Since the euro sank I envy your wages. I earn 5 euro's an hour :v:
Thank you for the input. I will try one last time to talk to him tonight about it but after this I guess he has to learn the hard way. And yes, he's terrible at making decisions and always seems to impulse buy things.

The best thing you could do for your roommate would be to physically restrain him from going to a dealership by any means necessary.
they were in bed with the oil companies
Any proof? A lot of oils then, even today, barely handle 3k miles before sheering and burning. Subaru's specifically; Mobil 1, Supertech, any lower end oil sheers by 3k mile and starts burning off.
I mean if he wants something nice and with a warranty, he could get a nice used chebby cruze, an '09 or so, from the same dealer, with some luck. Going for a 2017 vehicle as your first on a 12/hr job is retarded.

$12 dollars an hour is like a dollar of minimum wage over here, he needs a dodge neon not a chevy cruze :v:
got my "new" shoes today. Shoes touch the ground, and the bottom is often rubber!
Driving home when CHECK ENGINE comes on. Lovely. Install the test plug and the lamp reads out the O2 sensor is open circuit. I should of never used the splice kit included with the new sensor. Some fucked knuckles and an ECU reset later and the lamp was out.
Yo, so what's up guys. I need your guy's help to prevent my roommate from doing a stupid fucking mistake. He's 23 with no Driver's license, yet he's getting it Friday hopefully. He's never owned a car and drives on his permit with his GF. So since he's taking his test Friday, he want's to buy a car. I have (Myself included) Have multiple friends with more than 2 cars they would be willing to part with for under 1,000 to help him out. Yet he is apparently meeting with a car dealer to buy a brand new 2017 Chevy Cruz or some shit. I argued that he needs a down payment first and he just keeps telling me it's 0 down. Now I don't know shit about buying car's from dealers really as I do all my car shopping on CL/Facebook but I'm pretty sure that even though it's Zero down, don't you pay car tax's first? And not only that but I tell him he should at least save up money to put somewhat of a down payment AND he's going to need at least a grand for Licensing it. And he also said that for his car payment and insurance is 513 a month. Now I'm not sure if he's just telling me that. But that seems rather cheap for a First time buyer, with hardly any credit history, and no driver license expierance with no down payment. Now I like my roommate, but I keep telling him it's going to probably be a lot more money then he thinks and should just end up buying a cheap car first. Yet he doesn't want to buy a car that he doesn't want. Now I am waiting for him to get off work so I can try and talk some more sense into him, He makes decent money and his rent his cheap, I think he makes 12$ an hour or so. But I just don't want him (Even if he get's approved) make a massive financial mistake and end up tanking. So what is some advice I could give him?
Your roommate has no assets to leverage or borrow against, probably no money in the bank, and no credit. I'm not a lender, but no one is going to finance him, Capital One won't even touch him. Hell, Capital One won't even pre-qualify me and I make anywhere from $12-$15 an hour, a 730 credit score, and a structured settlement. He won't be getting that 2017 Cruz so don't even worry about trying to save him, the bank will do it for you.
Can he afford the yearly registration tax + inspection + full coverage insurance + 3 claims on his insurance that hes going to have in the first year + the $400 monthly payment for the next 5 years.
What are you on about with this 3 claims on insurance nonsense.
Any proof? A lot of oils then, even today, barely handle 3k miles before sheering and burning. Subaru's specifically; Mobil 1, Supertech, any lower end oil sheers by 3k mile and starts burning off.
Shear A force or stress that acts in the tangential direction to a fluid flow or streamline. Defined as the velocity gradient times the fluid's viscosity at a given temperature. To expand on what you said, as oil ages, it's resistance to shear (viscosity) reduces due to burning and degradation from unburnt gasoline as gasoline engines do not burn all of the fuel sent into the cylinders as the spark does not fully propagate (this is 1 of several reasons diesels are more efficient). This causes the oil to not coat critical engine parts as well as new oil (thinner film, lower pressure flow). TL:DR; I saw how you spelt shear, it bothered me, I went on a rant about science :eng101:
What are you on about with this 3 claims on insurance nonsense.
New driver in a new vehicle. Primed for accidents.
New driver in a new vehicle. Primed for accidents.
3 claims seems excessive though. I didn't crash a car until 2.5 years after getting my license, and I drove it home afterwards and no claims were filed. Now I do understand that there are people who are just appalling drivers like my dad's wife's daughter who backed into my black Benz and then said she didn't see it (bitch how did you not see something the size of a bus), but as I understand those are an extreme minority who crash cars while on their permits.
I've been driving for over six years and have driven some 15 different cars, owned 5, and have never crashed somehow I should update that the Camry is looking expectedly miserable as always and the replacement hood sits flush, despite it had to be bent on both sides to do so [t]http://i.imgur.com/x5FWe7v.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/86ECXa4.jpg[/t] It also has a leaky fuel filler neck, severe oil leak, bad flex pipe, newly smashed turn signal out of nowhere, bent fuel door, exhaust rattle and leak, a taillight out, rear outer tie rods need replacing, permanent frame damage, a heavily rotted subframe, needs a new battery, has a leaky valve cover and misaligned headlights amongst other things. The subaru is pretty much perfect at this point.

My mother has been through three 300c's so far. All of them except for their most recent one had been backed into a stupid amount of times. My aunt actually managed to back in to both of them, two years apart, but in the same spot. We don't park in that spot at her house anymore.

Which is the weirdest thing to disable it over since it's easy to access once you move the boost pipe (3 bolts and 2 hose clamps) and a OEM quality sensor is like 20$ at most. But previous owner was a very weird doctor, so I'm only a little bit surprised.
or you read the codes and then weigh the cost to repair with your life/safety. The car itself was completely totaled and the driver instructor was extremely shocked because of it happening. Speaking of taking driver's lessons, brakes on modern vehicles pack a huge damn punch these days. I had to stop at a T intersection near my home because of passing traffic, and you can already get the car to stop instantly when you barely press down the pedal to my idea. Also made the engine stall by accident as I forgot to hit the clutch.

It wasn't my fault (t-boned a newspaper truck that ran the red) but if I were the driver I am today I would have been able to tell at the speed he was approaching the light I should have been prepared to stop. Was also rear ended twice within a year of getting my license. I was a nervous nelly drive-exactly-the-limit driver right out the gate, too, so he's probably about right. It probably also has to do with how many state collision reports he's had to file.
Of the kids I've gone to school with, four I know have gotten into accidents, one was just minor no big deal, two had totaled their cars (one kid has totaled three fuckin cars) and the other died because she was texting, every single one of them sat through six months of drivers education, I had my permit a month before getting my license when I turned 18 and I got it on my first try by winging it, and I've had absolutely no accidents or close calls, some people are just better drivers than others

What would happen to me mainly was I would get nervous and my foot would violently twitch but mentally I was not.... nervous. That took about 3months to get over weirdly enough. I was in only 1 accident, woman pulled out infront of me wile I was towing a enclosed trailer behind my audi. Audi's arn't towrigs no stoping power for trailer. I slit the diffrence between the 18-wheeler that was parked in the emergency lane and her. The audi sqeeeeezed but the trailer fenders did not. Her bumper came off and flew into oncoming traffic. No damage to my trailer. It was my birthday I think.

Is it weird that I want to roll back the odometer since the racecar is "newly" build :v:
