always nothing in boring california. i wish we have something. all we have is fucking rain, fog and no sun where i live
Washington DC checking in. We got it hard here. Pretty much the whole downtown area bailed.
But now the West coast is going to make fun of us for being such pussies ._.
5.9 earthquake from Mineral Virginia.
It'a justified. A lot of us in large urban centers thought "terrorists" at first.
Yeah I heard about that, crazy.
Didn't feel any in Detroit, I was painting my fence. I like how every ones' first instinct in a earthquake is to update Facebook.
Well, US wise, as soon as a Earthquake hits Minnesota/Wisconsin, we're royally fucked
Didn't feel it in NJ, which is weird because the hospital less than a mile down the road felt it. When I went to work there, they were talking about it and it was the first I heard of it
Be careful or you might fall in.
The big thing was that barely any earthquakes are on the East Coast. When I felt it I took it as a bout of dizziness. Then I realized everyone else in my house felt it.
Got it in Pennsylvania.
I see death around the corner.
The news reported on the story for a good 5 hours, just coverimg NYC, where the most that happened was one chimney collapsed. I didn't notice it (I live about an hour north of NYC) but my mom did, but she thought it was the train, cause we live right near some tracks and can feel it when it passes.
I was watching the news with my brother, making my own commentary on the situation:
"...and now to NYCN field reporter Joel Allen live from Time Square"
"Thanks Chris, as Chris said, New York was hit by an earthquake that originated in the state of Virginia, and as you can see behind me, the streets are in absolute chaos as people are fleeing the city. Some, who have no idea what is going on are fearing a terrorist attack. The police are attempting to calm everyone down, but as you can see, it wasn't much help. City officials are concerned about the structural integrity of the city's sky scrapers, but for those who live here, all they care about is getting away. Joel Allen, Channel 15 NYC News, back to you Chris."

I'm dissapointed. The east coast gets hit by an earthquake and I don't even notice it.
Expecting volcanic eruptions and/or Godzilla to be on the news any second now
Earthquake woke me up three hours early of my 18 hour sleep.
There shall be revenge upon the state of Virginia.
i hope you don't fall into the ocean
I like how people overreact over the smallest things :v:
Surely a terrorist group caused an earthquake
So, I live in North VA.
I'm napping peacefully when I am awoken to some sort of strange... activity. Unable to get my head together while half asleep, I was forced to believe it was a tornado or some kind of paranormal activity, as a few things in my room were flying around. My two birds in the room over start screaming and freaking out, so I rush in there, head still flying every what direction. Then it was over. I'm still confused as I assure my birds that everything is fine. When I got back into bed, it finally occured to me that it was an earthquake.
And the moral of the story is that being half asleep is the worst way to experience an earthquake.

As I said, first thing that came to mind was "we just got nuked". Well, that or a gas main rupture.
These are all the quakes that have happened in the past 8 - 30 days. How interesting...

I didn't feel a thing
nothing exciting ever happens down here
LOL, the guy behind him. And what the black dude says.
I live in NJ and my house started to shake a bit I thought some thing broke and the house was gonna fall.
Over here in Southern California most of us live on or near the San Andrea's fault line, I'm about a hour away from it, (Super large photo, http://www.sanandreasfault.org/4020_A.jpg, no media tags ), not to mention our own little city is on top of its own little fault line.
Earthquakes are common at school and usually result in the guys laughing and the girls screaming, and the "get under your desk" thing never works. Half of the people just run outside the building.

You're in the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in America in one of the busiest cities America. You start shaking and hear rumbling. Tell me that your first thought is "Earthquake", and not "Bomb".
JESUS FUCK why does everyone flip a shit about a 5.9?
This reminds me of the plot from Crysis 2. It began as an earthquake followed by a deadly disease outbreak and lastly alien invasion.
Felt it here in eastern Pennsylvania, too. No real damage here obviously, but that didn't stop people from losing their fucking minds, if Facebook statuses are any indication.

Jesus the devastation from this earthquake is ridiculous

The main reason everyone is worked up about is is due to the fact that earthquakes barely happen on the east coast, and basically none of us are prepared for it.
