How do I convince my "anarchist" friend he's an idiot?

Leave him alone. He's free to his own opinions, whether you share them or not. IMHO, if you can't accept that your friends' opinions differ from yours, and have to fight him about them, then you aren't a terribly good friend, are you?
One day when he hits puberty he'll move out of this phase.
Your friend is right.
Tell him to move to Somalia.

He isn't.
I try to buy them out with Company A, but apparently the refuse. I now hire a private militia and bomb their headquarters and assassinate their CEO.
Stopped reading here. Tell your friend he's an asshat and forget about it, because you can't fix stupid.
I knew a guy just like this, always went on that we trade blood for money and etc. So every time it was getting close to conversation like that I just steered it a different way.
He's just an attention seeker, trying to be different.
I'm an anarchist myself, it seems your friend has got the right idea, but he's a little misinformed. A lot of his arguments are feeble or open-ended.
Beat the shit out of him, after all he's an archarist so there's no police force to arrest you in his magical world.
Ugh, classic brainwashed media fed bullshit here.
Anarchy means no rulers, not no rules. Look at the etymology of the word 'anarchy'.
an = no
archy = rulers
Browsing the pages of this thread, I see a lot of uninformed posts here. I recommend you guys read this to understand anarchy better: http://www.infoshop.org/faq/secA1.html
Yo man I wear ripped jeans and tank tops and wool caps in the summer cause it makes me look like a rebel. I hate the government man, they suck man. Ya.
OP might want to consider the he is actually the dumb one.

Or that his friend is actually the dumb one. And you can join him too.

Yes, it is much the same. Is that your final answer?
Explain to him
Anarchy can not exist, If there was no governmental power or force, then there would be gangs or groups of people that would seize power. Even with police there are gangs that try to control neighborhoods and areas.
Without any powerful force to stop them, what's to keep a tyrant from 'taking over.'
But like others have said, he is probably solely convinced in his ideals if he won't even acknowledge what you've told him already.

You could write a whole essay on that question. Yes, even that. Perhaps. "Without your space helmet Dave, you're going to find that rather difficult" -- HAL.
But a government nonetheless, proving that Anarchism is not permanent.
What's ironic is that the majority of people in Somalia want a stable government, yet ignorant westerners use them as an example of Anarchists.
I use them as an example for libertarianism.
So you like hanging out with idiots like your friend, eh?

viva la resistance!
Why don't we listen to this man more? Why?!
In the end anarchists are, in my opinion, sorely optimistic. Awfully naive of them, but what can I say I'm somewhat of a realist.
Make him listen to this.
So, like, taxes?
You get to choose which services you want, and apparently it's going to be cheaper than taxes somehow.
The thing is, who would not want any of those services? What if you can't afford it? The good thing about a government is that you're protected whether you have money or not.
