Is it just me or are all of your pictures broken [editline]3rd January 2017[/editline] ...And reloading the page fixed all of them [editline]3rd January 2017[/editline]
Dad sent me this pic today: Fire.jpg
Any idea how it started?
Any idea how it started?
The expert dudes say it seems to have started near the driver area. What I'm thinking is the fuse box.
I don't know anyone who's had their insurance fuck them around when it comes to handling their cases in a timely manner. But a few have tried their insurance tried to fuck them over with too low compensation. Also my car was repaired over the insurance for over half I bought it for just for that one deer, let's just say the guy at the local Insurance office got a little shock when he saw the bill :v:
I got $9000 for a car I paid $5000 for, had my cash in a month I think. I shouldn't have even gotten money because I was being a moron, but it all worked out in the end.
Is working on cars something y'all do for a living or is it just a hobby for some of you?
There was no way I was going to pay a mechanic to do routine shit on my old Cavalier when I was still a college student. It just wasn't worth it when I had a decent amount of free time and a desire to learn something new. Working on your own car is immensely satisfying and saves you a shitload of money. Not to mention, it's manly. Then I got really lame and bought a new Golf that has nothing wrong with it. Now I have to find other things to do until it needs an oil change or some shit.
spot the problems... oh god
I'm trying to figure out what that fleshy stuff is. Saw a Subaru XT today, really like the looks of those cars.

:( [editline]4th January 2017[/editline] At least she looked cute on my moped. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Fzpr66n.jpg[/t]
So you're saying there's a chance
Your right. Found out the main reason she's a lesbian and I didn't catch on.
At least you know now! Better than being dragged along. Dont burn any bridges though, keep on good terms if you like talking with her and down the road she could show you to some of her friends, I know thats worked for me in the past.
Tell me about it... Someone backed into me while I was standing still... happend a couple of days ago. It's gonna take at least a a good 6 months before it gets repaired due to slow insurance... It was some soccermom, and she even had parking sensors. And a towhook which went right in.
Towhooks should be illegal to have on the hitch of a vehicle if it's not actively pulling a trailer. So many busted shins and bunged up bumpers could be saved by this simple act of non-dumbassery. Plus, it keeps them free of rust! Even gooder!
Craftsman quality has dropped a lot since they have shipped overseas to China. I used to have a ton of Craftsman, but the new just isn't too good. HFT's pro series and Taiwan made tools are much higher quality. Personally, I have the 64 socket set, 1/2" extending ratchet, 1/4-3/8" extending ratchet, 25" breaker bar, and much more. I keep them in my vehicles for roadside repairs. All of them are lifetime warrentied, and there are many HFT stores in my area. Between the price, quality, locations, warrenty , it was an easy choice for me. There are other options, Homedepot and Lowes offer similar brands, shop and see what is in your area.

