Its definitely not gonna replace airsoft. Firstly firing lasers is nowhere nearly as engaging as firing actual projectiles, even if they are just 6mm plastic pellets. Also the lasers will pretty much eliminate any need for marksmen and snipers. Finally, airsoft guns are so customizable for different roles from a CQB DSG to a DMR with a TK twist that shoving a pre-made laser gun to someone will ruin a lot of the fun of airsoft. IMO, airsoft is as much a hobby as it is a sport, and a lot of the fun of it is building your gun up and being able to say that you put it together yourself, rather than having a laser that just goes pew pew.

That's just laser tag but with people wearing fatigues. If airsoft is ever replaced by something, it should be an actual step-up like Simunition.

My main issue with any kind of laser-based system is that not everything can be hit on your target. If someone's prone with their head and gun sticking out, and the sensors are only on the vest, then they're invulnerable, which is silly.

I'm guessing sunlight probably screws with lasers on many occasions. Also getting a little ping is nowhere near as engaging or terrifying as a million bbs hitting the wall next to you. And that suppressive fire is pointless since you can't see or hear the lasers hitting your cover.

That too. Hearing and knowing where the BBs are hitting near you is a big part in strategy and adds thrill to the game that's scary but still enjoyable. Plus there's the time that BBs take to travel distances.

I've got work to finish but the Fallout themed event today was awesome. I put my phone on record for like 20 minutes and put it in one of my jacket pockets, some parts in the town area got recorded, other times the camera got covered. One of the highlights: [t]http://i.imgur.com/pNbaC2b.jpg[/t] I bought one of the last apple pies in the wasteland for 25 caps; any food tastes good when you're in the middle of a game and hungry. One of the merchants who works at the field made a stove in the ground and heated up spaghettios then sold a bunch of other canned foods and stuff to people. The only thing that sucked was having to get 80 caps to activate your gun (green ziptie) which represents buying a gun. About 45 minutes later random people were being chosen to have their gun broken (ziptie removed), and I was one of them. I went out of my way to find all the scraps I could, even if they weren't meant to be part of the game (even found coke bricks from a previous operation and sold those for 20 caps each). Luckily my friend let me borrow his WE M14 EBR (fucking nice gun), near the end of the game I got captured and fought for one of the other teams. So many people talking about the EBR I was carrying, but for the situation we were in, I would have been better off with my AK. For a stock RK02, it does a pretty good job picking people off with .28s on semi. If I use full auto the gearbox might lockup because it's the cheap 8.4v battery that came with it, I was lucky it worked because walking onto that field with any of my guns is a curse, which is why I left my M4 at home (also because I could sling the AK over my shoulder and be more mobile than with a swinging M4 on a one point).

nice, one of the big games producers is doing a FO themed mix of RP and airsoft and its going to be awesome.

There was a lot of RP at this one, it was a nice change from the usual non-stop fighting at other events. The larpers that played their own characters in town were great too. The town doctor spent the game healing people and trying to build a time machine so he could prevent everything from happening but he was stopped. Then one of the merchants went insane and would come out yelling at people or walking around with flares, she scared the whole town once because everyone thought it was going to explode.
