I'm tempted to just get rid of it a buy a shitty EV if it's going to start costing me a bunch of money but I was hoping this car would last me until I can get my Tesla Model 3 without having to sink a bunch of money into it. The dealer told me not to put any oil in it since apparently the first set of oil is some special stuff to collect debris from the engine manufacturing process and the car would just give me a ~months notice when it needed changing, so I haven't really done any maintenance to it. I kept my eye on the oil levels and there's a bit under half left on the dipstick but it's starting to look a bit old. I was looking for something more specific than "a defect".
The manufacturer doesn't put special break-in oil in their cheap base model car. Chevy Cruises and Aveos which share that platform/engine are horribly awful and commonly blow up in the warranty. GM couldn't make a FWD 4 cylinder platform to save their own life despite in the past making amazing engines like the Quad4. I've been hearing about the new turbo Malibus blowing up as common as weekly in rental fleets. I wouldn't change the oil in it if the dealer doesn't want you to, I'd drive it as hard as possible when cold and try to blow it up if you think it's a internal, mechanical noise and not like a vacuum leak, injector, direct injection pump or something. After they put an engine in it, flip it for something a little less crap. You're gonna have a hell of a time trying to convince them it's broken before it lets the rods out. If it's burning half a quart of oil between OCI's in the first 15k miles and isn't a loose tolerance turbo/high performance engine, it's shit.
So, i need some suggestions/advice on wiring. For a long time, I have wanted to convert away from standard 12v outlets on my equipment. I constantly have issues of plugs working loose, wiggling out, etc. An alternative that keeps popping up is RCA wiring. Supposedly it can handle the <3A loads of dash cams, cell chargers, etc. It's small, easy to work with. Thoughts? I would be able to run a 12v-5v converter and have the RCA bank would be 5V as is, the cords would have no converters.
If you're talking RCA as in phono plugs, always check the quality of what you work with. I worked for Radioshack for two years and almost all of our RCA cables came back for short/fraying/loose connector issues.

I know the Traxx is at least. Chevy cant make a small car regardless, theyre just importing them and putting other badges on.
Chevy is the worst of the big 3.
I honestly dont know what they were thinking, but I like the ambition.
How else are we supposed to identify the type of car it is easily? You've got your standard ICE car, HEV (hybird), PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle), FCEV (fuel-cell electric vehicle), and BEV (battery electric vehicle). Not sure the acronym for natural gas engines are? NGV? There's millions of non-standard ICE cars on the road.
Call it a diesel or petrol engine, it even makes it easier to help you as diesel and petrol engines can be substantially different.
So I narrowed the leak down to my oil pressure switch. That's a pretty easy fix in my car. Just gotta figure out how to get to it.

honestly anyone with an ice car should think about upgrading to another power source reeal soon, how are you gonna drive around when it gets warmer and your ice melts?
Yes, i plan to use phono plugs. The regulators and such would go in place of my ash tray, as i never use it. Now, from what i understand from reading up on this; I basically only need to have an inline fuse, 12v-5v regulator, and my RCA/USB cable to make this work? I would likely mount it on a breadbox in the ash tray area, have 3 RCA outputs. 4 if i have enough room. So technically, it would be 5V/1-1.5A over RCA.

I kid, but the laws here for emissions seem to be somewhat stricter than the US for emissions, tax and whatnot, and with the added cost of fuel on top of that, econoboxes are the only real way to go here. I'm glad a lot of manufacturers are taking to the small engine with turbo though, Ford seem to have more of a range of turbo petrol engines in their range compared to all the other companies. for example, my 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta started off getting about 40MPG at 123 horsepower, I had it remapped to 158 and now as long as I drive sensibly I can get 50MPG out of it, but I've still got some poke if I put my foot down. I'm not keeping the car though, and I want to look at getting a Focus with the 1.5 ecoboost engine in it for my next vehicle.

The clutch pedal is extremely squeaky (the clutch itself is fine, just the pedal), and the engine noise is extremely loud when going 70... way louder than my old Corsa D diesel engine, and a lot louder than the road noise. Now this weird clicking noise from the engine. Maybe I wouldn't mind it if this car was 10 years old but it's not even 1 year old. This car increases my dislike for ICEs everytime I drive it.

There are people here with 20+ year old Hondas with practically no issues whatsoever. I myself have 2 old Mercedes-Benzes that both have 200k miles (~320k kilometers) with no driveline issues (they do have other issues but I just turn a blind eye to those) except the fact that one burns oil (1 quart ever 1000 miles) and is loud. Some cheaper cars (GMs) are cheap because they're meant to be like iPhones, you get a new one every 2 years. :v:

GM is the company that has in recent years decided to abuse the "Planed Obsolescence" Law/Idea and go a bit overboard with it. Guess they figured no one would notice their cars falling apart (Exploding in some cases) after a few years. Oh, we fucking noticed you slimy fucks.

The cables wiggle loose and I was constantly having to bend them, modify them, etc. Eventually, the cable was basically useless from bending the connector so much to stop losing connection. USB would be easy to implement, if the connections were snugger.

It was a great little car that seemed to not really have any issues besides being a diesel. I figured the new Corsa E would be a decent car, and the interior is pretty good with heated seats, Android Auto support, auto headlights, parking sensors, and all that kinda stuff on a pretty cheap car. My dad has a Vectra that's 13 years old that hasn't really had any issues either. The engine on my old D though was some Fiat engine iirc though, so maybe GM just suck at making engines.
