Louisiana? there must be some correlation between the french and shit roads [editline]9:02[/editline] imagine what the roads must be like in france
Probably why they're trying to ban cars
Fucking glad I live in Florida, worst place for sink holes I know of 'round here is Springhill.
Broke some expensive stuff at work because someone didn't do their job right. Snowmobiles are some tricky machines
Louisiana? there must be some correlation between the french and shit roads [editline]9:02[/editline] imagine what the roads must be like in france
well in france its immigrants burning cars rather than potholes the issue in louisiana is that they never got federal funding for road maintenance because they refused to raise their drinking age to 21 for over a decade after everyone else had done so
So for the past week I've been nursing the Caddy with minor repairs (dealing with work and a mystery illness kinda kills my urge to actually work on something) and yesterday I tried to replace the thermostat (finally). Well, being cold I fumbled a bolt and it vanished somewhere into the hood never to be seen again. I checked every cranny with a magnet and found no trace, nor was it underneath. This pissed me off, but oh well, I'll buy a new bolt. Today I bought a new bolt which was matched (by one of the people working at Autozone) to the other one that I had. I head home, start putting it back in when SNAP goes that little bastard. No excess torque. No weird angle. It just fucking BROKE. Not only did it break, but it broke in a way that it's totally flush in a spot where there's no way I can fit any of my drills in there. I headed back to Autozone and went "what the fuck, this thing broke." To which another person working there took the bolt and said something along the lines of "Well, this is the wrong bolt" and proceeded to ask who helped me match it. Suffice to say, that guy doesn't work there anymore, and they gave me a refund (and the new bolts) for free. I still have no idea how the fuck I'm gonna finish those repairs, though. They literally had one job, and that was GET ME THE RIGHT FUCKING BOLT.
You got a guy fired over a bolt?
I highly doubt they fired the guy over a bolt
I highly doubt they fired the guy over a bolt
I used to manage about 100 employees (most i didnt know i was managing till i met them at different stores). Whenever the stores complained about the janitors, if it was something silly, id tell the store they were fired and i reassigned them to another store. Then moved someone else in their place. I got my starter. The gear fits perfectly, as i wanted, but its completely f'd and needs rebuilt. It wont turn the engine. Wont turn at all. Price is right and it was stated it may need rebuilt. I was just hoping it would at least spin enough to turn the car over... always something. It has an externally mounted replacable solenoid. Ancient tech. All my wiring is officially done as well. The only hangup is this starter.
So what's everyone's workplace look like? [sp]only posting this because I spent 2 hours cleaning[/sp] :v:
I was going to say thats suspiciously clean
Here's mine: [t]http://i.imgur.com/4PwWaVo.jpg[/t] This is the dining table in my flat, I've also used my mate's barn to work on the Saab, and the KTM is stored in a barn at another mate's dad's place. Speaking of which, I've now basically ordered a new handlebar (the old one was bent af) and have ordered a new clutch master cylinder/mirror mount. Was gonna order both from the handlebar guy along with the buttons on the bar, but got a mail yesterday that he didn't have the clutch afterall so had to go on Ebay to find a unit from the UK. Gonna order oil & filters, coolant and clutch fluid tomorrow, as well as check up on the Akrapovic slip-on I'm buying.
I don't even have a work space :( As of now, I have to do all car related things outside, so there won't be much done on rainy days...
I kinda just keep mine "clean" passively [t]https://imgkk.com/i/1hom.jpg[/t] [t]https://imgkk.com/i/nwk3.jpg[/t] [t]https://imgkk.com/i/px3v.jpg[/t] [editline]5th February 2017[/editline] and yes that mdf is very much in the fucking way [editline]5th February 2017[/editline] also yes I need to get those cylinders refilled
Can I call it mine if I have a key to it and am allowed to do anything in there? [t]http://i.imgur.com/3tit2Kk.jpg[/t] I also have a key to my old boss's 80x200... But Im afraid that entire building is going to be a parking garage for my boss's fleet here soon.

u ever hit a pothole so hard your engine mount breaks the oil leak was coming from the oil filter which was being crushed by the now broken mount
My work space is the driveway, and on the kitchen table when needed.
u ever hit a pothole so hard your engine mount breaks the oil leak was coming from the oil filter which was being crushed by the now broken mount
I'm not sure about how you people in the States handle that but in Denmark, if you can prove that a pothole damaged your car, then insurance will normally pay for it.
I'm not sure about how you people in the States handle that but in Denmark, if you can prove that a pothole damaged your car, then insurance will normally pay for it.
And if the pothole is big enough, your insurance can fleece the local municipality responsible for the roads. The rules are lax enough so they don't cover damages to stupidly slammed cars or wheels with condom tyres, but any pothole damage to a ordinary car is 99% cause by a hole big enough.
My gf once had an accident with her scooter when she rode over a pothole at night (Light above it was broken) The inscurance didn't pay anything, but when we went to the local municipality they covered everything. Scooter, clothes, phone everything.
in my state at least the state will pay for any damage to the wheel itself, but not tires, suspension, or any other damage caused by potholes fucking stupid
Ha, if you triend to get CalTrans to pay for any damage caused by their roads they'd laugh and tell you to get fucked. For the past three years now CalTrans construction has routinely caused my dad's building to flood every time it rains. We've been trying to get through to them all this time to just change their construction or anything, but we've finally lawyers up.
Here is my, as serj likes to call it, "aircraft hanger" [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/CE497210-C882-4856-A9ED-26789D0005E6_zpsyz3j28pr.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/AF48B529-ACD4-470E-8DA1-3AE9C3DC65F3_zpsy2iixw9x.jpg[/thumb] Its a bombsite. Its 40x60 with a heated floor, shitter, TV, computer, CNC burntable, shear, bender, press, drill press, lathe, mille, tig and mig welders, and probably more that I cant think of. I try to use the most of it as best I can. Getting torn down to turn into a 40x120 with a house attachment this year maybe.

One of my buddies is going through a real rough patch right now, so I convinced him to begin motorcycling. He inherited my XV750, and after only 30 minutes of practice we went on a 40 mile ride; he's a natural. Afterward we had a beer and he said he hadn't felt this good in months. Made me real happy to introduce a friend who was in a bad way to the world of two wheels, and an outlet for what he's been feeling. [t]http://i.imgur.com/GMRb7py.jpg[/t]

Alright guys I've been contemplating this for the past decade and I've come up with my theory, so in Jurassic Park 2 they try to use an M class to pull a huge double trailer Rv up and over a cliff side. Now we all know the regular M class could not achieve such a feat but what if it was the Brabus Ml 7.3 with the V12, would the scene hold any more believeability? The only hole is that Brabus didn't make the 7.3 until 2001ish. I need to know guys this is my biggest question in life and I can't rest until I have an answer. :v:
