exhaust noises are boring tbh induction noise is what really gives the boners
Forced induction noises....... YES.
Anyway, looks like I'll be selling the Charger tonight for a cool $4500. We'll see.

EDIT:
Alright guys, since I'm so torn on what to do, what do you guys think I should go for in my next car?
2003-2005 Dodge Neon SRT4:
Pros:
* Four doors
* Huge aftermarket
* 30mpg
* Cheap to build and maintain
Cons:
* Manual - I drive in really heavy traffic and it would suck to put left foot in and take left foot out and shake it all about
* Almost all of them are beat little puppies (I've seen two really nice stock ones)
* Four cylinders don't make a lot of low end torque
2005-2009 LX Car (Magnum/300/Charger)
Pros:
* Four doors
* Huge aftermarket
* V8 TORQUE
* V8 SOUND
* Super comfortable and spacious
Cons:
* Expensive parts (Kind of)
* Cost quiet a bit to maintain
* Expensive to purchase from the get go
* Gas mileage is okay
1990-1991 Dodge Daytona Turbo (Or something like a 1987 Shelby Lancer)
Pros:
* Cheap as hell to maintain
* Cheap performance parts
* 27MPG with an auto - 32 - 42MPG with manual
* Already have tons of parts for them and experience
* Cheap to buy and insure
* TONS & TONS of cheap mods
Cons:
* Body parts are hard to find (Engine and trans is no issue)
* Getting pretty old, so reliability is okay
* Hard to find one in good shape
* 3-speed is a dog without extensive mods, and don't want a manual because of traffic (maybe)
* Basically a two seater
I'm so torn lol.

even naturally aspirated induction noises are nice.
anyway I found another datsun 620 on craigslist that's in much better condition that I may buy over the 78 I posted yesterday. under 2 hours away and has been on craigslist forever so I can probably talk the guy down assuming it's not been there forever because the guy won't budge
http://pensacola.craigslist.org/cto/5734597306.html
other than a few questionable modifications (stretched tires and a wonky sunroof) it's pretty mint. even has brakes out of a newer truck and a motor and trans out of a 240sx, so it should be pretty damn fun to drive if I sort out the stretched tires and either seal the sunroof properly or take it out and weld in new sheet metal (this is the option I'm leaning towards).
as for tires, what's cheap and fits a 15x10 rim? I'm thinking 275-60/15s since you can get cooper cobras in that size and they actually fit the rims but if there's a cheaper size that looks right I'm all ears
even if I have to raise the suspension and stick some big ass flares on it I'm fine with that. tbh I'd rather live with mexipoke than be seen with stretched tires
also definitely gonna have to get rid of that japanese text on the splitter I can't be seen with DANGERED STYLE written on my car
that or I may just get the cheap one. don't know yet. they're both rusty turds but the more expensive one is less rusty and has a better motor in it. the cheaper one needs more work, but the more expensive one wants more. I can ignore problems like rust, but I can't ignore aesthetic problems.
[editline]7th September 2016[/editline]
@lerlth
the neon is fast-ish but it's a boring fwd turd that will understeer you to your death, lx platform cars can be really fast for not a lot of money and will oversteer you to your death, which is objectively better than understeering to your death.
the only people who own daytona turbos are either special snowflakes or people who bought them in 1991. shelby lancers are rad but good luck anything shelby that's not a mustang or a cobra kit car
Forced induction noises are just pure pornography.
Speaking of cold air intakes:
I decided to do a air filter box delete today:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/MzqrTi8.jpg[/t]
Helped a little on the knocking noise, but something is still wrong.
On my test drive I noticed some bearing noise with the engine running though, so I'll be looking at a serpentine belt replacement sometime in the near future. Hopefully it's just one of the idler pulleys.

I saw a really nice Shelby Lancer for sale about a week ago. It was $4K though. I feel more comfortable in owning an LX or a G body. Since I've obviously owned them before.
Pfft. Look what popped up.

yeah I've been wanting to get into minitrucks for years but they're not really common around here except as lowriders and shit that's been tubbed and had a 302 crammed in it. I don't want to pay for the mods someone else wanted in the case of a lowrider and as for tubbed race trucks I still want the bed to be functional. I carry too much shit to sacrifice that much bed
the only thing you can ever find stock around here is hardbodys
Is a Dodge Dakota small enough truck? I feel like the single cab short bed is just the right size. Big enough to be useful and small enough not be cumbersome. Engines ranged from 2.5L I4 all the way up to a 5.9L V8.

