Jesus Christ, one belt to run them all. Why Mercedes?
Better than my RV's solution of having a separate belt for the PS pump, A/C compressor, and alternator. With no tensioners so you have to take each accessory off in order to change belts.
Jesus Christ, one belt to run them all. Why Mercedes?
Because it's the standard? Every car I've looked at has a single serpentine belt. I know older cars have individual belts, but we came up with this arguably better arangement. These days we're moving towards a single alternator belt again, but yeah.

I mean, who really, in their right mind, thought a production vehicle would take that without a problem?

I almost bought one when they first came out but decided I'd wait until they started showing up on the used market in a few years. it's a nice car but not quick enough to justify the new price tag imo

As a 2013 this was 10K less than it was new, so that's depreciation for you. The plan is to keep this one clean instead of sifting through trashed ones if I were to wait longer.
If I'm gonna crash, I'm gonna make sure that I die. I don't want to live life as a vegetable
Doing a little more insulating. I'm done on my side now except for the roof. I'm going to need the car out and use scaffolding for that.
Trust me its a lot fucking better than having each one of those having their own drive belt like my 420SEL. Most modern cars use 1 belt to do it all, and it makes life a lot easier. Instead of 5 belt tensioners, there is 1.
Plus it shaves about half a foot off of the front end of the car compared to if each one had it's own belt
But on the down side it means that you're sort of fucked if the aircon compressor seizes up, you can't just run the engine.
The 25D was discontinued in '99, you have a 251 or 253.
Your coil pack has the cylinders numbered, #1 is passenger front i believe.
That is the easiest to access as far as plugs and wires go.
My bad! It's the 251 I think, it's been a while since I checked and I got my designations mixed up.
Hopefully I can get to the bottom of this soon.
And done

Downside of re-using the door (which was perfectly intact) is that the new panels make the door look awful. Gonna see if I can replace the inner panel in the door so it all matches up.

my silverado blows heat whether you want it to or not. in south mississippi summers where neither the temperature nor humidity ever fall below 90. it's also a black truck with a black interior and no tint, and it's my daily driver.
on the upside when you get out of the truck the cool 95 degree weather feels better than having a nut
Well my 190E doesn't have aircon so :v:
Ah, I thought all 1980s Mercs had aircon.
Time to piss everyone off by saying that having one of these will make my life complete!

No but seriously. I want one of these. If I can't afford that I might as well get me one of these.

So I went to go check out this SRT-4 yesterday.
Looks really clean. Perfect interior. No rust any where. 97,000 miles.
Mods:
No vacuum lines, all wastegate (Scares me, I'd hook all that back up)
Big FMIC from MPX
Two gauge pillar pod with wideband and boost
Forged BOV
Forged Wastegate
Lowered
3" straight through exhaust (Actually not that loud)
Short throw shifter
There's a few things wrong with it, such as the vacuum lines behind unhooked. It flutters when you let off the gas which I think is the BOV not opening, because it doesn't blow off correctly. The roof needs repainted or at least re-clear coated, typical Chrysler paint though.
He wants $7K, but I offered 6. He said he'd think about it. He's a really cool guy, but I don't want to spend that much more than that on a car right now.
I'd love to have it though. What do you guys think?

Jump on 'er! I want to see a first hand account of what they're like. I hear they're pretty fuckin' gnarly cars with some work done to them!
On a serious note from how you describe it seems like a fairly well taken care of car
It was a really smooth running car other than the BOV being borked. Cleanest SRT I've ran into that isn't 1000 miles away. I mean, I'm okay with paying $6K for a clean one. For $7K-$9K you can get Stage 4 or 5 600HP cars. But at that point you can throw reliability out the door.

Norway has a period of two years where you can get double points, but otherwise there's no restrictions.

I never thought 95 degrees 80% humidity would feel cool until I got out of a 150F attic after 20 minutes of sweat literally raining off me.
US has them as well
Do they restrict what sort of car you can drive on it or can you still drive a muscle car?
Norway has a period of two years where you can get double points, but otherwise there's no restrictions.
Well that's better than ours where you get 4 demit points and get suspended for 3 months if you lose them.

I dont have a complete answer for you as each state can regulate it differently, but where I am the provisional license is a class D. This is typically for people ages 15-18. At 18 you gain a full privledge license automatically.
Class D is any vehicle under 26,000 pounds without air brakes. The provisional license limits passengers in the vehicle and driving hours. Additionally, any DWI conviction invalidates your license until you're 18 and must redo the entire licensing process.
You can drive any vehicle under 26k pounds and without air brakes minus motorcycles.
there are 2 stages of provisional license here, the first is called a learner's permit where you have to have a licensed driver in the car with you and can only drive during daylight hours, the second is called an intermediate where you can drive alone, but only during daylight hours, then there's the standard class r license that lets you drive any regular car or truck. motorcycles require a motorcycle endorsement on your regular class r license, and big trucks and vehicles over a certain seating capacity require a commercial driver's license. there are a few other weird ones floating around but that covers 99.9% of what you'll see.
[editline]24th October 2016[/editline]
for commercial vehicles there are class a, class b, class c, and class d
Class A – Any Combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or towing a vehicle with a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more.
Class B – Any Single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more.
Class C – Any Single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 26,001 pounds.
Vehicles designed to transport sixteen or more passengers, including the driver.
Vehicles used in the transportation of hazardous materials which are required to be placarded under the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act.
class d is just a catch all to cover anything that requires a cdl but isn't covered by the other 3 classes.
plus the endorsements system for cdls
H – Authorizes the driver to drive a vehicle transporting Hazardous Materials
K – Restricts the driver to vehicles not equipped with air brakes
T – Authorizes driving doubles and triple trailers
P – Authorizes driving vehicles carrying passengers
N – Authorizes driving Tank vehicles
X – Represents a combination of hazardous materials and tank vehicle endorsements
S – Restricts the driver to school buses being operated for the purpose of transporting pupils to and from school or to school related functions.
[editline]24th October 2016[/editline]
the weirdest other license you can get is the restricted motorcycle license which allows you to ride a motorcycle and nothing else. plus there's stuff like hardship licenses which allow people who normally wouldn't be issued a license like underage people or people with a recent DUI conviction to do things like get to and from work or go to the hospital as needed if they can prove that they have health issues that's getting them in and out of the hospital
e:
oh and there's a limited learners permit that allows 14 year olds to complete drivers ed
