Saw it today and it was pretty funny. The michael cera part was genius.
I thought it was fucking hilarious, but my family did not approve.
My Mom is very religious, so she hated how blasphemous it was.
My Dad didn't like how crude the humor was. I think he was expecting something a bit more lighthearted.
My Brother didn't like it mostly for the same reasons as my Mom, though he doesn't admit it. He despises anything that brings up religion because he doesn't like to consider the afterlife and whatnot.
So I stand alone on my verdict in saying that this film was seriously the best I have seen this year. I wouldn't say it in front of them (my Mom would probably kill me) but I thought it was great. My only problems were the ending and the fact that they didn't play up the "celebrity" aspect of it all. There was some references here and there about past movies (my favorite line is that, when they discuss talking about making sequels to their movies, one of the crew [I think Franco] says "Please tell me we are not doing Your Highness 2") but most of the time it just felt like these guys were playing characters again, rather than being themselves. Granted, it probably made it funnier that they were being crazy with it all, but I just feel like there is not point having them portray themselves if they don't actually act like themselves.
The other problem was that fucking ending. [sp]Seriously, why the fuck did any of it happen? I was hoping in vain they would just cut to Jay and Seth just flipping shit on the floor of Franco's house on some bad drugs, but instead I got fucking Backstreet Boys. Seriously, why?[/sp]
Other than that, the film was fucking hilarious and it was a great concept. Even the theme of the movie, all about redemption and stuff, was very noble, although it falls a bit flat in context.

Basically this when I went to see the movie with my family. My overly religious mother and father didn't approve. I thought it was a pretty damn good comedy.
I doesn't really seem like a family movie :v:
I've not seen it yet (not out in the UK yet, next Friday I think) but Pineapple Express was on TV last night and it is so fucking funny and great. Cannot wait for this.
I saw it today, and it was the most consistently funny and entertaining movie I've soon in a long time. I was giddy when I left the theater.
I'm still giggling about that fucking ending. You can tell they really had fun making this movie. What more can you ask for?
I don't know why, but I fucking hate Danny McBride. In every movie he's in, I hate him so much, but I can't stop myself from laughing at the shit he does.
polar opposite, i love him. eastbound and down, land of the lost etc
still thought craig robinson stole the show, he was hilarious
Great movie. Would recommend.
I'm surprised my mother liked it because she's quite religious.
It's a really great movie. Apparently the co-writer/co-director is interested in making a sequel so we'll see how that will turnout.
this movie was awesome, so much better than I thought it would be
The movie was enjoyable. It was pretty funny. Thought MC was hilarious.
I haven't liked a comedy since Black Dynamite, and I thought this movie was really good. They had so much fun making this movie and it shows.

What would the sequel even be about?

I have a feeling he was joking. Kinda like Pineapple Express 2
Even though they were only joking Pineapple Express 2 is something that needs to happen
Odd question, but I've been watching a lot of movies recently and there was a joke from one of them that I couldn't remember regarding Taco Bell, was it from This is the End? Something like 20 dollars can get you infinite Taco Bell

Best comedy in past 6 years
Fuckin weird movie, some pretty funny scenes though. And the Backstreet Boys? They're back?
Here's something that was confusing me throughout the whole movie. I had no idea how old any of these guys were. I didn't know why Jay and Seth would be such good friends when Seth was like 10 years older than him. Welp apparently Jay is a week older, and Jonah is only a year younger than them.
That cleared up a lot of things.
I thought this movie was pretty hilarious. I like movies like this, where they take an idea and really run with it. Plus there are a lot of funny throwaway lines like "You can't handle my midriff".
