I finally fixed the broken Left-Rear ABS sensor (4 months after it croaked) and just got a replacement turbo because I couldn't be arsed to clean the soot and gunk out of the old one (after 2 months of it going into limp mode occasionally because of sticking vanes), and currently looking into used & same color code replacement front fenders because old ones are rusty as fuck.
In my defence, I needed some practice with welding for the ABS sensor because the bolt snapped clean off in the wheel hub bracket/spindle/whatever.
So my options were to drill it out (and failing at that) or sacrificing a few nuts, some welding wire and some gas to get it out.

Aww yes! The Mk7 is so damn sweet looking, seriously GTI's are so damn awesome!
Had an old GTI Mk1 in at work yesterday, 1983 model, same old lady owned it since new, and it also was like new!
Old people usualy loose the sense of what the cars they own are worth but luckliy she knew it was rare.

You want me to list what I should've done? Where do I even start?
* I think a driveshaft is going bad, there's a knock on bumps (especially while turning) and my mechanic can't find any slack in the suspension.
* Something's up with the clutch, it makes a horrible grinding noise with part clutch/part clutch + revs. No noise with the pedal fully depressed, and it holds well.
* Speaking of grinding noise, there's one at the front of the engine, probably idler pulley. Hopefully I'll get that looked at this weekend.
* Headlight alignment has been horribly off since I replaced the glass a year+ ago.
* Should've gotten a wheel alignment months ago.
* Interior is mismatched and none of the B-pillar covers are on properly, and as a result the carpets are sticking out.
* A/C needs a refill/repair
* It's rusting
There's probably more, and that's just my car. There's also my mom's two cars that need repairs, a boat that needs fixing, a trailer needs to be built (before that I have to apply for it too), lawn mower needs a new clutch, etc.
I need like 5 Clutch2s

Jesus Christ that is clean as fuck.
I really want to grab a cheap miata or wrx here when I have the money. Ridge please help me when the time comes.
Just for y'all I didn't do anything of interest tonight, LOL. Just organized some parts to get a handle on what parts / trim I'm missing, that kind of thing. I need a new tail light and I found one.. for $200. The only "issue" on mines is that the reverse light portion is cracked out. I might try to fab something of a cover for that instead of spend $200.
I'm also missing covers for both side marker lights that sit at the sides of the headlights. I can't find those anywhere, so it'll either be get lucky and find some, fab up some sort of lens, or what I'm leaning towards; shave them. The fenders are in bad need of bodywork anyway, so I figure why not?!
As far as paint.. I may have it figured out.
Subaru Black Java Pearl!

I'm thinking that with a satin black hood and trunk, because for some reason I can see that looking good. Then on the hood I'll do the rising sun in the java black pearl, since I kinda dig that on my cars. The java black pearl is perfect because it's not a tri-coat or anything and it's probably about the most impact I can get out of a black pearl color without starting to mess with pearl coats, kandies, etc.. which I don't want to on this car.
For rims I'm leaning towards Hayashi Yayoi reps still.. probably just some dumb Rotas in black with polished lip;

I've kind of decided the theme on this is "on a budget in the driveway." I don't plan on buying majorly expensive stuff for this car, like an $800 coilover strut/spindle conversion, for example, haha! I want to try to get tricky and do stuff like shaving those side markers I cant find, etc. Then once all is said and done I'll compile the stuff I don't need, A/C, power steering, 2nd car and engine, etc and then sell it all off and see where I'm at.
Usually I do my paint in other people's garages, too.. but I'm considering trying to shoot this one in a tent in the driveway just like Serj did. I'm kind of thinking "why not?!"
In the end I'd like to end up with a car that looks "pretty darn good" and didn't cost a major arm and a leg. We'll see how THAT goes. To gauge let's say something like "if I could get about what I have into the project for resale then I'll have won." Not that I want to sell it of course :v:
Also, check out the cool mesh grill on this one! I dig it, may try to emulate it because the OEM grill is kinda bland.

Spent my Friday evening working on Justy #1.
Drained oil and coolant. Replaced filters. Refilled oil. Flushed coolant system. Removed 4WD VSV assembly for repair. Pressure washed body and under the hood. Oiled accelerator cable. Tested battery (still weak). Refilled tank and added injector cleaner and took it for a test drive.
The mismatched tires make the car almost dangerous going 80 down the highway. Horribly unbalanced. Brakes also sound a bit iffy and the valves are tapping. Raceaway issue seems to of cleared up and all the lights are working. Tomorrow after I get the second car out of the bush I'll change its oil and coolant and wash it. Then both get a weep hole drilled in the bottom of the headlights because they both have cracked lenses and moisture buildup.
Ohhhh man I love that color clutch! So gonna steal the idea for my truck! I was already looking at black gold pearl from the new dodges, but thats the perfect blend of "black, but not quite!"

