You can get as crazy as you want with theft-proof switches, honestly. A starter kill after the ignition harness (so it's not easy to find when hotwiring at the switch) that's only triggered by some combo like defrost on, press in cigarette lighter, hold brake, and turning the key or something is pretty solid. It's cheap and effective if you know how to wire it all in to 'look factory' and stuff.

well when fuel is roughly $7.50 a gallon, I appreciate the small engine size and good economy. all I've done to my car to get 160 BHP out of my car is a remap and a K&N air filter (which isn't necessary, but I got it on the cheap through my old work). tiny, boosted engines are the future, and they're great fun. I think you can get around 200 BHP out of the 1.5 ecoboost that Ford produce.

Okay so I ship for basic training on monday, when I finish that and AIT (about 27 weeks total) I get $10k of my bonus up front, I'm going to be state side and I've narrowed down my choices for cars to buy to three, a Miata, a Toyota GT86, Mustang with the ecoboost 4 banger, or an extended cab 4x4 manual tacoma because that's the only fucking 4x4 you can buy with a manual anymore. All are within a hundred bucks of each other the way I have them optioned (base with security package) .

generally most european production cars will be putting out less than 100 BHP, in displacement from 1.0 to 1.8 generally in petrol form, and from 1.6 to 2.0 in diesel form.
get a car with a sorted chassis, and 200 BHP on a good UK B-road (not a main road), and you'd be hard pressed to have more fun on a public road.

The smart car is a bullshit lie and it's not good in any way except parking and turning circle.
in the UK if you go into the dealership and get a Smart car, there is no option for you to own the car. you can't buy it outright and you can't take out hire purchase finance, you have to hand the car back.
car finance is an odd thing. at least with PCP finance (that I have), you have options. you can take the car back and walk away if you're within the agreed terms, you can trade it in against a new car, you can buy the car, or you can sell it and pay off the last payment.

I think you can still get a manual 4x4 nissan frontier.
also smart fourtwos have snap oversteer problems. the four door models and roadsters not so much but good luck finding one
so my sister got in an accident today, she somehow managed to swerve over in the left lane and hit a mercedes SUV of some sort head on each going around 80k/h, she was in a 308.
she walked away, nothing broken or anything.
