?
New song is finally done http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1147019

Just saw the gallows in a tiny venue, absolutely amazing. The singer came into the crowd and started fighting everyone. I got on his back, and got a punch in the face :v:
Been listening to jazz: Only these guys can come up with a crafty song title.
Playing a pretty big blues-gig tomorrow. Warming up for the biggest(local) band. They have some kind of blues-brothers theme going, and I'm already nervous..
im thinking of making a film called 'preparing for transcoding' a 3 hour long epic based on waiting

For me it usually takes about 10 minutes to export a song and convert it to any format possible [editline]20th December 2011[/editline] Just got myself a Fleabass, by the way. It was really cheap and it plays beautifully.

I've got a couple of files on soundcloud that still haven't transcoded after 3 months :v:
