Swimming is a good skill to have if you don't already know how. I'm always shocked to hear when people can't swim because it comes so easy to me but then I realize that some people just never have learnt it.

Augh, I forgot to make an in between for the poll, I was rushing a bit to get to finish up Mass Effect 2. Can a moderator edit the poll or something? Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Except for you Gay, you're just trying to get me killed, aren't you? Also, look at the poll, some people can't swim either.. Given that most of the worlds surface is covered in water, you'd think most people would want to learn how to navigate it.
It's really hard to learn how I learned by jumping in the ~DEEP END OF THE POOL~
I fell into the deep end of a pool before.. I naturally rolled up into a ball (no idea why) and just floated to the top, climbed out crying. I was.. 6?
I swam so much I got bored of the surface. So I learned to SCUBA dive.
As long as you lay flat and don't flail around you'll float. So don't panic, float, and take it from there.
If you learn how to tread on your own, it will boost your confidence and motivation in swimming.
I'm an excellent swimmer. I never took classes or anything. My brother just taught me and I learned really quick.
Although most would argue otherwise. I honestly think swimming should be an essential skill everyone should posses.
I never got how you could not know how to swim, it's just jump in the water, move arms and legs really fast, swim get.
Although most would argue otherwise. I honestly think swimming should be an essential skill everyone should posses.
why would anyone argue
I never got how you could not know how to swim, it's just jump in the water, move arms and legs really fast, swim get.
And if I don't get?
Some simple pointers Backstroke, in order to keep going in a straight line if you're in an indoor poor, follow a crossbeam with your eyes on the ceiling Freestyle, when taking a breath try to regulate based on how many strokes, such as 2-3 strokes per breath. Tilt your head to the side just enough to get the corner of your mouth above the water, this'll speed you up a lot. And in general remember to cup your hands otherwise you'll go slow as hell.
OP, you'll have little to no difficulty obtaining the knowledge to do more than rudimentary swimming. Even infants are capable of swimming without aid. Sure, it is relatively disheartening and ominous if you haven't attempted it before, however, you will learn. There is nothing to lose, and much to gain. Such is life.
OP just isn't trying hard enough. All you have to do is jump in and kick your legs, move your arms there is no "not getting it", its something you should just know how to do

I used to do competitive swimming 4 nights a week. [editline]12:49AM[/editline] I was like 40 sec for a 50m freestyle when I was like 12.
I'm just so discouraged that I have taken summer swimming lessons and still cannot swim, float even.
Don't be discouraged! You can do it, just keep trying!
Don't be discouraged! You can do it, just keep trying!
Thanks, I was googling a picture of how I feel, but can't find what I want. I'm sort of looking forward to the swimming lessons now.. can't wait to post my success story.
I have a SCUBA license and I definitely believe that diving is the best part of swimming. Once you learn how to swim and dive, you'll never forget.
I have a SCUBA license and I definitely believe that diving is the best part of swimming. Once you learn how to swim and dive, you'll never forget.
Is it worth learning it even though I may not ever use it, just because of the experience?
I can survive long enough to get to the edge of the pool if I get pushed in, but no, I can't swim.
i hear these fellows invented this thing called a "BOAT" or something i dunno i don't think it will catch on
Boats know how to swim You're not dumber than a boat are you
I'm just so discouraged that I have taken summer swimming lessons and still cannot swim, float even.
How can you not float? Just take a deep breath and hold it, there's literally nothing else to it besides making sure you're floating face up.
Boats know how to swim You're not dumber than a boat are you
fool boats know how to float
I can't swim. I'm 16. I'm scared of water. I live in Hawaii.
I can't swim. I'm 16. I'm scared of water. I live in Hawaii.
Post that on FML, post comments.
I love swimming, i've been competitavly swimming on a team for the past 9 months. OP, exhale out your nose as you swim, it help tremendously Breathing is a priviladge, not a right Pace yourself, or else you get tired. If you get tired, theres no bench to sit on,You die And remember, less drag (speedos and jammers!) are a good thing, avoid loose bathing suits.
