Also, he didn't say because they were christians. There are plenty of bands with christian members that don't do anything he criticized TDWP for.

The movie came after the band. They got the name from the book. They didn't expect the book to get popular, but it did.
I used to listen to TDWP a lot more when I didn't know about a lot of other good metal.

But if you're going to be dealing out a lot of shit, it's a good idea to have your own band. Compared to if you just say you didn't like them, and leaving it at that.
I have recorded a few covers with my friends across the world but that hasn't effected my judgment of this band. I said I didn't like them and I posted reason upon reason, I didn't just "leave it at that."

A movie is a once and done thing, there's no touring or performing or recording(besides the initial shooting).

I could literally put my itunes on shuffle and go through about 1000 songs before finding a band that is worse than TDWP
