Oh hey, this reminds me. I've been meaning to ask youse guys. There's a place around here that sells E85 for $1.99/gal, while gasoline is $2.99/gal and up. What do I need to know about running E85 in my car? The owner's manual is vague. Do I need to drive enough to completely drain the regular gas in the tank, or can I just fill it up when I normally would. Should I expect any major performance differences?

I'm assuming it's flex fuel in that case the ECU will compensate for a gas/E85 blend MPG and acceleration may drop a little as E85 has roughly 70% of the energy regular unleaded has

Yeah, it's a flex fuel 4.6L modular 2v. Yellow gas cap and badge and everything.

All cars newer than 1993 [I]can[/I] run E85, but if they have the tune and injectors in them is a different story. I bet with an injector swap, flex fuel sensor, and a tune, your EcoBoost should do just fine and get way more power.

Also e85 conversion kits for Miatas are like $900. I'm guessing it's not aimed for people looking to make their Miata more environmentally friendly. Haven't actually read about a single Miata conversion yet though, just saw the parts on Flyin' Miata.

Its pretty much idiot proof on flexfuel crown vics. put E85 in halfway through a tank, empty, whatever. the car does the rest. I did the math once, and while E85 is a bit cheaper, the mpg you lose in a vic completely negates any cost savings, and then some. Whats the point? Well I guess aside from using it as a ghetto compression dropper to slap a blower on something.

Honestly Id rather every vehicle I had run on diesel. That would be so convenient. Yes, even in the winter.

Don't need injector swap. Don't need anything really. The EcoBoosts (the newer ones at least) are all direct injection with strong injectors and fuel systems. All that's needed is a new tune, but I don't have a tuner and need to get fuel tomorrow to be able to go to work friday.

Gas is weird here. Some stores are freaking the fuck out and going to $2.50/gal, while Kroger here is still $1.89 a gal in SW VA. It's kinda redonkulous.

Lucky for me I live in New England, so no gas shortage here. At least that I know of. Mainly a South issue from what I read.

Tends to happen during the winter though. I've seen it multiple times where stations run out because of storms delaying things to all hell.

Also 100LL will probably fuck up any car it goes in to.

Hey, you gotta try all options, sometimes people are willing to part it out for the right offer and sending one email isn't being "that guy".

I'm going to pick one up in Miami on Friday for 800. It's black and in good condition. Though, it is one of the early models with no defroster or headliner but it does have garage star latches to bolt it onto my car, and hopefully stiffen it out a little. I am very excited to have a coupe.

Well, it sucks using midgrade because my car detests regular, so that's an extra 30 cents, and some random stores now are like a good 60 to 70 cent increase because of 'muh ööööil!' but beyond that, yeah. It was about $1.70 about three weeks to a month ago, and now it jumped up to $2.50 in about a week.

Also, that $2.50 is an average. I've seen it all over the place from $1.89 at Kroger to $2.09 next door at BP to $2.99 down the road two blocks. It's nutty.

Well second time's the charm. I now have about 6 coats of viper blue pearl on here, and 2 coats of clear, with the 6th being a mix of both, before the final 2. The good news is it's virtually run free, save for one spot, which is more like a gob of paint and I have no idea how tf that happened. But I'll sand it down and maybe be able to polish that spot, the rest I can polish no problem. It got kinda bumpy at the end, but whatever, that'll all cut and polish. I'm sick of painting.

Today's work consisted of going to pick up the NSX and bring it home, but first a little cruising to run some errands! That means now that the Celica gets booted from the garage, but I have my 10'x20' tent set up in the driveway ready to work in the rain until the NSX goes away for the year... or until the city yells at me for having a big tent in the driveway? I hope not, lol.
The bodyshop has some neat little metal things out in the front, and Kermit's ruffian brother was pretty funny. This angle makes him look like an exhibitionist.

Before I put the NSX in the garage, though, I got more work done. Starting with plating the frame back up. I'm not going to mount the tow hook back up here, seems like they're just good for getting smashed if the front end bottoms out, and if it's lowered that's not a good thing

And now that I finally have the bolts I ordered I could mount the 22R up on the stand for when I decide to start the engine work and refresh.

And at that point I decided to retire inside and play with the HVAC a little.
The vent selector cable was broken, and as it happened I had the blue cable extra since I got rid of the heater core blockoff valve.. so I stuck that in there. I can see how the old one broke, though, the way they have the cable attached puts a ton of force on it.. poor leverage design. We'll see how long it lasts.
