There were a few simple things that could of made this superior to the first one. The most obvious of which is not centering it around a bunch of fucking 12 year olds. The age of the kids fighting alone really ruined the intensity at times..
Actually, that was really my only complaint.

This was actually a pretty damn good film, and I hate remakes
More of a reimagining honestly. Same basic plot, different setting and characters. The change in the purpose of the car was a nice touch, too.
