No offense, but if you relate to a mythical being that 24/7 festers in its own filth, lives in a swamp, hates everybody else, and wipes its arse with book pages you may want to reevaluate your life
At least Shrek can speak like an actual human and is more relateable just for that alone.
I can't wait until there is some r34 fanfic between one of the little girls and a minion with some shitty catch-phrase that gains popularity and becomes the new "Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life" for kids who like to scream about shrek in my school bus.
Minions got better sells than Despicable Me.
Let that sink.

The first Shrek film was absolutely brilliant for the time, it just got run into the ground with shitty sequels

Eh, I just hate grossout humor.

Shrek 2 was the best Shrek movie imo.
There is nothing wrong with Shrek 2. It progressed the story in an area where it needed to go and gave it a proper conclusion. It's a great film with great pace, and in some ways I like it more than 1.
Last week I went to Universal in Hollywood.
Talk about the belly of the beast

I'm not saying either is better, I don't get impressed by mass-in-your-face product placement of the sort either way
How the hell did Minions get so popular? Something happened between Despicable Me 1 and 2 I swear

I'm heading there next month for Horror Nights. Zombies, Aliens & Predators are going to be the least of my worries I'm sure.

Basically from what I remember they appeared in Despicable Me as lovable side characters, that ended up being more popular than some of the main characters, then in Despicable Me 2 they took up half the story to pander to the audience, and then they just went y'know what fuck it people love these guys let's make all the fucking money, decided to drop the other characters quietly from the billing and put the spotlight on the minions before launching an aggressive marketing campaign with posters, billboards, t-shirts, hats, toys, toys, toys, plushies, toys, costumes, so on, and people met it with open arms, and here we are now.
