Sadly, it's way past time to return it. I was thinking about buying a new set, but I don't want to end up with the same set again. Plus, I'm not sure if the newer year will work. Just odd. The gaskets you have are fine and everything lines up into the head. You'd probably have more sealing issues with the other gaskets since the head surface would be sealing the passages instead of the gasket.
Took off the headers from my broken M3 engine, found this little guy. Gonna keep it as..reminder or something. :v: It's one of the valves
how did you manage to melt the stem?
probably couldn't keep up. Either a rod broke and while it was opened the piston hit it. Or the pistons were moving too fast and the valves couldn't keep up, resulting in a piston hitting the valve. [editline]20th February 2017[/editline] It didn't melt, it just snapped. Must have been quite ugly inside
I am meeting up with Mr. Regular tomorrow.
:buddy:
heheheheehehehehehe. Yes that happened. I even clear coated it so it would stay[T]http://i.imgur.com/xxBI9LT.jpg[/T] Mr. Regular is a really cool guy, mostly because he is just a regular guy that likes to talk about cars. We met up at Valley Forge and just say there people and car watching and his commentary was hilarious. He really liked my friends bike. [T]http://i.imgur.com/a7VWShv.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/DivZR80.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/uOJes1h.jpg[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/HLE9bbE.jpg[/T] ...and then this happened getting on the highway to get lunch with him He felt really bad and offered buy me lunch. I refused of course because it wasn't his fault (although his car probably did kick up the rock but tbh I don't care at all because 1. I'm fully covered and 2. VW glass is garbage, bugs will crack it, and 3. It's Mr Regular, shits a memory.) Overall, I think I am lucky to say that I got to hang out with Mr. Regular. No filming or anything like that, just me, my friend and him talking about cars and bikes for a few hours.

The 2.3T turned into a donor to replace the broken crank on the AERO. Learnt a lot when disassembling both engines and putting them together. My list is microscopic but it will most likely grow in the future.

Except from the old suspension being crap, the only issue I've really had is some oil leak, had a cooling hose blow on me last year and the DIC is starting to go. The coolant hose was the only thing that really stopped me, but on these engines it's important to use proper oil, and change it at the set intervals (10k km) as they're prone to sludging and blocking the pickup. Fuel pumps are also a common item on these, mine was replaced maybe 5-6 years back after it left the owner stranded.
What are these worth? Its a GT with near no rust [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/D04FA1D0-C8FD-42AC-8514-AD41824882C6_zps56dsckry.jpg[/thumb]

I was aware of the sludging, which is kind of concerning but a lot of newer engines seem to do that. I usually do oil changes every 3000 miles (~5000 km) and follow the severe service schedules on my cars. I'm mostly interested in the 2007 and newer 9-3 Sportkombis with the 2.0t engine, but things like springs that break, coolant leeching into the trans cooler (auto trans cars), engines aborting themselves, and electrical issues that limit the use of or make the car's interior a shitty place to be have me concerned. I've also heard that they squeak and rattle, but my 86 MB has the famous door card rattle issue, so I can deal with rattles, except when caused by chassis flex. Ultimately I'm looking for something unique to replace my S-Class (trans is going, needs timing chain) since I want to make the 190E (no aircon) a track day and fun summer car, and am not interested in a project.

changed out the engine mount a few days ago, heres the old one [t]http://i.imgur.com/z85rKush.jpg[/t] the metal is supposed to be attached to the rubber, it sheared clean off... not sure why tho, the rubber seemed pretty good, and they're only meant to do this under extreme stress like a head on collision. :S also my list: 1991 Volvo 240 wagon 1998 Pontiac Bonneville SE 1979 Volvo 242 1989 Volvo 740 1999 Volvo S70 AWD hopefully soon: 2006 Volvo S60R
so I bought the turbo e30, pushes about 12-14 psi at max boost, and shoots a huge cloud of fuel out the exhaust, there's a boost leak and a murdered turbo so it shoots oil out the boost leak. I have another turbo lying around though. lots of little things, also my first turbo car, should be fun.

The NG9-3 (02 and up) isn't known for sludging afaik, it also doesn't have any Saab engines, all GM there. I don't have much experience with the NG9-3, except that my dad's wagon was super comfortable and awesome to drive. Earlier models has an optical headunit that also controls stuff like your blinkers so I'd personally stay away from those, the facelifted ones also look much better and have a regular 2DIN unit. [editline]20th February 2017[/editline] The 9-5s also got a facelift around the same times as the 9-3, and got most of the 9-3's interior, the rest of the chassis is the same as the earlier ones so most of the kinks were worked out at that point.
