I hope the movie will be good, most of the movies that originated from games are shit, but I have my hopes up for this, because Bioshock was movie material to begin with.
no. please. games are an art form, and it really only works one way. it would be like trying to say what a ray Bradbury book is about in a single grammatically correct sentence. anyone else notice how games never, EVER work as movies? I'm willing to keep an open mind, but I'm not optimistic.
F, U, C, K, I, N, G. Anyways the only part I'm worried about is which ending they're gonna choose...
They're going to make one up, preferably the one the developers SHOULD HAVE put in, instead of worrying about petty "choice."
I went to universal studios and while walking through one of the prop rooms, I actually saw a bust of a head and taped to it was a note that said "Hold for Rapture." Rapture is the codename for the Bioshock movie, from what one of the workers told me. [IMG_thumb]http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/8521/rapturef.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Not to mention it's in the Bioshock font.
did you even play Bioshock? Rapture is the city, which is why it's the codename for the movie, and that font is the Rapture font, not the Bioshock font. It's used all over the city, the Bioshock font is just some common boldface font.
They're going to make one up, preferably the one the developers SHOULD HAVE put in, instead of worrying about petty "choice."
you mean the one with the die-drown-die-drown vita chamber ending?
you mean the one with the die-drown-die-drown vita chamber ending?
That's like Hell, only worse. So yes.
Well in most games you are pretty much alone because the AI on your team usually sucks and you do everything.
yeah but in most games you're not secluded to the bottom of the fucking ocean surrounded with people that threaten your life or try to kill you on site [editline]01:08PM[/editline]
If only he was still alive. He would have made a great Andrew Ryan.
i'm actually quite positive i read somewhere that he was where they got the idea. same voice, looks almost exactly like him
I find it consistently hilarious that every time a game to film conversion rears its ugly head, fanboys decide it might not be an unremitting pile of shit. There has NEVER been a good game to film and if this is good, I'll eat my hat. Also Gore Verbinski is arguing with Universal over budget, may be dropped as director.
That's like Hell, only worse. So yes.
I could stand watching that happen to fontaine. but wouldn't it stop after the generators stop working? and anyway, drowning is somewhat euphoric in the last few seconds I've heard.

Resident Evil Silent Hill (in some respects) Mortal Kombat

Also, the generators are Geothermal based, they are going to last for a LONG, LONG time.
I have mixed thoughts about this film, but I have some faith in Gore Verbinski after Pirates. I think a good candidate (who's alive that is [Vincent Price would have been awesome]) would be Liam Neeson. Especially if you've seen Schindler's List: Whatever happens, I hope it's good and does justice.
I must be really unobservant, but I missed the part where they revealed that the player is Andrew Ryan's son.
and anyway, drowning is somewhat euphoric in the last few seconds I've heard.
I'd like to meet the guy who said that.
I must be really unobservant, but I missed the part where they revealed that the player is Andrew Ryan's son.
It's merely hinted at really, on several occassions.
It's merely hinted at really, on several occassions.
Alright, I could hardly keep the names straight throughout the game.
It's merely hinted at really, on several occassions.
He actually outright says it.
Super Mario Bros. Resident Evil Silent Hill (in some respects) Mortal Kombat
Stop whining about Jack not speaking. He does talk at the start and doesn't talk to anyone afterwards because there is nothing to say.
Super Mario Bros. Resident Evil Silent Hill (in some respects) Mortal Kombat
The Resident Evil movies sucked ass
He actually outright says it.
I may have to play the game again, but, he doesn't really say anything like 'I am your father'. He implies it. From what I remember.
It'll no doubt be mind blowing in terms of special effects, sets, and costume but will fall down with storytelling. 'Tis typical of old Gore.
What exactly are we talking about here now? Bioshock or Transformers?
I hope they fix the completely shitty ending.
The excuse developer use today is they don't make the character talk because it disrupts the flow of the game. They want you to think what the character is saying. Jack is supposed to talk in Bioshock, he just doesn't iname. Pretty much all game are like this now. Example Dead Space, Issac doesn't talk (other than screaming of course) but he has log and the objective are written in first person and the other character react like he had spoken to them. Just because the character doesn't talk ingame doesn't mean they can't at all. It's a choice by developer to let you "Fill in the blanks"
Seems feasible, Gore Verbinski is an awesome director and John Logan has written some honorable movies. I'd see it!
i hated the game
cool, rate me disagree. i really did like it you're right
I'm going to laugh when it turns out to be exactly like the game. And then people bitch about it. There is no pleasing you.
Super Mario Bros. Resident Evil Silent Hill (in some respects) Mortal Kombat
What. Super Mario Bro's was horrific. All the Resident Evil movies sucked. Silent Hill sucked. Mortal Kombat was just....No. You have a bad taste in movies
I really hope that this movie turns out as good as the game, it has a lot of potential.
They're going to make one up, preferably the one the developers SHOULD HAVE put in, instead of worrying about petty "choice."
The ending was forced on them by 2k. The whole dev team and the guy who wrote the storyline for the game all refused to do that ending for a while, but they finally gave in.
Really hoping this turns out to be as good as the potential it has to be good.