You should probably just find another LX car if you don't NEED something vastly different. Out of all of those options, I think it'd be the best fit, and probably the best use of your money as far as getting something fun to drive/comfortable/etc. goes. The older 300cs are preddy cheap right now, and are comfy as h*ck.
Finding an SRT4 that hasn't been actually turned into it's own mobile (if you're lucky) junkyard is essentially impossible.
I know next to nothing about daytonas or the like so I can offer no opinion worth anything, but it seems like the same story.
Also, driving a manual in thick traffic isn't all that bad, realistically. On my way back from North Carolina I got caught between one charger (heh) that caught on fire a couple miles up ahead of us, and one brush fire a couple MORE miles ahead of that all clogging the hell out of traffic, and it was really bad stop and go. If anything, having one more petal to manage may have saved me from taking my gun to my head out of frustration and boredom :v:
How about an S10?
Small to the point where it's obnoxious. Leg room is bad and the throw on the stick is long enough to jab the middle passenger in the dick every time you put it into 4th.
Middle passenger? Tell them that's what the fucking bed is for! :v:

Maybe an old Toyota then? My Grandpa had an old Hilux that was pretty petite. It currently lives in Montana with my Uncle as a hunting/winter truck.
Also, the family (and I mean the extended family, from grandparents down) are converging on Phoenix for Christmas. I've been thinking about scouting out a Dart around there, and then driving it back after the vacation.
Manual isnt too bad in traffic, depends on the vehicle I guess. My big dodge I can throw in 1st and just ride that, never have to touch the gas pedal (impossible to stall in first) and the gearing is so low you dont have to be on the brakes 24/7. Release and coast.
[editline]7th September 2016[/editline]
That chrysler is pretty sweet! I'd be happy around $8500 for it I wager, fair amount of aftermarket stuff done to it but the body is getting up there in miles (suspension components could be getting soggy?). The current rims kill it, needs something different, but I guess you cant stagger a awd car.
How about an S10?
I owned a '94 SS for about a month and it made me hate being alive the brakes sucked and it rattled and droned so now I'm put off of them for life
Oh, I'd buy that in a heartbeat for $8500. My Charger was $8K when I bought it.
I love the notch style of the 300, plus the nice Dodge front end. Perfect.
Yeah. The wheels aren't good. Not sure what would look good. All the wheels in my area on 300s are... "Ghetto". Like 22-24" Chrome pieces of shit.
[thumb]http://vossenwheels.com/Gallery/FileUpload/Gallery/Chrysler_300C_VVSCV1_4d4.jpg?width=1600&quality=75[/thumb]
The nicest wheels I've found for the chryslers are a set of Vossen CV1's. They're far from cheap though haha
I still want to buy a 06-10 SRT8, I've got my duster though. If a good one comes along under 12k, I may cave in haha
I loved my 05 300C.
[editline]7th September 2016[/editline]
I'd check that car out at the very least if you've got the cash, cant hurt to lay down an offer!

Valves, timing (timing chain/belt even), pulleys. Bottom end noise is usually very distinguishable from top end noise so hopefully it's something simple. My crank pulley on the Miata is actually two pulleys bolted together, one acting as the harmonic balancer. 3 of the 4 bolts cracked and made a terrible noise but was an easy fix.
dunno why people are talking about driving stick in traffic but its really not bad at all
after driving my car for a week it chafed me a little bit just because of anxiety about it, but after learning the clutch and knowing how to shift smoothly, its no problem. i'd even go so far as to call it enjoyable as long as you're not stuck in an hour-long traffic jam going uphill. and this is driving a zero torks frs.
also, birdman, ive heard rumblings that the newest head2head is the new GTR vs the new NSX... can you... confirm?
[editline]7th September 2016[/editline]
also ordered my gear for my bike today and put some seafoam in the tank to get some of the varnish off the carbs. the idle is still rough but definitely improving. the previous owner just let it sit with unstabilized gas in it for almost 2 years, so i'll probably have to actually clean the carbs eventually, but considering that its running fine as long as you dont flood the engine immediately after cold starting it ill probably just wait until it starts getting cold again

It's common for the center idler pulley to go bad, so common in fact that they recommend just bypassing it. I'll rig up something to keep the engine up while I take off the motor mount (it sits right above the front of the engine) and check the pulleys.
It sounds exactly like the idler pulley that's dying on my riding mower.
Meh, stick in traffic can be a suicide inducing situation. I got stuck in stop and go traffic for an hour and a half in the NSX once and I was legit wore out by the time I got to where I was going. It including one gigantic hill and had about 3-4 starts on it, too. In a Cavalier or something, no problem. But with a grabby clutch, horrible.
I got Celica #2 today!

This is the rail for the rear window seal. I was looking into why it didn't seat well, and this might be why. Luckily I started scraping on it, and it seems like it's all scaling, and not actual rot. It's still solid metal. So I think I can clean and seal it and it'll be legit

Reminds me of the time I went to Houston to visit friends in my Mustang GT with that Spec Stage 2 clutch. 2 hours being stuck in stop and go. By the time I got to the end, my left leg had a charlie horse which made shifting to get back up to speed torture. I also glazed the clutch from so much stop and go.
I feel like the guy with the 300 is hiding something about the car. Like, why hasn't he replaced the t-stat, fans, and belt himself? That's like $130 worth of stuff and 45 mins of work. I asked him if he thinks when it overheated if it damaged the heads at all and he says no, but he's not comfortable with me driving it 7.5 hours home. What's up with that? I asked him if he could do a compression test and a leak down test for me. I'll see what he says about that.
I can't change all that stuff no problem. That's 40 mins in a parking lot kind of thing.
I'd walk away.
