I'm really not trying to sound like an ideas guy here or bring up shit that's been discussed in the past, but has the idea of a record label started by some people from MGR ever come up? I reckon it would be neat. It could help for those of us who are wanting to get their music out there and possibly sell it but won't change anything by creating their own label and are having trouble getting into other labels.
I dunno, much more to it than that but I don't want to go too far without decent responses, this post is making me feel 14 again.

About four times.
Nobody is just nonlazy enough to get off their asses and do it.
I kinda want to lead an experimental collaborative album.
Doing some composing, and I came up with this:

I'm loving the G# at bar 7.
Yeah I know I have some weird habits when it comes to notating :v:
i'm looking to get into electronic music development in the near future, just as another hobby. i've looked around and decided i'll use cubase as my workstation, but what other equipment will i need to work with?

Well you'll need cubase.
And then you'll need a tutorial.
Then you'll need a good book on music theory.
Aaand that's about it for hardware equipment.
Guys, who would be interested in doing a covers album?
I've been thinking about doing an FP tribute to dead artists album for a while now, where people choose a musician who's passed on (on a first come first serve basis) and cover a song of theirs, but I think I'd just get too busy to properly manage the thread. So if you're interested in that idea, killerteacup, I think it would make a pretty good covers album thread.

I think the good thing about it is that it would have a spirit similar to the Christmas album - concept based but no arguing about the concept. I like the idea of choosing a musician who has passed on too, it's a good tribute - though I think there might be a bit of debate about whether people should be allowed to choose living musicians.
I'd be happy to, so I'll write up the thread in the next day, once I'm not hungover from New Years and providing I haven't been shifted on at work tomorrow.
Alright so I just got a midi sampler (normally I wouldn't use one but I got this one half off brand new so I told myself why not?) and since I am a big time FL user can someone suggest me a good customizable sampler vst besides fpc?
Also what I got:

Looks like I'm finally getting a drum-room/studio where I can record and practice my acoustic drums. Gonna be awesome!

Drums are definitely my favorite instrument to play.
Sadly I don't have a set.
Har du digitale trommer, Thaard (eller hva nå disse pad-baserte trommesettene kalles)? Om du har det, kan du være en knupp og tromme på et cover av "Noen å hate"?

If you'd lived in Norway, I could have sold you a second hand Premier set that a friend of mine has(and never uses).
Other than that, you can buy a electric one(preferably Roland because of build quality) and buy a midi to usb converter. Plug it in your DAW, get a good drum vst like ezdrummer/superior drummer 2.0/addictive drums and play to your hearts desire. Then you wont have angry neighbors.
If you need help picking a set, I can help you :v:
I'm just about to sell my old ride cymbal to one of my drum-students. He's a bit indecisive though. He also wants a new x-box 360 with modern warfare.
Kids today..

Go speak Norwegian in the chat thread.

I was about to buy an electric kit some time ago. Never got around to it though, and now I don't even have enough money anymore.

Har det ja! Du har vel ikke en versjon av "Noen å hate" uten trommespor?
Here's an example on how my Roland + EZDrummer sounds. It's a tune I made with a keyboard- playing friend of mine. It's just the midi track though.

One thing that I like about electric drumkits is that they look sexy as fuck.
Really slick, soft looking.

Acoustic kits can look pretty damn sexy too! :v:

They can look, but usually don't.
I really dislike the look of this kit mostly because of the light color and I hate it when the toms are transparent.
okay :saddowns:
Christmas present for me is to spend my money on having my amp repaired and my guitar set up properly.

Bahh, can't seem to get a good orchestra-hit sound for Guitar Pro 6.
There's actually a finnish drum-builder that's called Kumu, that makes pretty smexy costum drums.

That second kit is awesome.

Not sure how allowed we are to use Norwegian outside of the chat thread, so I'll stick to English.
I don't have a drum-less version at the moment, but if my recording interface that I ordered gets here, I should be able to give you a rhythm guitar and bass track. If you could do with a version that has drums, use Honningbarna's version. The basic pattern is pretty straight-forward, so feel free to spice it up a little, throw in various fills and such. I'm not sure what BPM I want it to be at, but if you can actually record, play at whatever speed you're comfortable with.

I know the tune, just make sure you record with a metronome, and I will record ze drums when you send me the rythm/bass-thingy.
Send it as an mp3 file and say what BPM you used. Maybe we should take this through pm's. :v:

Maybe. I'll have to find a good way to record before I get my new stuff in the mail so you have something to base your shit off. I've only played guitar for a week, so it'll take a while to get a good run of that one, but once that's done I'll send it over to you.
I hate the way Sibelius sounds
I hate the way Sibelius sounds
Don't complain.
Finale is worse.
That feel when you spent the past one and a half hours recording the bass for a song, only to start doing guitar and realize you FORGOT a chorus and have to either craftily edit it (no idea how) or redo the entire thing.
Fuck.