So, I was driving around tonight with my friend in the passenger seat and my camera in the trunk, looking for a cool spot to snap a few photos. Then we came across what looked to be an abandoned runway. So we drove in to take a closer look, only to see that it was closed by a big gate.
So we parked up to see if there would be anyway to get in. Then this white Audi S6 pulls up and this little guy jumps out and starts complimenting the Supra, and we have a little chat. I tell that it'd be really cool to take some photos on the runway, and he reacts by telling me that he works in there and then proceeds to give me the password to open the gate.
Then he says "Go ahead, have fun. Just don't do donuts and stuff if a plane is coming in."
So we went in and took some pics and did a single donut :D

Bad car nerd admission time: I've never really liked Supras nor Skylines, and I still kind of think of Nissan and Kia as about equal in quality and reliability.
There's a new 'car gang' in the area.
So far, i've seen plain Neon's (not SRT4's), TC's, a couple Toyota coupes.
Every one is lowered, with fart cans, and drive aggressively.
I've seen two so far with no plates anywhere on the vehicle of any kind.
One of the Neons attempted to go 80 in a 55, but got held up by traffic. Tailgating, revving, serving, insued.
Today, it was a Toyota coupe with no plate. Fart can, hood pins, lowered, with zero performance mods. Wanting to go 70+ in a 55, continued to swerve around traffic for ~20 miles getting no where. Lots of aggressive driving.
They all have vinyls saying "Sick Cars, Inc". Nothing online about it, at all.
Bought a new car, Immediately took it to the track.

Was up early this morning to collect the second Justy.
There was a delay of about an hour because while I inventoried the dismantled caliper I noticed that not only were two bolts missing but the holes where said bolts must of been were brazed. I can only guess buddy at some point in the past had to cut the bolts off, drill out the rest, braze the holes but never finished tapping them. Luckily there was a shop on site so I drilled out and retapped them. Once I found some suitable replacement bolts I had the wheel back on and I was ready to see if she moved.
Fuck yeah! Six years in a field and the ECVT was still happy.
Bad news was that as I drove it home and tested it along the way I found that the 4WD had a habit of not disengaging and because the bolts I found were slightly longer than the originals on hard left turns they would scrape against the caliper. Further inspections back at the house just found more and more issues that I didn't want to deal with. It's driveable if someone wants to buy it but I want it gone.
I'll clean this one up a little than get it onto Craigslist ASAP.
Put Flyin Miata springs (stiffer, ~1" drop in height) and Bilstein HD shocks in recently, autocrossed today. Felt like it really improved the car. But I guess it didn't improve my times. The group I run with manage to keep the times you run very similar and consistent regardless of the layout that day. I did manage to pull some new fastest laps for myself, but I was still painfully slow in comparison to my competitors. Instructors make a great difference though.
Also got a ride along in a e92 M3, made my fucking day! Funny too that it was at the end of the day, so I was exhausted, but after the ride I felt very revitalized, like it woke me back up!

Very tight slalom there. I mean grass ain't terrible, but I can only imagine the time lost by going on the grass if you somehow end up there.
I'm going to autocross on a proper track (as apposed to the usual parking lot/airstrip I'm so far used to) on the 24th. They use some narrow connecting sections just like that, so I'll get a taste soon enough. Does look like, from that picture, that the venue being used isn't the absolute best.
Here's a taste of Canaan, NH autocross I mentioned, gonna be extra fun!

i dont get it
first off, why would you drive without plates when that's pretty fucking illegal in most places and theres no way their econobox shitboxes are going to outrun the cops, and definitely not a helicopter with a searchlight
second off, why would you speed and drive aggressively in city traffic? theres literally no point except to look like a right cunt. i can understand the interstate, but a 55, what?
Kids are morons. We really needed to say that this day in age, still?
Gorgeous, Ferosso!
Today's update.. fall weather is moving in. The NSX is coming home from the body shop on tues or weds, so the '78 will lose its cozy home in my 1 car garage until I put the NSX away for the year, so I'm going to go ghetto and put up that 10x20' tent in the driveway to keep in tinkering even if its raining. I started getting the '81 ready to pull the engine and trans out, disconnected all the stuff attached to the engine and now it's just the driveshaft, trans mount, and speedo/slave connections and I'll pluck that out. Then the poor '81 can get rolled aside for who knows how long. Some friends seem interested in turning it into a drift missile, so I say more power to 'em, I hope it gets a new life somehow.
The only pic I snapped of any interest was the "custom" wire between the coil and the distributor.... 8ga AudioPipe amp power wire with plug wire ends crimped on. What in the..

The Toyota coupe actually wasn't a 'kid', per se. Probably 35, covered in tattoos, old enough to know better.
The others, i've encountered at night and never saw drivers.

kia and nissan are about as reliable these days but the interior in a nissan is way better. older kias were reliable if you didn't push them but tbh driving on interstate is pusing a kia
Yeah nothing really wrong with Kia's or Hyundai's since 2012ish, they're just really boring to drive. (Source: I own one, pls send help)
[editline]11th September 2016[/editline]
Which speaking of it being piss boring, sometime in the next several months since I just finished paying it off I'd like to basically just trade in + pay less than 10k for basically a more fun to drive version of my 2013 Elantra.
Requirements as follows:
Not older
Bluetooth (or just a new head unit, idgaf)
Heated seats
Reasonable small
Still gets half decent gas mileage
Easy to work on as I still know relatively very little about cars and want to get something I can start exploring
Any suggestions?
