That's an awesome pic, DP.
There's more wind here than the political debates today. I woke up and my tent was a little worse for wear, one of the poles actually bent! Go figure.
Here we have what rain does to fairly fresh clearcoat..
On the side where rain didn't blow onto it;

Time to bust out he 800 grit and sand the whole bay again so I can shoot more clear when it's not going to have a freak rainstorm come through, hopefully.
Hhhmmmmmmm, if i got 5 gallons of 100ll and jacked up the timing on my minibike to tke advantage of it, that shit would last me for many months.
Is that paint fairly expensive clutch? Has it come out like gold, or like green?

I took it out like this.

They look like halogen bulbs. The oils from your hands can make the bulbs heat up so much that they melt or even explode.
how old are you and how long do you need a car?
[editline]26th September 2016[/editline]
you can't rent a car at all at 24, at 25 it'll be no less than $90 a day. if you need it for more than a week or so you'll definitely be better off just buying the car. most states give you a grace period of at least a week to register the car so I wouldn't even worry about registering it
You can rent a car under 25, it's just way more expensive.
Went to go look at a N-SRT4 that was 4 hours away. Big waste of time. Wants over $6K for it. Solid motor mounts, stock everything but a tune, needs basically repainted, intercooler had a big ding in it, front clip was falling off, the hood was from a different Neon (Wrecked?), the trunk didn't like to latch.
I might just save up a little bit more and fly down to Texas and pick up a fully forged N-SRT4 with a big turbo for $7K.

Those H1s don't look healthy at all. Check the base for the wattage, they usually run 35w, 55w and 100w. 100w H1s are for spot lights, some fogs and old school rotator lights. 55w is the norm, and any oils on the glass will absolutely destroy them detonating the bulb or doing what the one in the middle did.
Avoid 100w bulbs because they usually get too hot for headlight housings. Sylvanias are decent, the silverstars are hella bright but because of the way they are made they don't have as good a life span as the normy bulbs, being they burn hotter.

In Florida, If you purchase a car and hold off on dating the title till your ready to register the car/truck/whatever, you can shirk around the fee for not tagging the car as soon as you bought it, making it seem like you bought it that day. but that's kinda sketchy.
It's what I did after getting my car and it sitting for about 3 months. The car rental thing is about the same here, even at 25 most places won't even talk to you.

most places won't even talk to you if you're not 25. there's no legal reason you can't rent a car before then, just insurance reasons

Most big companies will rent you a car, they'll just charge you an extra $20 per day at minimum for being young.
Source: Hertz, Enterprise, Dollar Rental, Budget, Avis, ETC.
these places can be found in virtually any remotely large city or town, and Hertz is by far the best one for young fuckers(like me), if you can't find a Sixt nearby.
For 7 weeks renting a car is going to run you like $3500 minimum if you're under 25, above 25 and the price goes down quite a bit I'm sure.
Is that paint fairly expensive clutch? Has it come out like gold, or like green?
Not really! I bought it from NAPA for about $160 a gallon + reducer. Which is pretty cheap as far as metallic paint goes it seems. The orange gloss for the Audi was around $200 a gallon.
The light shows up weird from the camera. It's a solid gold metallic when the light hits it, and just looks like gloss black all the other times. Like today it's cloudy out so it doesn't show any metallic at all, but if you shine light onto it it looks sweet!
Wellp, back to sanding.
I just thought, it's been a while since one of those "Will this shitty walmart subwoofer work?" posts.

Thanks, did not know that, the middle one probably died because I touched the bulb. The other two were in the car when I bought it last year (13 months ago) and might just have burned up, as the car itself is quite old too. My dad ordered new Phillips ones for me so I hope that'll do the trick.
So, I think I broke something new yesterday on my paper route. I can hear something in my front end clunk when I come to a stop at low speeds or when turning at high enough speeds the car starts to yaw. I don't think it's an axle since it'll do it when going straight, and I don't think it's a spring since nothing feels massively wonky. I don't have a shake while driving or anything like that. Ideas?

control arm or stabilizer bar / sway bar arm.
arnt you a audi bro?
[editline]fjkng[/editline]
Fuck Im getting confused with somone else I think.....
I cant remember who use to have the Red A4 B5 with the 2.8L
I know I just had the control arm replaced last week or the week before. And it seems to be coming from the right side more than the left near the front diff. But I thought a bad sway arm like a sway bar would cause alignment and steering issues on the front end if it went bad? Or am I just thinking of the track bar in the rear end?
(I know nothing of suspension and don't claim to try to know anything relevant)
Best thing to honestly do is climb under the car with a long prybar and pry on this until you find something stupidly lose or looks like its making noise.
A swaybar will not affect alignment, it only does magic in-between the wheels and keeps the vehicle as level as possible. Thats why a common upgrade is a bigger diamiter sway bar.

Check your swaybar or swaybar links. My jeep busted a sway bar link last year, it would make bad clunks going around turns or hitting bumps on one side.

Here's a little profile shot of what I was working with, had to knock the majority of this down so it's all uniform and sanded.

Just had it replaced. That's what was causing the squeak in my front end when depressed. It's part of the control arm assembly.
Who else wondered who the hell was copying clutch with the engine bay mods then you realized clutch changed his avatar....
This tells me I shouldn't touch the user panel settings, lol.
I love working on cars I really do but man sometimes being "The mechanic friend" gets old. A buddy of mine has an '02 firebird WS6 he calls me up at 8:30 this evening and goes
Friend: Hey how do you feel about grabbing me and the firebird and helping me replace the oil pump?
Me: Sounds good when?
F: Umm tonight?
M: fuck, When do you need it by?
F:.........Tomorrow morning at 7:30.....(friends GF) has the truck in Grand Junction at her parent's
M: Fuck me running......Okay.....You're buying beer
better than the last one I got, which was "help me with my brakes" at 8pm meaning "help me rebuild 4 drums and install a new master cylinder"
I'm usually on the other end of those. Like on saturday when I asked one of my mates for some "expert help" (he's an industrial mechanic), he asked if it was a lot of work, "no, just a bit".
By "just a bit" I meant replacing the entire interior, dashboard and carpets included. He just stopped by with some tools and went home though.
Usually when I ask for a hand with little things it's my buddy who makes it an all-day repair :v:

Lol could of been worse at least the car is fun as hell to drive (D-1SC procharger,Trick flow 235 Heads, comp 275THR7 cams, TSP 408CI stroker kit, FAST LSXR intake among other things) although the plumbing for the procharger makes the oil pump a pain in the dick to get to.

I'd rather have that than pressing for time to go pick up his kids or w.e.

Lol as would I but work and shitty timing kinda trumped that he wasn't planning on driving the 'bird til this weekend when he could replace the pump but his GF's dad had a stroke and well here we are
