This morning I found myself wishing I had a heated steering wheel. It was a really nice winter in Mississippi last year.
Heated steering wheel? Mississippi? You shouldn't have that feature in that state.
conversely, I found myself sweating my ass off this morning. it's still miserably hot here
It's like 35 in the morning and 75 at noon so my body doesn't know what to do. [editline]4th November 2016[/editline]
Heated steering wheel? Mississippi? [editline]4th November 2016[/editline] Hilariously enough I actually have an opportunity to move to Seattle. Maybe next year...
Since the furnace in the RV doesn't work, I just dart out of bed and turn on all the burners on the stove in the morning to heat the thing. Then I dive back into the covers and huddle for warmth.
So I'm trying to replace the CAS o-ring in my miata, but I'm having a hard time making sure the timing is correct This is a 'bump' in the pulley I thought what would line up with the timing markings on the other side of the pulley, so I marked it with the whiteout [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/zWBXJlI.jpg[/img_thumb] These markings are what actually line up with the 10 degree markings for timing on the pulley, the faint marking on the far left lines up perfectly with the 10 degree mark, the other mark on the right is somewhat off the 10 degree mark when the timing light is applied. [img_thumb]http://imgur.com/aJvl4le.jpg[/img_thumb] I'm literally so confused, RPM's are set at 850, in diagnostic mode, etc. Is this some previous owner tom-foolery or am I just missing something huge?
I don't know but that belt is going to snap any time
so turns out my oil pan gasket was dumping oil all over my starter
Totally normal. Even my manual Saab does that.
I thought in all Saabs you have to park it in reverse to let the key out.
I thought in all Saabs you have to park it in reverse to let the key out.
P works. dunno about the other modes on 9-5 -01
I thought in all Saabs you have to park it in reverse to let the key out.
I don't like to admit how long it took me to figure this out in a customers car once. It was absolutely trashed like most saabs are so I figured something was messed up after like 10 mins of fucking around with it. Called my manager out and he starts doing all the stuff I did, and then rows through the gears and it comes out when we hit reverse. Many chuckles and shouts of eurojunk and the like were had.
Well it looks like the Crown Vic died. During my Dad trying to figure out how to fix the oil issue, the engine seized. I'm trying to decide if I should put a new engine in it or sell it and use to the money to get something a bit more manageable for my brother.
It has always been my plan that if my vic eats an engine, im gonna find a wrecked f150 and grab the 5.4 out of that
Or just let the CVPI's die in peace so they can go idle a parking lot in automotive heaven
What causes there to be oil all over the timing belt area? There's a whole bunch of sludge at the bottom of the timing belt area, and on the bottom of the inside of the timing belt cover
What vehicle Glitch? I should remember you guys' cars, but I never do.
so turns out my oil pan gasket was dumping oil all over my starter
ended up costing me 700 dollars p+l which included new starter, new oil pan gasket, and an oil change i know i probably could have done it cheaper myself but the time i would have spent learning how to do it i need for other things
What vehicle Glitch? I should remember you guys' cars, but I never do.
I wish people would just add it to their post like a signature.

Crown vics are like the American Ford falcon right? In Australia they stopped making the Ford falcon, so if I had one I'd try to keep it going as long as possible, but it's a different story if the Crown Vics are still being produced.

Think I figured it out, there's supposed to be a white and a yellow dot. The far left dot is 10 degrees timing, the right dot is tdc. Now to find out how to get the cas back into the damn block :v:
I wish people would just add it to their post like a signature.
Well there was that add-on banana Lord was working on [editline]4th November 2016[/editline]
The Crown Vic stopped being made in like 2011?
For fleets iirc, the civilian version stopped in like 09 I think.
Saw a couple of fairly rare cars today Skyline GTS that I see occasionally on campus, finally got a picture of it. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21270004/Pic%27s%20%28clean%29/Cars/Spotted/DSC_0216.jpg[/t] '85 Prelude that came in for an oil change, 2 owner all original with no rust, manual, dual carb with a/c and 176k miles. So... I bought a Neon. [T]http://i.imgur.com/XxUjcZ3h.jpg[/T]
Yea, that works, but dont do that too long without any ventilation. CO fucks shit up.
Roof vents are always open. Believe me, I'm paranoid as hell about running anything propane without ventilation.
Or just let the CVPI's die in peace so they can go idle a parking lot in automotive heaven
NEVER! When my CVPI throws a rod or gets totalled, it is going to become the clapped out beater "duct tape n JB weld" fuckaround car, like so many old 70's boatmobiles that I think deep down, the crown vic aspires to be. Think about it, what other car being produced, even past 2005, featured a blubbery outdated V8, awful slushbox transmission, comfortable leg room for all 5 (maybe 4 whatever) passengers, giant sedan bodystyle, low as shit base model price, and enough trunk space for a jaccuzi? Not fuckin many. The crown vic is an old car made out of new car parts. [editline]5th November 2016[/editline] Any you know what? it may be the only car built in 2010 that you can roll the window down without getting your ears dry-fucked to death by window buffeting. I despise window buffeting. Fuck aerodynamic drag coefficients, I wanna be able to use my windows damnit.
The Crown Vic stopped being made in like 2011?
Did they replace it with a similar car with a different name or..? Well in that case, it may be worth preserving for the sake of it's legacy and if you foresee it going up in value. Back in 1990 Australian '70s muscle cars were next to worthless, now they're worth upward of 50 grand.
I think they made enough that they won't ever be worth anything haha
It's only worth preserving a Vic if you love the car. It's certainly not rare, nor will it ever be. That should never be one's motivation for keeping one going.
Odd question if in theory I was some rich guy and wanted to ship my Australian car to the US while I had a holiday (Vacation), anyone got any theories about what that would cost?
It's only worth preserving a Vic if you love the car. It's certainly not rare, nor will it ever be.
Ah ok, I was thinking it was like the falcon in Australia, which is now extinct and will go up in value in coming years.
It is like the Falcon, at least in that it's extinct and will go up in value. However, unlike the falcon it doesn't have the same amount of massive appeal to your average American gear head. It never became an icon in the same desirable way as the Falcon did. Instead Crown Victoria's are icons of police and other law enforcement agencies. Not as general appeal as a Falcon.

You'd also be stuck to driving it away from the port it's shipped to and waiting on it. It's probably cheaper to buy a used car over here then leave it to a used car lot or something. Unless you plan to maximize the 1 year length of importation, it's not worth the trouble unless you drive across the border.
