you'd have to put a midi cable into an interface anyway
It's recording on the FL Studio piano roll, so it's working

He's using an USB cable.
Why would a printer even have a MIDI port?

So I tried making everything sound a bit more prominent
How is this?

tone down the drums and give the guitar a small upper mid boost
Traditional music thread would be a quite neglected I fear, and it's all just music. Besides I like hearing how electronic musicians perceive an acoustic track, and how traditional musicans perceive an electronic track.
I would frequent a traditional music thread. I don't visit this section often, but that's mostly because I just don't really care for the electronic music which almost every thread is about.
Just got myself a Bass Big Muff Pi for my bass guitar. Holy fuck does it sound good. My first effects pedal, and I think I picked a winner.
Quick demo of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QG-eNx7Ye80
why do soundcloud make songs so much smaller in volume and also change things in song like my song i work on is sounding much different on soundcloud where guitar has no room but on original song i have on computer guitar is more in closer on listener so drums have space behind them if you know what i mean?
listen to it here

you can download too so if you have the time you can listen to first on soundcloud and later on downloaded track and hear difference, is there anything i can do to change this or will i always have to live with songs sounding smaller in internet but not in computer?
God I'm having the hardest time finding or creating synths/drum kits/etc that really fit my melodies and compositions. Does anyone have any general suggestions on how to choose?
Some guy with 25,000 followers just posted about me, awesome!
Like 7 or so posts down.. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Blizzard/169069579823911
It's really awesome to get publicity like that. Anyone else had things like that happen for them?
Weird that we don't have a thread with tutorials on getting started with music creation. Could gather all kinds of learning resources.

I think we had something like that once?
Hi all
I'm looking to get into music production - just interested as to the sort of software one might consider essential. That was the TL;DR part, so I'll explain myself a bit more below.
Yeah, although I've never really used any production software before, I don't want something basic or more focussed on ease of use than features as I don't want to be restricted creatively. I currently have no equipment whatsoever, but am not opposed to getting some in the future. Something I'm particularly interested in is the kinda 'live production' side of things (e.g. being able to do something like this http://youtu.be/8NuQxGQgik4) but I appreciate that before I do that I need to have all the sounds and arrangement there in the first place.
Initially I suppose I'd like to experiment with an array of different styles, but I don't think I'd ever just limit myself to a particular genre (or even make music within a genre), so versatility is important. I know it'll always be more rhythm-driven than melodic, but that's purely because Drum Kit is my main instrument, and my knowledge of it and appreciation of the finer points of rhythm is much greater than guitar/keyboard etc. Of course that's not to say I'm going to be another boring dubstep producer, but yeah I'd probably focus more on that than creating a catchy little hook.
So yeah that's it really. What do? All responses appreciated
