Talk about painting, does anyone know a good paintsheme for the racecar that hasn't been done a 1000 times?
For now I'm gonna spray it white, because the enginebay + inside has to be white anyway. However I'm thinking it would be cool to make it green like the other car. So I'll have 2 cars in the same color... I don't know :v:

I'm quite frankly impressed with this guy. Restoring a normal ICE vehicle is a mounting task, but to try to restore a Tesla.. good god. Happy to see that he has made incredible progress on the vehicle and has made it (almost) a daily driver state with minor problems.
Who would have thought that for fronting 28k for the vehicles and then a year of labor that he would have a fully fuctional Tesla Model S for ~16k.
Good lord how is his wife still married to him.
Not saying she should divorce him, but damn that is some serious dedication and patience.
I got to page 45 or something and went to bed, was a great read.
He got it driving? Holy shit, I got to keep reading.

aw fuck he gave up at page 56

I'd drive one, but only if I could find a camper shell for it because I've literally never seen one in the flesh
I've always wanted one, preferably turbo.
One in my area is the exact same as that one. Same color, top, etc.

Not gonna lie I really digg the kawasaki green on your big male weiner.
There's no way that you can use the OBD port to collect mileage data, right?
There's no way that you can use the OBD port to collect mileage data, right?
It would be highly OEM specific and even most tuners cant touch that data. So your in the clear.
If your using a insurance OBD dilly then your safe.

I was actually hoping to use the OBD to set up some automated recording of my mileage for work/taxes so I don't have to do shit myself. Figured as much, though. Thanks.

They make some for that but its GPS.

Yes you can...? I do it with my ODBII scanner and Torque. It does MPG calculations with it, but you can also just have a trip.
The mileage counter is a standard because it's the same thing that ticks up the car's odometer. So, unless your wheels are the wrong size, it should work fine.

Yeah, I can see the registered distance driven via OBD, but then again I can also change it with VCDS and some hacky coding.
So it honestly depends on the OBD version, if OBD-II, then definitely, if OBD-1, then it's vehicle specific.
They make some for that but its GPS.
Nah I need the actual mileage values, numerical miles I can automate fine via other methods.

Like mpg? I have a Bluetooth scanner with the torque app and it gives me both instant and an average mpg.

Speaking of the devil, what's the cheapest OBD-II bluetooth adapter that's isn't a piece of Chinese garbage and can be acquired worldwide.
Been through a few ebay-tier Chinese ones and they all have different annoying issues.

I've been planning (the most basic stages, i.e. "I want to go on a road trip!") a road trip for the summer to California. My roommate wants to join me. And now we have a destination! We're going to register with a local car club for a track day they're hosting at Laguna Seca! Cost is just over $200 each for a track day there. I'll be bringing the Miata, and he his C6 Vette.

Stay the fuck away. You'll leave with three new genders and a fear of 'assault weapons.' From a Californian with love, go to Oregon.
Who's used fuel cells before? I've got a question on mine.
I have an RJS 8 gal that I'm gonna strap in the trunk of the Celica, since my factory tank was toast.
Similar to this;

It has 2 ports on the top, one that's a pickup and one that's meant for a return line.
Obviously I'm just running one line, pressure regulated, no return. So I figure I need to use the return port as my tank vent.
I wanted to verify.. can I run a hose up, loop in, then drop it through the trunk floor with a little filter or something? That should avoid any sloshing and also avoid anything stupid like a siphon effect (although without a pickup going down into the fuel I shouldn't have to worry about that anyway I suppose).
I feel like this is pretty important to get right, haha!
run your vent into the cabin. if you're gonna waste gas venting to atmosphere you might as well at least get high off it
[editline]28th December 2016[/editline]
I've always just vented my fuel cells out the original filler cap. means less holes to drill
[thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/FBE04946-FAAD-468E-84CE-208FDEACFE21_zpskaueskoc.jpg[/thumb]
Finished the top truss... only to figure out that my measurements are .5 of an inch off for height. All the hard work is done for the majority of designing and figuring shit out.
Bottom truss is done... but I'm wondering if I should space the slats out or maybe put some lettering in it?
That design -> part shit is cool Valon. I thought making a sticker was neat, but getting a full real life piece of metal from a computer design is a whole new level.
I would vent the gas tank into the cabin but it might throw off the aesthetic of the exhaust gas I already planned to have routed in there.
Going to try something new. The new cars are routing exhaust noise into the cabin to make it sound cooler. I figure if I route the whole exhaust in there it should be mean as hell. Plus I get to enjoy all the noise and on the outside the cops won't hear it as much.
If you want any custom stuff possibly made let me know, I'll need stickers eventually so I could work a deal out! Be cool to see some of the thing I make on here, I want to broaden my market as much as possible.
Let me know when you're officially stamping out sheetmetal :v:
Louvers.. front lip, side skirts and flares.. the possibilities. Right now they're all going to be cobbled together from got knows what other cars.

they're usually routing intake noise rather than exhaust noise, but nothing beats a little carbon monoxide

Run your vent as you described. If you have no return then just attach a short piece of hose to it, then make a bent piece of brake line that goes up in a loop to the highest part of the trunk then down and out the floor. It wont siphon. Soft hose theres a possiblity of it falls over and then somehow uprights but those would be exactly perfectly wrong conditions. No need for a filter or anything. 1/4" tube will be fine. Explosions arent cool. For your bend make sure you change directions. Make a balloon shape. Not a rocket shape. Hopefully that makes sense...

I probably should have said "odometer data" as that would have caused less confusion.
