Jesus fucking christ I almost lost the merc and all I've recovered yesterday. While driving to my mom I drove past some dude's driveway with a hedge on one side and a garage on the other and when I drove past, he was reversing out in lightning speed into the road and I saw he was not stopping so I floored it to not get hit. I was maybe 10 cm away from getting hit. With a spine that's already broken, and the only car I have left that would've sucked big-time.
norway sounds dangerous
We had an ice storm and only like 3 people died. Well not here, but in Oregon.
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Of fucking course, only after it starts to snow does the wear indicators on my front brakes begin to go off.
I mean, to be fair, most of the times it snows down here brakes are worthless to begin with anyways, so it's not like you lose that much. I hate braking in the snow and rarely ever do it to start.
Soon..
Sounds like complete garbage, there's absolutely fuck all reasons to run a OBD2b 2000 B16A ECU on a "99 B18A1" which is something that doesn't even exist along side a transmission from another car that doesn't exist which is a 2001 B16A Si. Someone who "owns several" should be able to read the block and have a little knowledge on what years his cars were made.
If you have to brake in the snow you were driving too fast Source: I drove in the snow one time

Like how in the spring I shaved a bit off the wear indicators just to get a bit more out of the pads. Or that fuel pump where the commutator was worn down to the insulator. Or the gas tank held in with wire. You get the idea. :v:
Snow? What is this mystical white shit you speak of? All we get in Va is 1/3" of solid ice when it rains in the winter time.
Snow? What is this mystical white shit you speak of?
It's a Canadian thing.

Also, got any pictures of the x-rays?
when does my lower control arm bushing decide to go? When temps drop to 20* and three inches of snow drops. Fuck me sideways I need a garage to do this shit
Why the fuck are you driving with a broken back? Just doesn't seem smart. Also, got any pictures of the x-rays?
Doctor told me to do shit like normal as long as it doesn't hurt too bad. Driving doesn't really hurt as long as I'm careful over bumps and stuff like that. As long as I sit still and drive carefully I'm totally fine. I can walk around like normal for a little bit but I can't lift or carry stuff much over 1kg, and I can't bend my back much before it hurts too much. If I'm gonna walk for over a minute or so I'll need the crutches. [editline]11th December 2016[/editline] Also I need to go to the store every now and then. I need my mom for store trips cause again, I can't carry shit :v: [editline]11th December 2016[/editline] Also again I don't drive much. I can't legally drive for 8 hours whenever I take the painkillers. I gotta be "off the pill" to drive for like a day. Also no, I never got to see the x-rays. Weirdly enough.
Soon..
https://delaware.craigslist.org/cto/5886500460.html This is an utter pile of dogshit, I googled some mostly misspelled/retarded text from that ad. Don't buy this garbage, there literally isn't a single thing in this ad which is correct information in the slightest. It's not LSVtec, it's just a fucking B18A from a 90-93 DA with what I'd assume to be the original B18B1 head along with B1, OBD2a intake mani and absolutely nothing vtec about it. https://delaware.craigslist.org/cto/5906291880.html Took 5 seconds to look at 3 other ads on your CL, buy this instead. It's cheaper, isn't hacked to fuck, isn't rattle canned and abused by some sack of shit that would punch a hole in the dash and lie about every single aspect of the vehicle.

Maybe you're just getting excess harmoics transferred through the clutch or mounts? I know when you put in a "racing clutch" they have warnings about excess gearbox noise being transmitted. Are you positive it's coming from the transmission? Maybe a carrier bearing or an exhaust mount or something? Some transmissions are just noisy.
fun day at work today
Had a driver in front that couldn't make up his mind. Slammed on my brakes so hard that i cracked my suspension block in half and it fell out. Truck is parked alone for the night, camera equipment removed, hoping for the best when it's towed tomorrow.
Worn thrust bearings causing the the throwout bearing or pilot bearing to howl? Maybe you're just getting excess harmoics transferred through the clutch or mounts? I know when you put in a "racing clutch" they have warnings about excess gearbox noise being transmitted. Are you positive it's coming from the transmission? Maybe a carrier bearing or an exhaust mount or something? Some transmissions are just noisy.
It's weird and as described. Neutral, first, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and reverse all have this high whine that you can only get rid of if either you engage the clutch or let the car coast. Everyone I've talked to says it sounds like throw bearing issues but it doesn't make noises when actuating the clutch. The big similarity for all of us is that we let the transmission oil level run too low and it just happens and readding oil doesn't remove it. I had a bunch of bullshit transmission work done in 2015 where all but one (he "said" that it was a bearing not likely to be worn out or be the source of the noise) of the bearings in the transmission were replaced. I dunno. I can either send the transmission to another shop to look at it and fix some problems the (now closed) first shop introduced or hunt down a replacement to have sent in to be rebuilt anyways.
This is a generalization, but I typically think CL posts that aren't lists (such as THE GOOD: THE BAD: Etc), that have typos, and are in ALL CAPS/VERY salesy (MUST SEE, HEADTURNER) are posted by people that don't truly know their shit. They are trying to make up for the facts that they don't know their shit, or they have a shit car to some degree.
I have a bad reputation with using things longer than you should. Or the gas tank held in with wire. You get the idea. :v:
I snip those off with dikes when I buy new pads, they're so obnoxious. Not only are they carving into your rotor, they're so conservative that they start making noise at like 40% life left. I just check the pads every once in a while and all is well.
Yeah I trimmed mine so they would go off at around 10%.
I've just been trading my vehicles in right before I need to do maintenance on them :v: Only thing the focus ever got was oil changes and tires cause it had 40,000 miles on the stock tires and bands were showing from too many Pig Trail runs.
I mean in a lot of states with safety inspections, there is a "state minimum depth", so it makes sense to have conservative wear indicators. Same goes for tires. Why have indicators that allow you to fail is the way I think the companies see it.
This is Arkansas, what the hell is a safety inspection?! If it has four wheels and a motor you can drive it to town and get milk.
I don't think I've ever replaced a tire from normal wear. My last job involved driving to construction sites so nails usually did them in before the tread got too worn.
Tell you what. Someone find me a Yugo that's local-ish to me (Vancouver Canada) under $1000 and I'll drive it.
I've got 2 trucks I'm eyeballing. Main intent is a runaround vehicle, A-B dead reliable daily, with a possible flip/resale Option one: newer, 30k more km than the other truck, not a sport so possibly less km (but I can easily swap on a sport front for flipping it?), new winter tires, otherwise looks really clean http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/calgary/2012-dodge-ram-1500-7900-obo/1223464955?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true Option 2: Older, less km, sport so it has more options, costs about 2k more than the other truck after doing some haggling, fairly clean as well but no idea on the tire condition. More options is the big selling point here. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/edmonton/2009-dodge-ram-1500-sport-hemi-4x4-quad-cab/1223411593?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
