Ran credit reports, literally the only things on them were from when my credit was just checked trying to get loans. No debts, nothing bad nor good.
Check your SO's credit too, otherwise it's your income.
A reliable engine, by all accounts. Comfortable, I'd guess. Kind of offset by the rest of the car desperately trying to die and crawl back into hell with your wallet in tow. Expensive to fix the eventual things that pop-up if you take it to the shop to have someone else do it. At work, we only fool around with the basics like oil changes, light installs, tire replacement, and etc. on them. It's nothing insanely difficult, but it can get fairly frustrating to diddle around with even that as compared to anything else (this goes for most eurojunk in general, though). Then again, if I was doing it at home at my own pace it wouldn't be too big of a deal considering it isn't holding up a line of other shit when I have it parked in my garage. Anything after that is the type of stuff I wouldn't even want to bother doing. I've watched a few repair vids, and talked to guys that have messed with them, and it all sounds like a massive headache waiting to happen. It's a shame, I really like most BMW products on the surface, but I feel like I would be dreading them breaking down more than I would be enjoying the ~~Ultimate Driving Experience~~ tl;dr yeh nah get and ls400 if you want a comfy V8 car to take long trips in. It eliminates most of the cons that come with those types of vehicles.
LS400s are great! Make sure you check out the power steering pump, they seem to be the biggest issue with those cars - not expensive to fix though. Don't get one with airbag suspension either, those are getting more and more expensive to fix. Also - Ive read that dash lights going out are super common, it's a well documented and non-expensive fix. If I didn't have to drive so much, in the winter, every day I'd totally jump on an LS400. [editline]3rd October 2016[/editline] On a side note I had no credit either but I opened a Discover One for Students card and I was approved. I plan to use it to build my credit which, according to Discover is apparently good. Point is, maybe opening a card like that and using it for small purchases you pay off each month would help?

I've always wondered what it'd be like to drive in shit weather. Right now my MR2 is my backup ar once it's done :v:

Right now my MR2 is my backup ar once it's done :v:
southeast SD winter lasts mid october through april, a normal day is 10 degrees F, 20-30mph wind, and it usually snows once every 2-3 weeks. Blizzards, ice storms, or over 5" in a day usually once a month or so.
I ended up doing a secured card when I was 18 to build my credit. I did it with Capital One, and they should (hopefully) be giving me back my deposit soon. With Capital One you could put like $100, and they'll give you a $200 limit. Honestly just anything to build your credit. Not more than a year later I got accepted for a Discover Card, and my credit is still growing. Just paying off the statement balance every time, and using only up to 30% of my available credit. It's just gonna take time.
That one doesn't sound as bad. All the ones I looked at, you put in $100, you can only charge $100. [editline]3rd October 2016[/editline]
Well. You can have the same issue I have, I have a giant lien against me from JP morgan and literally get denied for even opening up a bank account for anyone due to the red flag. It could be the same case bias to you, plus they don't show up on a credit check. Honestly, I do believe anyone here can help you, you have the exact same issue I have but I know what caused mine, but I have not ever looked into fixing my issue.
How would you check for something like that, if it doesnt show on credit reports? I've never taken out loans of any kind, bought everything outright, i should be free and clear [editline]3rd October 2016[/editline]
Check your SO's credit too, otherwise it's your income.
I'm convincing her to run hers, she should be in the same boat.
I'm convincing her to run hers, she should be in the same boat. Never had loans, never financed anything, etc.
What was your credit score by the way?
The way I got started was having one of my parents (780+ score) co-sign a loan on my Charger for $8K for 3 years. Paid two payments a month, split in two. One for the before interest and the other after. Paid it off 3 months early. That got my credit score to about 650+, but still limited credit. Currently in the process of getting it even higher though. From what I've been told... Having bad credit is actually better than no credit.
Is it normal in the US to get a loan for your car? Like, I see people buying a car just like that. Here in the Netherlands it's common to have to save for a few years before you can buy a car. Almost nobody finances it. (excluding deals that come with a job ect)

Its also how dealerships make their money. Auto loan rates here are like 2% so you are able to get a good monthly payment on it
Is there any reason we should pay $525 for a complete rubber kit for DP's Mercedes instead of just taking weather stripping for a house and heat gunning it into the correct shape?
What vendor are you looking at? The biggie is the rear windshield seal as a leak there will rot your package tray and the trunk hinge mounts.
DP got the rear windshield seal already but everything else, all the rubber around the doors and everything is dry rotted. Everywhere I've looked is pretty expensive for purpose-made replacement rubber, but I just want it to keep the rain out, I don't care if it's correct. Can I add you on steam?

