So that's the rear frame, I just got this a couple months ago and now I want put on a lift. How fucked is it? The XJ is perfect in every other way so I don't wanna ditch it.

If there are no other suspension components after that section of the frame and only body mounts I would totally not worry about it. I wouldn't tow with it..... but I definitely would still drive it around and make her flex.

Well the only thing behind it is the rear bumper. So maybe! But it's unibody so I'm worried about the rest of the frame.

Just scored a 2000 Mercedes E320 off from craigslist for 400 dollars, it runs well, drives well and stops well 143k miles. The guy told me "I bought a truck and I don't like Mercedes so I want it gone" Honestly I'm losing nothing on this purchase even if it has a critical failure and shits itself a month or even a week from now.
I got a new fan controller for the vic.
Fucked up the crimp job 3-5 times, the fan was spinning at one point, then I put the fan back in place, and bam, no spinny.
Fuck simple things. Ill make it spin tomorrow, even if I have to run a fuckin toggle switch to the dashboard.

The shroud got a little bit butt destroyed when I hit the rock. I cut out some of the bits that were in the way, and the fan is a teeny bit bent, so when it spins, it give a lil love tap to the shroud. Still free enough to spin by hand.

Change the transmission fluid, trans filter, and coolant and it'll still be the same as it is now at 243k miles. If you don't, you will experience the typical 5G-Tronic issues and a head-gasket leak.
Use Chevron trans fluid, not the junk they sell at Wal-Mart

while tempting the truck is already pretty much setup minus pistons for a low compression FI build (it was originally meant to be a drag truck before I got my hands on it) maybe somewhere down the line but for right now the plan is to drop it 2" below stock drop the compression somewhere around 9:1 or so and run somewhere around 12-14 PSI
What's the compression normally? If it's anywhere between 9.6:1 or 10:1, you could tune it to run 8-10psi on 91. Providing it's intercooled.
it's 10:1 right now the procharger setup is intercooled with prochargers 3 core 3.5" race model I know I could run a bit lower boost on the CR I have right now since it's carbed but I figure if I'm gonna go full race truck I might as well go balls to the wall

they just depreciated like fucking bricks in water
the regular E46s are nothing special at all, theres far more supply than demand for non-M3 E46s.
You see the state of at E39 M5s, you can get a real nice one for like 11k with all options, although theyre slowy rising from people bigging them up too much, evenm regular E39s are cheap as fuck
but yeah, regular E46s are nothing specials, theres loads

That, and diesels are far more desirable due to cheaper running costs, lower tax etc. Fuel here is very expensive and we've bought into diesel engines in a big way for that reason. Expect to pay at least twice as much for a 330d in similar condition.
Plus if they're as cheap as £1000 they've likely been thrashed or have serious cosmetic or mechanical issues. Rust is a big problem here because we salt our roads.
I guess if you're just after a motor though it's probably no big deal.
