Raffle aint free.
This is a long shot, but are there any pre-Beatles songs by any of them?

John George and Paul
Nope.
Unless you'd count the recordings on Anthology One of That'll Be The Day and In Spite Of All The Danger, but I wouldn't.

There must be. Like ones in bars or what have you
I love the Beatles, but I need to get more of their albums. I only have Sgt. Pepper and Rubber Soul right now.

no such thing as portable recording back then. Took at a lot of work to rig something like that up

How can you recommend a specific Beatles album? They're all great in their own way. Admittedly, Yellow Submarine should be placed relatively low on the priorities list if you're only looking for Beatles songs (although George Martin's incidental music is nice).

Thats pretty crap advice to give a Beatle newbie :v:
"Just listen to it all"
In a way I agree, but that is because I have learned gradually of their greatness.
So to justify, my recommendations are top notch :smug:
I'd say White Album first. Great variety

Thats overwhelmingly good.
Its like going for Songs in the Key of Life or Blonde on Blonde before any of their other stuff.
Fell in love with Revolver again on the bus ride home from college. Used to be my favourite, and I hadn't listened to it in ages.
I noticed that before, there were a lot of tracks on it I liked, and a few I didn't really care for. I love the whole album now.

I've given up on liking albums more than others :v:
I need help in getting this album. (In HIGH quality)

It is a bootleg album consisting of DEMOS from the All Things Past album.... and if you have heard this, you must be eager to get your hands on a set of demos without the production and merely instrumentals.
Must have it :argh:

Exactly, I mean most bands do it as a tribute.
BUT HIM.
WE ALL KNOW WHY HE DID IT.
Phil Spector is underrated. He even managed to make YOKO sound good.
However he has murdered someone and now I have lost respect for him.

At first I thought that was a metaphor.
Then I looked at the Wikipedia article on him.
:ohdear:
Not many albums have that wall of sound... It adds a sense of hazy or wooziness to the album.
Echoes are elaborate.. Drums are deep and dont get me started about the voices!!
Just listened to the long version of "You Know My Name", fucking hilarious, you all have to listen to it.

I've heard the 4 minute long version on the Past Masters album, is that the long one?
Do they sound normal, sexy, muppets, and retarded? If so, then yes.
can we talk about the beatles again or has the thread been taken over
Does anyone feel sorry for Pete Best?
Does anyone feel sorry for Pete Best?
To be fair, he wasn't really a good drummer. It's the same way that Stu wasn't a good bass player- They didn't quit the Beatles then bad luck the Beatles are famous now oh well, they got kicked out. Well, technically Stu decided to stay in Germany, but whatever.
I find it incredibly depressing that John accidentally killed Stu in a fight (he died of a brain haemorrhage caused by John hitting him in the forehead). Maybe that's why he always aimed for peace after that...

That album cover is sad. Its the part they covered on Beatles Anthology with Ringo :v:
