Its not cosplaying however.

They are legitimate prostitutes as in you pay real money/lindens(some go around 10$USD) to have them do what you want. Sometimes it will just be for bumping pixels and other times they will go on cam/voice(pro tip they are all fat hambeasts).

However this isn't even close to the "worst" second life can get. Also it can be pretty fun some of the stuff you can do.
