I've never done it, but my scissor jack would definitely work on a trailer. Especially one of those low ones that you have over there.
Ive got a scissor jack in the vic and it works alright. I keep a little 4 ton bottle jack in the truck. Ive never used it, but i might have to stick my parking brake wooden block under it for it to get high enough.
I've never done it, but my scissor jack would definitely work on a trailer. Especially one of those low ones that you have over there.
It's still a lot of weight if you're using it on the vehicle and the trailer, especially if it's a pickup with a load in the bed and a decent load on the trailer. I definitely agree with the recommendation to carry an actual jack. Also, good guy aerolope for helping someone in this awful cold. -10° windchill here. I never even bothered going out yesterday in the snow, despite how much I love driving in the snow.
Spoiler alert he gets paid to do it wile carrying a gun. [editline]8th January 2017[/editline]
I've never done it, but my scissor jack would definitely work on a trailer. PLUS our trailers here have rounded axles and no good place to stick somthing other than the frame then you gotta deal with leaf droop.
Oh please, that doesn't mean a thing in Virginia. Cops will ignore broken down cars here all the time just because they don't want to get out in the rain.
Did somebody say suicide jack? [t]http://slautoparts.net/wp-content/uploads/imported/1971-1985-Mercedes-Benz-380SL-450SL-R107-Tire-Jack-A1075830015-231637833676.jpg[/t]
I'm working on getting my drivers license, and in the meanwhile I'm considering getting my own car once I got my license, to motivate myself a bit more. The only car that I really like at the moment is a Volkswagen Golf Mk2, because I really love the looks of this model and it's affordable in the Netherlands. What are the things I really should look out when finding a used one online? I get matches which have between 200.000-300.000 on the total mileage counter, with a few being even less. One car which I found and really liked was kinda fishy because the stock ignition switch was bypassed and replaced with a custom one underneath the steering column because the original was apparently broken. My dad told me to be on the lookout for that since this model isn't hard to break in to apparently.
Golf2's are just as simple to fix as they are to steal.
What floormats are the best kind (for a Honda Fit), 3D MAXpider, Husky Liner or WeatherTech? I'm sick of my gas pedal getting stuck behind my generic floormat because it slides forward

I've also used the inferior VW jack on my mom's 1900kg van. Still, you're not very likely to come across a trailer with a max weight of more than 1200kg, actual weight is probably more around 1000kg. I've never seen a square axle, we just jack by the frame and unless leaf droop is something other than the wheel staying down while jacking the frame up, I also have to deal with that on my trailers and my car. It's also the reason why I keep using my scissor, because I can't find a floor jack that'll lift high enough.
Day 2 in HELL This is the result of another 10 hours with an angle grinder in my hands. :suicide:
I alwase carry mine and stop at ANYONE on the side of the road, the main reason is for people with trailers and thoes suicide jacks will hardly work on trailers.
I'm putting my 2t jack in the trunk now. I will not screw around with scissor jacks that have a weight limit of 950 pounds

I don't care why. Just buy them and hand them out as wedding gifts.
Buy either the shittiest one or the nicest one and SRT4 swap it
Haha. Thats an hour away from where I live. I showed it to my dad and he thinks he knows the guy. Bought some stuff for his Cordoba from him, he thinks, at least. :v:

Never again. Not even the beefy ones that ship with CVPIs, I have a 2 ton floor jack in the car, right behind the spare and tire iron. Wheel chocks, too.
I keep a floor jack under my back seat. trying to use a scissor jack on a big truck is asking for problems

[editline]8th January 2017[/editline] I got my oil changed and tires rotated last weekend (free from the dealer, 10,000mi) and my tires are nearly toast. Front tires 7/32nds Rear tires 4/32nds As such, I just bought a set of Continental ExtremeContact DWs from TireRack on clearance for $87/ea I'll hold off on installing them as long as I can, so they have maximum tread when I go to Monterey in June. Might even buy some used tires in the next few weeks so I can hold off on installing them to just before the trip (1300 miles).
neat, almost there. Also, really missing my motorcycle right now. My dream bike is for sale at a local store, it's a bit too much for me though. Follow that with steel wool and lacquer thinner. Use that on the heavy stuff then get your disk for the thinner rock guard like stuff [editline]9th January 2017[/editline] Careful not to use them too close together tho and don't light the undercoat on fire

Here is about 1pm-8:30 today, numerous revisions trying to come up with something thats original yet appealing and strong. [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/E1A2A47C-8CEB-4F99-9EA5-4902F9A975CD_zpscmndgndb.jpg[/thumb] This is still a rough of the final product, tying in the peak was really tough, as was the whole right side. Good thing is the diff is largely symetrical so to build the lower i just have to mirror it, although I may slim it down more for clearance. We'll see. I put my logo at that blank spot at the peak and it seems fitting so it may stay there, although I'll have to see if I can cut it if its that small.
spider webs aren't my style, but speed holes sure are. I think doing a classier style like speed holes will net you more customers than the same old spider webs and skulls everyone does
I'm a sucker for 30's style aircraft lightening cutouts There's just something so elegant about it. Then again i have a huge 30's-60's modernism and art deco fetish so take that for what it's worth
