Hydroponics are not required, if you believe they are then you have little knowledge on the subject. Compact fluorescents lamps are often used in small grows now a days, they cost as much as a normal light bulb. They are not as effective as previously mentioned HPS's or metal halides, but they provide sufficient light to get decent results. Fertilizers are also not required, yes they do give your plant a boost and are recommended. Still, fertilizers that are suitable for growing Cannabis can be found nearly anywhere. The fact that he could not remain calm and had to start flaming me is irrelevant, that's something that he has to work on, not me. My definition of experience is when you attain knowledge gained through involvement, I have had such. It doesn't make me an expert of any kind, I have just had experience with it.

It's as easy as that, the more you know, and the more money you spent on it, the better weed you'll get in the end. Now think about it, do you really want to waste up to 8 weeks(corrigate me if I'm wrong) just for some shit weed, when in that time, you could have some nice bud?

Not sure for ventilation, what would you recommend?

Mercury vapor lamps do not emit much beneficial light, even when compared to fluorescent lamps. I also can not recommend a ventilation system without knowing exactly what lamp/lamps you're going to use. How many plants are you looking to grow?
