Yeah, I'm thinking so too. Well. Back to looking at Magnums!
Well, we're off to a good start in the new thread. I just had the WORST day.
I had a race today, all was fine. Until I blew up my engine, not the "we could fix that" type. No the type where your pistons are all over the pavement and blew a hole right through the block.
Didn't catch it on camera as it was only a qualifying session, but because everything went to shit my rear wheels also locked at about 190kmp/h through a fast corner but I managed to save it quite easily.
So yeah, looks like I won't be racing anymore for quite a while. Which honestly feels like a kick in the guts. Replacement blocks (S50B30) are pretty rare nowaday and too expensive. So I guess the next best step is a S54B32 engine from a E46 M3. Those go for about 5000-6000$. By my calculations I can save up to $500 a month. So that's roughly a year. :suicide:
I guess there are worse things in life, but having to save up 500 a month means spending absolutely nothing, for 12 months straight.
So yeah, here's to hoping I can make some money on the side, or come across a cheap engine.
I feel like the guy with the 300 is hiding something about the car. Like, why hasn't he replaced the t-stat, fans, and belt himself? That's like $130 worth of stuff and 45 mins of work. I asked him if he thinks when it overheated if it damaged the heads at all and he says no, but he's not comfortable with me driving it 7.5 hours home. What's up with that? I asked him if he could do a compression test and a leak down test for me. I'll see what he says about that.
I can't change all that stuff no problem. That's 40 mins in a parking lot kind of thing.
I walk away when ever someone says only needs xyz after they pretty much put in every single other part that trakes 3x longer and more expencive to replace trying to fix the issue.

This is the rail for the rear window seal. I was looking into why it didn't seat well, and this might be why. Luckily I started scraping on it, and it seems like it's all scaling, and not actual rot. It's still solid metal. So I think I can clean and seal it and it'll be legit

So I accidentially became the owner of two cars
Both '93 Subaru Justy's. One with a manual. The other an automatic.

Buddy is trying to settle a bunch of due bills with the provincial insurance broker so he bought both cars as a package deal for $400 and I signed the papers under my name because he couldn't get them insured to move them.
Anyways no pics yet but both are in...well...they have been sitting in a field for six years. They both run but they both have their issues. I managed to get the Manual transmission car home tonight but not after turning on the fan and getting the contents of a mouse nest blown around the inside of the car and not before a terrifying altercation where halfway home on a backroad I realize that my throttle has stuck and because the battery is fucked I can't stop the car or else we won't be able to start it again.
Buddy has been told that both cars need to be out of my yard and in his name by the end of the month or they're going on Craigslist for $100 each.
Big rig is back on the road!!

Be honest homie, did you roll coal on her? Because if you did I would've had about the same reaction, and I don't even have an unborn child lol.
Here's today's report;
Finished pulling the fenders, which were held on with some strip-caulk style stuff along the top that actually dried and was horrible to get off. But we got em with a heat gun. Each one had 2x 12MM bolts on the bottom which looked like trouble and didn't want to budge last night. But I hit em with PB Blast and they just spun right out tonight. I was stoked about that.

Found a little rot under the fenders.. but this will be cake to cut and patch, won't even need bodywork since it's all under panels.

Then in order to keep cleaning up the engine bay I had to get the evaporator out to weld its hole up eventually. So out the dash had to come.

So you know how replacing front speakers on an old Wrangler is either pull the dash or alien-arm them? Same idea here. It's behind the cluster and above an air vent and looks like it would be a real treat. This one only came with one speaker, but had holes/studs for another passenger side one and holes for rear deck speakers, too.

A little bit more work and the evaporator HVAC box was ready to come out. This setup is kind of cool, it's a 3-piece HVAC box, with the main middle one that houses the heater core, the center section which houses the AC, and the passenger side piece that houses the blower and recirc flap. As long as I'm this deep I may just pull the whole business to wash it all.

I'm super torn on paint choice. I love it in black, but don't want to do black. I like the idea of a dark dark root beer brown that looks black until the sun hits it, and have been stuck on that since I got the car.
But the satin black is pretty cool, too, almost like it has now, but would need to be "better" lol.
Or just a metallic black, kind of like a lot of new Fords rock.
Or a different color?? Ugh the sky is the limit unfortunately. And there's not many examples online to base it off of so I gotta just do what I feel like doing I guess.
It weirds me out when someone makes a lot of progress on a project car that quickly. I'm so used to my own projects where I feel super accomplished just to get one panel off in the space of a whole week.
Jackpody! You NEEEEED this! Do buy.

Dark Brown is awesome on cars of this era, but with a lot of pearl/flake really turns it from flat and boring to really clean but sorta like period correct or something.
Going to look at an E320 wagon this weekend, owner says it only needs a battery but as always, we shall see :v:
Well yesterday as we were about to leave on a roadtrip, my dad left the top glass door open on the camper shell of his 2003 f150 and snagged it on the garage door, broke all the glass, and ripped it halfway off. This is problematic for me as i ride in the back on road trips in my recomissioned half computer chair. So, i went and got a sheet of acryllic and we made a rear window out of it and a 2x2 and zipties.

Then we went and drove through a hailing thunderstorm and it didnt even leak at all.

Don't know if you guys heard, but 2 days ago a Porsche 911 993 GT2 sold at auction for £1.8million/$2.4million http://www.pistonheads.com/news/general/rm-sothebys-london-results/34917
absolutely ridiculous that an aircooled porsche went for that much, yes it was a pretty limited production and the ultimate version of the 993, but $2.4million
[editline]9th September 2016[/editline]
it was estimated at £800,000
I did it again. God...DAMMIT!
I installed a battery in a car backwards and nuked the 60A main fuse.
I can't even fathom how I managed to do it even once....
