get that salvage one, toss some new seals in it, and call it a day. the bearings are probably fine
I'm going to start this off with a disclaimer: I'm not good with cars what so ever and won't even attempt to act like I know anything besides the basics. A family friend (mechanic) recently bought and fixed up a 2000 Plymouth Neon and is offering to sell it to me for $1,000. Would you guys say this is worth it? Also, what's the difference between Dodge and Plymouth? I see a lot more Dodge Neon's out on the road as opposed to Plymouth. Is there a reason?
Yes. No. Circle which ever one you would like. They all contain a device that makes explosions and drives down the road.

Is there a reason?
the plymouth brand wasn't selling well in it's later years, but the neon was a solid platform so chrysler gave that nameplate to dodge when plymouth was dissolved. there are a few reasons you see more dodge neons than plymouth neons on the road. the dodge neons are newer so more of them are still around and the annual production numbers for dodge neons were higher. basically you see more dodges on the road because there are more dodges to be on the road for $1000 if he really did fix it up properly and not just fix whatever problem it had when he bought it then it's a steal. if he just fixed the full on broken things and not the badly worn things then I wouldn't do it. neons are reasonably economical and have good aftermarket support e: oh and the srt4 massively bolstered the sales numbers for dodge neons. the existence of a properly fast car on that platform meant a lot of younger people liked them, and the ones who could afford a base trim but not an srt4 will have bought the base trim. caveat to this: a lot of neons are beat to hell. [editline]31st December 2016[/editline] the motor if it's the 2 liter dohc is shared with the mitsubishi eclipse of the same year and the sohc 2 liter is shared with the newer sohc neons. afaik all the suspension components are shared between dodge and plymouth neons, but if not I think pt cruisers used a lot of the same suspension parts as the plymouth all that to say mods ahoy
If it's a DOHC Neon coupe. Fuck yes. If it's a DOHC sedan, sure thing. If it's a SOHC, nah, not really worth much, pending mileage. However... If it's a SOHC with the Magnum head... Do it... if it's a plymouth then it doesn't have the magnum head
I've seen more riced neons than civics tbh
it'll bolt right up though if you can get your hands on one. pretty sure the magnum cam will drop right in too but then you don't get the bigger exhaust port and those actually decent headers to go with them.
I trust that the mechanic wouldn't sell me a half-assed "fixed" car, as I said he's a very close family friend - he doesn't seem the type. Considering he fixes my cars for free when they have problems, he doesn't seem the type to try and sell me a car that will have more problems down the road.
Found a SC400 that had it's ass chopped off. I don't know the guy, so I'll leave that to your better judgement, but if it were me family friend or not I'd get in there and look for myself what sort of suspension and brakes situation we're looking at, and once I'm done with that I'd take it for a spin and really beat the shit out of it on a "closed course" to make sure she sounds healthy and shifts right. me personally, I never assume that the last guy did it right. especially if the last guy was me, cause usually when I'm wrenching I get 3 or 4 or 9 beers and 8 or 10 cigarettes in me over the course of the job

Drove my motorcycle today, it was a weird feeling being on two wheels on new years eve, but it was pretty awesome. Had to keep the throttle open to keep it from dying because of the shite stator that only provides 11V on one of the coils (the others are only at 4-5V), and the ignition switch is bad so it sometimes wouldn't come on right away, and even died while riding once. Can't wait to get my big-bike license and go riding with my mates this summer!

Just got a 2003 Lexus IS 300, thing is dope as hell. I'll be at a stoplight and then when I pull away I shoot like a mile ahead of everyone else. It's a great first car.

Seems like a bit mutch for the mullet of camaros. That dash is hideous as well. I don't mind the cars, but they really messed up that front clip, could've done much better. I'd probably put it at $5500 fair market value.
aren't all camaros pretty much mullets though
this is a mullet camaros are just wifebeaters

Speedometers are for chumps
Can someone help me ID this car?
Can someone help me ID this car?
It looks like a Triumph of some sort or a Porsche 914
this is a mullet camaros are just wifebeaters
I say it'd be on the bottom list of mullets. Mullets need "Mah V8". That little carbed 2.2L isn't impressing any one.
It looks like a Triumph of some sort or a Porsche 914
Looks for all the world like an FB RX7 convertible, except it's missing the body mouldings and the fact that all SA/FB RX7s had the fuel filler on the left side. Only other car I can think of with a rear end like that is an '80s Mercury Cougar, but the door position relative to the wheelbase is wrong for that. Also no body mouldings. Do you have any more pictures?
Can someone help me ID this car?
Had an interesting browsing session but I managed to find it. It's a Kelly Python. A Ford prototype according to wikipedia, of which only 12 have been made. https://jalopnik.com/5914598/for-14300-feel-the-pythons-grip
Thats a fuckin slick car, with some time and fiberglass skills and a mustang underside, one could maybe replicae something similar. Maybe. Also, NEW YEARS MOTHER FUCKERS! SHITS EXPLODING AND DRONES ARE FLYING!
I was hoping to quickly fix my SUS, but funds for it are trickling in. Gotta do struts, brake pads, trans fluid, wheels at some point (rough, one is mildly bent), think a wheel bearing is howling, exhaust leak, rust, alignment. The car itself is great. Engine burns no oil, transmission + diffs feel perfect, but odds and ends are iffy. I feel bad that it was so neglected, with how rare it is.