One thing the PO of my 420SEL did was fill the cracks with silicone with a fabric mesh over the silicone and bonded to each side of the crack. I'll take a look at sealing for the 115 chassis. I was considering becoming the new custodian of that 115, but I didn't know how much was wrong with it aside from the injection pump issues, and for some reason seals and trim seem to be the most expensive parts of any old MB. I don't recommend URO Parts as their quality tends to be less than stellar, but it's a door seal and not a critical or load bearing part. Just be sure to put some silicone around the lip of the seal where it contacts the door to prevent tearing. Find the link to the URO door seal on amazon below, but there may be lower prices elsewhere. The only loan ive ever taken out was a $5000 directly subsidised student loan for tech school. Im almost halfway done paying that off at $100 a month (minimum was $50). [editline]3rd October 2016[/editline] Actually wait no idid have an amazon store card for a while, but i dont know if that counts, and i closed it after synchrony bank started acting like dickholes.
if ya get a french car 9/10 chance you'll need to take the bumper off to change the bulb, renault are really bad for it too
yeah, what? I've been working for citroen/honda for a month now and have yet to see anyone pull a bumper to change any light bulbs.
Mint says my credit score is a shiny 711.
Yeah, that student loan should have given you enough credit, provided that you haven't missed any payments, a pretty good score. However, because you're credit is "new" it's not as trust worthy as some one who has 20 years of shit credit. Plus it's only one line of credit. Ideally you want 5 lines of credit that are 10+ years. Which means you can suck a huge dock for 10 years.

I have no lines any more other than my bank. But I've paid off a car and student loan. But I still have limited credit. I can get loans, but usually with some less than desirable interest rates.
The headlight bulbs I ordered should be here tomorrow. Gonna head to a friend's who has the tools, and going to take my car apart a bit to get to the headlights. Replacing both sides. Really hope this was the issue, and not a bad box.
Cousin is looking for a winter beater for under $2500, any recomendations? Alberta.kijiji.ca is our local ad website if anyones bored and wants to look!

My uncle got a new car...
So I just put ANOTHER set of new handlebars on the 750 this weekend, along with clamps and grips, tucked the wires, and realigned the front suspension. She's handling beautifully! On my way to work this morning I noticed my left hand cramping up everytime I pulled in the clutch, so I knew I had to adjust it. I grabbed some tools as I was leaving work later that day, made an adjustment, and took off - wasn't quite right. So I'm nearly home and I stop at a local Burger King to make another adjustment. I have my headphones in and helmet on, music bumping... when I hear this LOUD ASS BOOM right behind me! I flip around expecting to see someone holding a 12 gauge, but no, it's some old fuckin' lady who drove her car straight into the front door of Jimbos. I stood there, jaw agape, before running my ass across the parking lot to see if there was anything I could do. By sheer shit luck, she didn't hit anyone and no one had been hurt, despite the fact she was a good 30 feet into the store. Staff told me that they'd already called the police and there was nothing anything anyone could do, so I snapped a few shots. [t]http://imgur.com/FbTkl8b.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/y5N4CvF.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/dLSuzHv.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/FNY1wjb.jpg[/t] Part of me feels sorry for her, but this brings up a really important point that doesn't get enough attention - old people need to be checked more often for their driving competency. At the age of 65 they are required to take a written test, but not a behind-the-wheel, and it allows things like this; mixing up the brake and the accelerator, falling asleep at the wheel, driving unsafely slow, etc. They're a fuckin' hazard and she could have killed a lot of people in this incident. Really crazy though, I've never seen anything like it.
Mississippi has 8 year license renewals and that's terrifying. You can renew your license at 60 and they won't take a second look at you until you're 68.

Glad that everyone including the older woman was okay. Maybe she just really wanted that car side service.

(excluding deals that come with a job ect)
Most of the time, for my family at least, we buy outright. I bought my truck outright for $500 almost two years ago now, we routinely buy $2000-5000 cars with cash. I'm looking for a loan due to this being a rare, once in a lifetime chance. I wasn't even looking for a car.
New RCR has my favorite car of all time on it. 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQ8nph2w6GE I'm sure it's 90% nostalgia but this was the car I had growing up and I wanted to learn to drive in this car. I loved this car, even when I knew nothing about cars. Sure I liked most of the other cars we had, as kids who like cars a little do, but this one was always my favorite. I was very sad when the muffler fell out on the middle of the road and my parents decided to get rid of it instead of fix it. It was also the car that lasted longest with us, 13-15 years (1991-2003?4?)
