But like I said it depends on the gun.
I usually go with smoke or sparks.
The gun detlef may be using maybe a The 870 mcs

They look like that for a very brief moment (if at all) in daylight, and it's daylight in the comic.
Either way, it's not like every single muzzle flash is going to be drawn at the same time sequence of firing, so it's not even a big deal.
