So the timing belt was loose for whatever reason, but it wasn't when I bought the car :v:
How do I align the camshaft and the crankshaft so I don't destroy my engine when installing the new timing belt?

There should be a little mark on the engine block and one around each camshaft and the crankshaft, as well as a mark on each cam and crank pulley.
There should be a little mark on the engine block and one around each camshaft and the crankshaft, as well as a mark on each cam and crank pulley.
I'll have to take a better look then. I only saw markings for the crankshaft on the timing belt cover, didn't see anything resembling markings on or around the camshaft pulley.
Do I need any special tools to change the fuel filter on my car? I feel like it's affecting gas mileage because I'm down about 3 mpg( and when you get 14 combined that's a lot!)

It hasn't been changed since before I bought the car, 40k miles ago.

You can borrow the quick disconnect tool from the part store as those will be metal vs the plastic HF version.
Cam and crank person.
Google any fourm that is common on your car. We are FP not manufacturer specific and we tend to not be able to even give you any more insight if you also don't tell (most of us including myself) what you drive in atleast every post.
Also your finger works great to make farty noises on the compression cycle.

Depends. On my Daytona it was just two hose clamps on each side and it was bolted to the bottom of the car. Unscrewed the hose clamps and took the bolt out and did the reverse for the new one.
Had a new car kind of fall into my lap. Super happy with this one, no more fixing my cars every weekend to get to work, and hopefully I can turn it around quickly once Tesla has more news on the Model 3.

Quick disconnect tool. Never use the plastic ones. Never.

I hate to speculate but is that a tesla place and a white model x in the background? Looks awfully correct.
Hi guys. I'm in the market for a used hatchback, mid 2010s model year, and I've been looking especially at the 2012- model Ford Focus Titanium/SELs.

Is there anything mechanical or otherwise that I should beware when it comes to these vehicles? What should I be looking to pay for a decently well-trimmed, low KM example? Any advice?
Cleaned up all the bulb connections on the E320, had some nasty corrosion issues that had triggered a "LAMP DEFECTIVE" on the info center. Going to go take it to see what they say it will "need" for a Maine state inspection. Other than that I'm STILL WAITING ON THE WINDOW REGULATOR, its been 3 weeks what the fuck Rock Auto.

If it's an automatic then the transmission should have service records, otherwise don't bother.

Small town glass shop. You're right though, it almost looks like it.

Generator runs! The points weren't installed right (my fault) and they were supposed to be adjusted before getting installed at all (I didn't know and generator store man didn't tell me).
Sorry birdman, it wasn't the coil. No My Summer Car for me :(

It's so old it has a generator instead of alternator?
Or it's one of the few old alternators with mechanical voltage regulators?

No, it's the 4KW AC generator in the RV I live in I'm talking about. Sorry for confusion.
That said I'm pretty sure the alternator is on the way out, too. Turning on the headlights noticeably slows my heater fan.

Explains my confusion, because most older popular vehicles have conversion kits from either generator to alternator with electronic voltage control, or from 'mechanical' (points relay) to semiconductor regulator if manufactured with some of the first alternators.
In general the semiconductor voltage regulator greatly outlasts both the mechanical regulators, and the coal brushes for the rotor in a alternator, and also has a more stable output.
I had a VERY bad day :v:
I was supposed to go to this race-car rental business to check out some stuff they had, I was hoping they'd have a spare E36 chassis for my new racecar. But stuff got in the way and I went today instead, turns out they sold a mint looking chassis with full FIA spec rollcage for 250 euro's yesterday.....
:suicide:

Also, this is probably one of the best pieces of racing I've ever seen. You got
-drivers giving eachother the finger
-cars on 2 wheels
-cars that should be wrecked, wrecking the competition

This is why I try to catch the touring car class races of the Pirelli World Challenge when I can. Touring car racing is just awesome, even though they can be pretty slow. I mean they race Honda Fits for hells sake!
But I do suggest this classic F1 shitshow. The events that happened in this wet Spa GP were just absurd, really quite hilarious actually. Wish I somehow found myself getting in to F1 way back then. I figure if I was watching the X-Games back then, and enjoy cars already, why oh why couldn't I have found auto racing much sooner?!

I feel the same. Which means something is going to break.
I swear my truck spends more time in the garage getting new parts slapped on than it does on the road.
Cars like gasoline.

Please dont hurt me, me and kart22racer were testing somthing.
Ive been working so much i havent had a chance to install just 2 fucking wires incthe dart and start it. That money tho...
Traded wheels + tires again
Duramax 16's, 285/75/16 Sierra somethings

Pacer 16x8 bullets, 265/75/16 Cooper somethings

Main reason for trade; IFS trucks suck. Like the Duramax rims, the offset was so low that the tires kept hitting my drag link and tearing the boot off.
Found out my front right hub bearing is beyond trashed, not driveable, should not have been driving it lately. Thinking Timken(?) Bearing kit, if i can get it locally.

BTCC is always hilarious, it's calmed down a little in the last few years but there is always quality driving and antics on track
Minor blogpunch:
It's amazing to be able to just warm up leftovers in the microwave again. Having a generator turns this motorhouse into a motorhome. The generator starts up so incredibly easy, even in 40 degree weather.
