Anyone here have a Jeep Cherokee XJ? I've got some questions about some rusty frame damage.
Conker, Ldsu, Valon? and afew others do. Take phodos of de frame.
So that's the rear frame, I just got this a couple months ago and now I want put on a lift. How fucked is it? The XJ is perfect in every other way so I don't wanna ditch it.
Man, that is some serious gore.
Yeah the guy before me I believe towed heavy shit with it. It also spent its whole life in Maine prior to it coming here to Florida.
If they towed heavy shit with it then it would be cracked. Similar to this. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/Stuff/IMAG0970.jpg[/t] If there are no other suspension components after that section of the frame and only body mounts I would totally not worry about it. I wouldn't tow with it..... but I definitely would still drive it around and make her flex.
Saw this gem today at work [t]http://i.imgur.com/Nh6aD8g.jpg[/t] Silvia life Yes that's a Gatorade bottle cap
Don't diss Gatorade Engineering, man! That cap and that bottle has saved me so much headaches by being absolutely perfect in mouth diameter and thread size for our tanks at work. Gatorades can be used to rig a lot of shit, man.
when I was fixing up my cx500, a gatorade bottle with a hole in the lid and a hose poked through served as a fuel tank for the first 5 or so test rides.

But it's unibody so I'm worried about the rest of the frame.
just cut out that part and patch in new metal
Just scored a 2000 Mercedes E320 off from craigslist for 400 dollars, it runs well, drives well and stops well 143k miles. The guy told me "I bought a truck and I don't like Mercedes so I want it gone" Honestly I'm losing nothing on this purchase even if it has a critical failure and shits itself a month or even a week from now.
I got a new fan controller for the vic. Fucked up the crimp job 3-5 times, the fan was spinning at one point, then I put the fan back in place, and bam, no spinny. Fuck simple things. Ill make it spin tomorrow, even if I have to run a fuckin toggle switch to the dashboard.

Its funny to look at.
Guys. Guys. Not sure if this allowed or not but this is some of the weirdest and funniest shit ive read in a while. http://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/54z4f7/_/
At least yours dint catch fire. Electric fans catch fire.... Its funny to look at.
The shroud got a little bit butt destroyed when I hit the rock. I cut out some of the bits that were in the way, and the fan is a teeny bit bent, so when it spins, it give a lil love tap to the shroud. Still free enough to spin by hand.
Flyin' Miata sells a 3" lift kit. You probably already came across it, but if you didn't, might be worth considering. I still think it's crazy, but the options are available! Where do you live in MA btw? I live near the border in southern NH, so maybe when you're done I could get a ride along???
I have absolutely no idea how I've never come across this. You're a god. Still working out some cosmetic shit, sorted a new nose cone, found a guy that'll spray it down in bed liner for $50 plus materials, and gotta rebuild the engine. Soon. And I live in Turners Falls/montague/just north of Greenfield, I go to your walmart at least twice a month haha

You're welcome man, I try and always do some research each week, just to see what's out there and what my future options are. Sometimes I come across funny parts like that.
To the UK people, I see loads of nice BMW E46's for sale, even 330CI's for like 1000-2000 pounds. Are they so cheap because of the taxes on bigger engines? Or am I missing something else here.
Welp it's happening after talking it over with my buddy and doing a little research sometime in the next couple weeks we're driving back down to illinois and picking up the procharger setup. The truck is definitely gonna be a sleeper cause the body is beat to fuck and back. I'm gonna have to find a front and rear bumper cause what I got on there now would be right at home on a train. I guess I'm channeling my inner farmtruck but fuck it cause race truck lol
You should do a high compression E85 blower setup.

If you don't, you will experience the typical 5G-Tronic issues and a head-gasket leak. Use Chevron trans fluid, not the junk they sell at Wal-Mart Congratulations, and enjoy your new to you E320. Also, URO flex discs are excellent for untimely airbag deployment.
You should do a high compression E85 blower setup.
while tempting the truck is already pretty much setup minus pistons for a low compression FI build (it was originally meant to be a drag truck before I got my hands on it) maybe somewhere down the line but for right now the plan is to drop it 2" below stock drop the compression somewhere around 9:1 or so and run somewhere around 12-14 PSI
What's the compression normally? If it's anywhere between 9.6:1 or 10:1, you could tune it to run 8-10psi on 91. Providing it's intercooled.
it's 10:1 right now the procharger setup is intercooled with prochargers 3 core 3.5" race model I know I could run a bit lower boost on the CR I have right now since it's carbed but I figure if I'm gonna go full race truck I might as well go balls to the wall
Got any pics of the truck?
I'm at work ATM (getting paid to be on FP basically) but i'll take some when I get home cause the ones I have are from before I lifted it

You see the state of at E39 M5s, you can get a real nice one for like 11k with all options, although theyre slowy rising from people bigging them up too much, evenm regular E39s are cheap as fuck but yeah, regular E46s are nothing specials, theres loads

Expect to pay at least twice as much for a 330d in similar condition. Plus if they're as cheap as £1000 they've likely been thrashed or have serious cosmetic or mechanical issues. Rust is a big problem here because we salt our roads. I guess if you're just after a motor though it's probably no big deal.
