With my insurance, I can put cars in storage and it keeps insurance on the car. Its just way fucking cheaper.
my insurance company will only let me suspend coverage for up to 6 months. if I want to keep a vehicle that's not on the road insured I have to pay the full cost of insurance.
ergo, 2 of the 9 cars I own are insured
[editline]25th September 2016[/editline]
and one of them only because when I got arrested a year ago one of the things they nabbed me on was driving without insurance
Oh wow, I was talking with my uncle and his current project is converting a Miata to electric. I'd definitely have to make a trip to see that in action.
I'm pretty sure the guy said that it was purple originally, then he wrapped or painted it. Or vice versa and that grey pic was old. I know it's one or the other tho.
car had overfenders and he didnt paint under them

I've actually seen an electric NA for sale here in Florida. I remember seeing it on Craigslist for like 8 grand, and the entire trunk was full of battery cells. I can only imagine how badly it throws off the balance of the car.
Went on a cruise with a few FB groups today (all together). Mazdaspeeds of Colorado and Colorado Miata Club

Got pulled over in my big derge.
Trailer flaps were covering my plate, honestly didnt know what to do since I needed the flaps for my wheels so the officer was nice enough to try and get a good answer. Best he could come up with was to talk with the bureau of vehicles or something.
I just cooperated and acted friendly the best I could and I'm honestly fine with the ticket, I knew I had it coming. I counted, and if I got the wrong cop I could've had a potential 8 tickets and probably impounding my truck. One's good... ones good.
So after that sticking clutch cable about two months ago I ordered a new cable and fuck if it took forever to show up.
While removing the old cable I found the boot had torn and several of the steel strands had broken. Good thing I did decide to change it after all. Now that the new cable is in engaging the clutch is WAY smoother but something else also happened. I don't pop out of second gear while coasting anymore.
I don't get it. That old fucking cable was adjusted several times while the transmission was constantly going back because neither I or the shop couldn't make it stop popping out and assumed it was still the transmission because, a properly adjusted cable shouldn't do that. Now that it's out of the picture it's stopped popping out.
Someone tried stealing my Firebird today in fucking broad daylight at the mall while I was working there. they surprisingly didn't steal my radio which is good. They slid something into my frameless widows to unlock it then ripped open the dashboard and cut open the steering wheel column. I'm fucking pissed but at least my car wasn't stolen.
man when the fuck did 4th gen monte carlos get so expensive? I was thinking about buying one for a nice cheap drag car but jesus fuck they've quadrupled in price since I last looked at them. the cheapest one that's not a t-top is $8500

Donks, fast food liveries and hydraulics happened.

I don't think I've ever come across a road that goddamn mint and smooth in my own state! Granted, there are still some nice freshly paved roads here, but even then they sometimes fuck it up. And the good roads almost never have the scenery that has Colorado has.

That's fucked man. Sounds like they were dumb though, so you were spared loosing your car entirely.

remember the discussion we had like a month ago about best wheels?
I remembered what the best wheels are

stock wheels on a second gen ford ranger, especially when wrapped in whiteletters
Suicide worthy things;
You finish painting your engine bay, and start cleaning up when all of a sudden some freak cloud comes around, rains for all of about a minute, and all of your clearcoat is ruined with waterspots and needs to get sanded and recleared.
Such is the heartache of working under a fucking tent in your driveway.

I don't know the extent of the damage yet. It started happening, I touched the clear to see if it had hardened up (was about 15 minutes old) , and it was still wet enough to leave finger prints. I wiped the little mist spots away from an inconspicuous area and it left nice little craters where each droplet was. Unbelievable, really. A little drizzle under a tent probably would've been fine, BUT it was fairly windy today, too, so that sucks.
Loving the MX5. I just get nervous downshifting/slowing down though because we crazy NJ drivers and our unpredictable braking and acceleration.
My car lights are being REALLY funky now, start car and turn lights on; all lights work. Start car again and turn lights on; only left lights work. Third time only right works, fourth time none of them work, fifth and last time; they all work again??
I would think I might got some faulty wires but it only started doing this last week out of the blue.

Bulbs are not supposed to look like that, right?
I honestly don't know where else to ask this and this thread seems to have lots of Americans who possibly can help me out.
This is still very much on planning stage, but a huge dream me and a friend have is driving through the US. And I mean properly driving, visiting tiny ass places, crossing the country, staying in motels and having breakfast in shitty diners. We'll probably have around 7 to 11 weeks sometime around April til June.
Now my question is what would be the cheapest way of actually obtaining a car? Can we buy a cheap junker of sorts or would the paperwork/insurance be ridiculous for a young foreigner? Can we rent something relatively long term for less than an arm and a leg? The car itself doesn't matter as much as the trip but if we are doing this only once it would be nice to be able to chose a car rather than having a generic grey 'car'.
Sorry if this is wildly off topic for the thread!

The middle bulb looks like you touched it. Where did you get the bulbs from? I had some Ebay ones that got so warm they melted the plug.

How old are you?
The middle bulb looks like you touched it. Where did you get the bulbs from? I had some Ebay ones that got so warm they melted the plug.
What do you mean by touched it?
I took it out like this.
And I have no idea where they are from; it's from my dad's old car. So from before the internet existed.
I really hope they are just acting up because of their age tough.
Sometime this week I'm going to be buying a 1985 Buick Skylark I saw parked in some guy's driveway with a for sale sign while I was delivering pizzas. I already went over on one of my days off and got to drive it around and other than it taking only ethanol free gas, it's very mechanically good and I'd say it's a buy for me, especially since I always wanted to look like an undercover cop thirty years ago.
I'm getting very anxious about it though, but I dunno if everyone feels that way when they go to get their first car or anything.
How old are you?
24, depending on when exactly we can go I'll be 25.
24, depending on when exactly we can go I'll be 25.
you can't rent a car at all at 24, at 25 it'll be no less than $90 a day. if you need it for more than a week or so you'll definitely be better off just buying the car. most states give you a grace period of at least a week to register the car so I wouldn't even worry about registering it

does this even exist anymore?
does this even exist anymore?
I have 3 gas stations here with it. Plus the county airport.
every station around here has ethanol free. usually marked as marine gas for higher octane stuff or power equipment gas for 87
[editline]26th September 2016[/editline]
then again there are stations here that sell leaded race gas like it's a normal thing too
[editline]26th September 2016[/editline]
and the airport also has 100ll which is my personal performance fuel of choice
100ll smelled funny in my boat yesterday morning.
But holy shit it has never ran so fucking good its whole life.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/Img%20Dump/20160925_070239.jpg[/t]
I don't think I will fill it up again with 100ll due to the cost but 93 regular NEVER ran that well.
100ll is the secret to 60 miles per hour on my motorized bicycle. the thing pings it's ass off on 93 and I don't like putting ethanol in it
Around here, all he bp's have 93 octane corn free, and a lot of the small rural towns still have 87 octane corn free.
I used to put 100ll mixed 50/50 with pump gas in my 72 C20. It worked fine. The exhaust was a little blue and it may have dirtied up the plugs a little more than usual, but it was actually cheaper for me for reasons.
