Any advice on loans? Have no credit, been denied at dozens of places for $1500-3000 loans. Tried my fiance as a cosigner, still a no go. Really want that car, but pretty much stuck. We make a decent amount of money, enough to repay a $3000 loan + interest in a couple months, just no places will give either of us a credit card or a loan.

Thats a mighty perdy weld there bud, how'd it get busted?
Mh. Good car recommendation. Thanks! Also, I got out some tools and did some things today. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Xxeu7Lp.jpg[/t] It's time for new shoes all around, new front caliper pistons, and a crap ton of brake cleaner.
To be fair you didn't exactly explain if you wanted new or old. You can honestly go with either one and win in the end it will be brand preference. A chevy of that price range can get you one clean 08+ Silverado/Tahoe/Suburban with almost literally the same motor in it from 97 that has worked flawlessly.... so why change it? On the Ford spectrum, the EcoBoost is a little higher past your price range at ~21k but would offer you mpgssss and...... stuff. I wish there were better things for that purpose that had 4x4 and was eco beasts but nope, unless you want a jeep or a Geo/Samurai.
Long time without posting, but I ended up selling my E30 project cause it was taking so long. Staying in the BMW game though, I ended up buying an E46 330 that's had the engine and drivetrain swapped from an E46 m3. (hood is real cf, wow it's so light lmao)

Do a credit check to see if you even have credit. Also, the little-prepaid cash credit cards at Walmart is a good test to see if you have any bank issues. Its interesting to watch them deny you for using their silly prepaid service. [editline]2nd October 2016[/editline] rip merge
I have a few plans for my Civic, once I get the headlight issue figured out. The rims are totally ruined from brake dust that won't come off, I assume whomever had the car before me abused the hell out of it. Shame because she's been really good honestly. I was thinking of buying some new rims + tires, but I know that'll run me a pretty penny. I'm gonna try to pick up a new radio, get that installed, and handled. Also need to find a seller who will sell + paint a new bumper for me, so I can replace the gash I have in it. Once the lights + rims + bumper are done, honestly I'll be pretty ecstatic.
Is there any reason we should pay $525 for a complete rubber kit for DP's Mercedes instead of just taking weather stripping for a house and heat gunning it into the correct shape?
Follow-up on this, went and saw it. The new carb is lovely, no more thermoquad. It ran for seconds, but there wasn't enough gas in the tank to get suction. I'm almost certainly buying it tomorrow. Any last minute advice on the 440 from our mopar guys? That is, our mopar guys who don't use exclusively /6s.
What are you getting it for? Just the engine? Not much to say about the 440, they're pretty proven engines. Cam swap, intake, and headers really wakes them up to 400hp depending on compression. After that, heads and pistons and with the right combo you can be at an easy 600-700hp all NA. The block can hold 800hp I think and then they start getting sketchy, rods are good for 400-450 i think, crank is good for 550hp (stock forged, unless the motorhome has the cast crank)
Went to the annual automotive show here in Panama. Saw a plethora of sick rides. man I love motorcycles and shit and bikers are usually in the right when it comes to cagers nearly smashing into them but one thing that pisses me off about a lot of bikers is that none of them ever know when they're in the wrong. they're so used to being in the right that when they fuck up they're too blinded by their own arrogance to admit that yeah they were wrong. today some dick on a ruckus that was like 17 years old tops ran a red light at about 15 over the speed limit, I nearly t-boned him, and at the top of his lungs yelled that I'm an asshole and removed his hand from his front brake to give me the bird, all while not watching the road ahead of him. yeah I'm the asshole because you ran a fucking red light. grow up this is the same shitty attitude that birthed the "I had to lay her down" bullshit that some of these turds keep spouting. no, you didn't have to crash your bike. you panicked and locked the brakes because you don't have the composure to ride. you'd have stopped much faster if your tires were on the ground. the fairings on your gsxr have way less traction than your tires. [editline]2nd October 2016[/editline] it's not like this is an isolated incident either. I've put down enough miles that I've seen shit like this a thousand times, and I've probably put more miles on every single one of the 15 or so bikes I've owned in the past 10 years than he will ever put on all his bikes through his whole life

In the state I was born in I never felt drivers were that bad. I ended up moving to Florida when I was 15, and came back to my birth state when I was 20. After learning to drive in Florida, and dealing with their mentality, I've noticed people in my birth state actively run red lights/take turns WAY too slow, backing up traffic/are not confident in their driving ability. Is this happening to anyone else where they live? I felt in Florida it was more fast paced, and open in some regards, so it's jarring being back here, and having this happen often.
Any advice on loans? Have no credit, been denied at dozens of places for $1500-3000 loans.
Sounds like hard credit checks piling up. Those will stick for two years since checked and negatively impact your score. I have like 15 from 2015 when I was shopping for a car and trying to apply for Sunoco credit and it fucked me right up until next year.

I'm just asking for common problem areas with the engine itself so it doesn't strand me halfway to the RV park. Maybe once I can move into a more stationary home I'll pull the engine and do something wild with it.
Man, just got done with my first ever track day (well, not just, I had to drive the two hours home and by the time I got back I was so exhausted I slept for 12 hours). All I have to say is holy fucking shit. If you are an enthusiast, and have the opportunity to, please do one. I wasn't expecting much, as the event I was doing was a small, introductory course for people new to driving on track, but even just the parade laps at 45-60 mph were intense, but by the end when the laps were getting up to almost faster than I was comfortable with (35 mph in the slowest hairpin, then up to 115 on the straights) and my instructor was still telling me to get off the brakes and get on the gas I was tensing my entire body so much that my teeth were aching after getting out of the car. I had a couple close calls with going off where I came into a corner too hot due to botched downshifts, but I'm going to practice my heel-toe to try and fix that. I've played games like Gran Turismo and Forza my whole life, and recently I've even gotten into VR and using a force feedback wheel and everything, but absolutely nothing can compare to being out there on the track, feeling the car move around you, feeling the weight move around, and hearing the tires start squealing on every turn. It's insane. I mean, it's one thing to rip up backroads, and do shit like that, but nothing can compare to this, it's hard to even put into words. As for the car, the FRS felt incredible. I have the factory sway bars, and they definitely were working out on the track. The car felt perfectly planted with almost no body roll. I'm taking the car to the dealership tomorrow under warranty to get serviced, so I'll probably inquire about the TRD lowering kit (just rebranded coilovers that don't void the warranty) and shortshifter before I do my first real HPDE in a few weeks (hopefully), and my friend is selling the JRSC kit and some pretty aggressive aero bits off his track car (also an FRS), so I might pick those up as well... Speaking of power, the car felt perfect on the track. Obviously it can't compete with higher powered cars in the straights (I was on track with mostly last-gen Z06s), but in the corners the FRS feels fantastic. My only complaint is that my brake pads definitely feel worn. :/ There's about an inch or so of travel in the pedal before my brakes bite now, rather than the instant grab I was getting before. I'll probably go ahead and get them to change out the brake fluid with some DOT4 stuff when I get it serviced, just to be safe for the next track day. I'm probably hella late as far as track days go, but I just wanted to share my experience.

Doesnt matter if its slow, reliability is king there. Stuff like oil system and cooling upgrades would be great though. You me and dp should have a steam chat sometime. Weve both worked on a few campers, and could probably offer some advice or somthin.

Also, i have no credit. I have found no way to build it. No places have accepted me or my fiance for anything. It's the only way I can see how you can build up a positive credit rating.

Maybe rip out emissions equipment to free up a little power and fuel efficiency, since it's old enough to not need smog in California. Definitely on the steam chat. I'm clueless with this stuff.