Should I go there before Home Depot/Lowes, like is their tool quality noticeably better?
WELL! I have almost everything to build this dang engine. I raced home from work to my buddy's shop to press in new bushings into the connecting rods, and made it just in time, then it was time to start work. Dropped the crank in, everything's reallll smooth. Then I go to the pistons. I found out something very exciting. New wrist pin bushings on this engine need to be honed at a machine shop to make a tight-slip tolerance fit between the pin and bushing that just baaaarely slips in. Some idiot (me) tapped the wrist pin through the bushing on one of them, and then I thought "this doesn't seem right.. I think this needs to be free floating". Sure enough. It does. I hope my machine shop can get me hooked up quick.. otherwise it's more hurry up and wait, lol. The "it begins" picture.
Is working on cars something y'all do for a living or is it just a hobby for some of you?
It makes me forget about the other aspects of life. For me, racing is the purest thing I could ever do. When I'm in that car, I'm not thinking about anything. I'm just one with the car, and I go as fast as humanly possible. I'm not good with words, and I sure as hell am making this sound less then it really is. But it just makes me feel as alive as I've ever felt. Working on them, that's just part of it. Everything I do, I do for racing. I don't really "enjoy" working on my car like I enjoy a good steak for example. But I don't dislike it either.
Is working on cars something y'all do for a living or is it just a hobby for some of you?
I work on computers for a living and sometimes the most relaxing thing i can do is to crank up some music, put on my shitty torn up t shirt and jeans, and crawl under one of my vehicles to emerge covered in oil, axle grease, rust, fuel, and dirt with knukles busted, metal flakes in my eye, and my vehicle in better shape than before. Oh well.
There's actually an HFT a couple miles from me. Should I go there before Home Depot/Lowes, like is their tool quality noticeably better?
If HFT is Harbor Freight Tools then as far as I am concerned, yes to a point. Pittsburgh Tools come in a ton of varieties and their black handle ratchets, which I think are like 60 - 70~ tooth are nigh unbreakable. I have 2 and I abuse the shit out of them, not gratuitously but when needed. Still no problems with the ratcheting mechanism. Their ratcheting wrenches are pretty damn decent, they cant handle alot of moisture or sand grit in the ratcheting end and really are not good to use to much with "extenders" (fitting a normal wrench closed end in the RW open end) too much torque will ruin the ratchet part. So far I haven't broken any of my Pittsburgh tools nor have I had any issues with my Chicago electric tools either. But I'm not hard on those, only thing to say for CE tools is the battery drills batterys have poor charge cycles, don't leave them on the charger and DON'T let them get hot. Just my 2 cents from my experience.

Computers used to be my hobby but once I started to work in the IT field I got burned out really fast. So I bought a couple cars and work on them. You feel a lot more accomplished when building a car than a computer. It seems that everyday people could give two shits about computers "lol so you can do your taxes faster?" Yeah, sure, that's why I dropped $1300 on a computer. But a car, almost everyone can relate to that since here in the U.S. you almost can't live without one. It's something that everyone has in common. [editline]4th January 2017[/editline]
If HFT is Harbor Freight Tools then as far as I am concerned, yes to a point.
I usually buy the Harbor Freight stuff and then once that tool breaks, I go buy a name brand one. It's like Darwinism of tools.
I find that harbor freight hand tools are pretty good but the sockets, wrenches, and power tools aren't very good. [editline]4th January 2017[/editline] the air tools are pretty good though, but a lot of spinny ones have some nasty speed wobbles because they don't bother to grind the collets, just machine them. not a problem with an impact gun but an air grinder with a death wheel with 10 or 12 thou of runoff can be pretty dangerous.
All my HF air tools (even moderately expensive ones) have rusted like crazy for some reason despite being coated in CRC corrosion preventative and air tool oil though None of the hand or electric tools / sockets, just the air tools that seem to crumble into rust if left for a week in a cold garage No problem with the sockets either aside from being a little looser on the tolerances than the equivalent (not enough to hamper anything)
Speaking of rust and corrosion [t]http://i.imgur.com/pyYbxEh.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/o8rDcTW.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/GMfDrh5.png[/t] please help
Looks like it's just been sitting? Grease the chain real well and run it I would say
What kind of grease would work best in this scenario? I'm sorry if I sound a bit blunt, mechanics were never my strong suit
What kind of grease would work best in this scenario? I'm sorry if I sound a bit blunt, mechanics were never my strong suit
There is specific chain lube that I think is just goopier and stick in the little nooks better. I'd probably just have used jb80 or whatever I have laying around.
Aresol can chain lube is wonderful. The convenience of wd40, but thick and sticky like real lubricants should be. I use it to unbind throttle cables.
Thanks guys, I'll clean the chain and make sure to lube it well then ride the bike for a few days and see how the rust situation is like afterwards.
somebody stop me right now http://www.bilgalleri.dk/bmw-320-2_5-m50-24v-4doers-e30_/id-2161361
